We dropped the product because of the corruption issue.
Two main issues. 1) It can be a bandwidth resource hog over a small WAN link. We would routinely saturate a 3Mbps link with WAFS. This can be mitigated with tuning what gets replicated. 2) In some cases, it can look like the files get replicated because the files have the correct date, file size, etc. However, the file itself was actually all nulls. In our replication case, we had more than 10,000 files get corrupted this way (out of 1.2 million). GlobalScape support basically said that there were issues with W2K8 R2 but the problem actually dated back to 2008 on a W2K3 server. We dropped the product because of the corruption issue.

Has enabled secure, centralized file sharing while saving significant time and resources
The best features in GoAnywhere MFT are that it's fast, reliable, and secure. First, the improvement is that we have resolved one of our security points with compliance. So that compliance point we resolved. And also it's a centralized file sharing system. All the users are able to access the file. There is no one-to-one sharing. It's improved about 80 to 85%. It saves about 80 to 90% resources. In terms of time, we can say 90 to 95% time is also saved because it avoids the one-to-one sharing and simply a user can put one centralized directory and all the users are able to access this solution and access the file. So it's 95%.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When it works, WAFS is a good way to keep data synchronized between multiple servers in multiple locations."
"Overall, it has been a reliable and efficient platform for secure file transfer automation, especially in environments where visibility, compliance, and workflow reliability are important."
"The main benefits I have seen from using GoAnywhere MFT are that it removes all manual efforts through automation and reduces manual file transfer because we have scheduled our jobs."
"Whenever a customer has to create a case, they create a case directly through our support portal."
"After implementing GoAnywhere MFT, we saw clear improvements in efficiency and reliability, with time saved around a 60 to 70 percent reduction in manual file transfer."
"The best features of GoAnywhere MFT are its powerful customization capabilities that allow us to dictate the process and add in custom processes, which was a limitation with other MFTs we used."
"The automation in GoAnywhere MFT really helps us because it reduced the manual work significantly, we can transfer hundreds of files with zero manual interventions, the audit trails also help during the compliance audits, and it has given stakeholders more confidence in the security of file transfer."
"GoAnywhere MFT has positively impacted our organization by improving secure file transfer management, reducing manual operational effort, and strengthening compliance and data protection processes."
"The best feature of GoAnywhere MFT is the automation of file transfer, so once configured, processes run without manual effort, improving efficiency and reliability while also providing strong security and encryption along with centralized management control."

Cons

"In some cases, it can look like the files get replicated because the files have the correct date, file size, etc. However, the file itself was actually all nulls."
"The reporting could be more customizable."
"A drawback is that it is not as feature-rich compared to its competitor Sterling, which we used before. It has fewer features, though it is more intuitive."
"GoAnywhere MFT can be synchronized with artificial intelligence so that it can briefly explain what kind of document it is."
"I like that you can tweak the interface so much, but it would be nice to be able to tweak it some more. The ability to further tweak the interface would be advantageous, as our end users had some questions about modifications that we could not address."
"I experience occasional downtime and some glitches."
"In GoAnywhere MFT, there are memory-related issues that need improvement. Sometimes it shows varying memory usage from 500 GB to 2 GB, and these issues can persist for multiple days."
"The area where I would suggest improvement is on the pricing side. The pricing is not favorable sometimes when we use it for a few people. Even if we purchase additional licenses, no discount is given."
"Everything works fine, but I feel that the user interface can be improved, especially the layout. They can make the dashboards more customizable."

"Compared to other tools it's less expensive."
"The cost is fine. It is probably the best software that I've had for the money that we spend for it. I am not aware of any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees. I don't pay for it. IT pays for it."
"GoAnywhere's price is justified by its features and the time it saves me."
"Licensing can be expensive and it depends upon which features you want to buy."
"Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT is an inexpensive solution."
"HelpSystems GoAnywhere MFT is very reasonably priced for the value it brings."
"I get the invoices, and its price is fine and appropriate. It is well priced. Even if it was double the price, we'd use it. For us, it is indispensable. We're not going to go anywhere else. There are no additional costs. Its licensing is good. There is just one charge that we get. That's it."
