A cost-effective solution, but the user interface lacks the ability to customize
In the UK, I think that we are one of the biggest utilizers of the service. With the restrictions that it has, I don't think it's got massive upscalability. For general users it is fine, but the scalability could be better. We started with approximately eight and a half thousand users, and we currently have about twelve-thousand people using it. This is used widely across a number of user groups, including administrators, end users, general users, and specific privileged users for two-factor authentication. We do plan to increase the usage of this solution. Our current capacity is fourteen thousand but we will probably grow beyond that.

Has an easy initial setup process, but its technical support services need improvement
The product's technical support could be better. The integration project requires a lot of technical details, so we need to find it quickly and easily. There was a large community of knowledge in the past. We kept it together and got the results. The community that works around the particular technical issue is shrinking. It used to be a specialized community that would help with the process. These particular areas need improvement. Broadcom is still using a hybrid cloud model, with some workloads on-premises and some in the cloud. They must start with the cloud adoption and move as many workloads to the cloud as possible. The on-premises environment is becoming stable. They need to rebuild that cost and the software. The product's pre-sales, technical support, and installation could also improve.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature for us is the ability to use Active Directory groups as virtual containers instead of domains because it means that we can control our access groups better."
"The Gemalto Protiva suite is really complete as it has smart card managed software, Secure Digital Key, drivers, smart card reader, smart card, OTP readers etc."
"Streamlines user access, consolidates applications."
"The big benefit is that the end users have an easier process requesting security access."
"I would say the most valuable feature is provisioning where we are able to provide user access to all the resources they need in a uniform way that we can audit."
"Identify Manager helped us move to a more automated model with fewer manual interactions."
"It is flexible, reduces the costs of administration and increases accountability, improves security, and lowers help desk workloads."
"This product has allowed me to take the repetitive tasks away from a person so the value of a person is better."
"Out-of-the-box the product has a lot of opportunity for configuration and sophisticated identity management capability."
"Compliance improvements."

Cons

"The user interface needs improvement. It is not obvious where things are; while the cosmetics are ok, the way it's laid out on the screen could be better."
"The user interface needs improvement."
"We have some stability issues. We go through waves every few months where it goes up and down a lot."
"I find the API boring. I also faced issues while integrating with CA SSO."
"We had a consultant firm come in and do the install originally in 2009. They did a very bad job."
"We've met with the product development folks, and as far as improvements, we're really looking at them from a user experience."
"Cloud integration, more flexibility, and interoperability in how components interact with each other and external components need improvement."
"Something to help us migrate our code between environments from QA to UA to production in an easier way."
"As far as improvements, the first thing I think CA needs to do is redesign the user interface; the functionality is good but the interface itself is not that user-friendly."
"The solution is not the best or the fastest available."
