Integration with various environments and cloud providers enhances automation
I use GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines. I automate infrastructure, deployment, and all processes. Most companies use CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub Actions is one of the tools available for this purpose The most valuable feature of GitHub Actions is that it is completely free. It can be integrated…

Efficient CI/CD management with significant cost reduction and a user-friendly setup
One area for improvement is the number of CRDs created during installation. Tekton currently creates 10 to 11CRDs, which can be overwhelming. Instead, it would be better to have just one CRD that can handle all the information and create other necessary components automatically. Additionally, more integration capabilities for security, such as DAST, SAST, and IAST, should be directly built into Tekton to facilitate easier implementation of security features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I find the automation feature of GitHub Actions most valuable for our building processes. It integrates seamlessly with GitHub, so there's no extra configuration needed, making the building process easy and efficient. GitHub Actions handles scalability well, automatically managing execution infrastructure without requiring additional configurations. We haven't yet explored GitHub Actions' support for AI projects, as we haven't used its AI capabilities."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is a good product that offers stability and performance."
"The main benefit is collaboration. It allows us to easily collaborate with other developers, regardless of location. For example, we can collaborate with both our African and German colleagues seamlessly. It's platform-agnostic, so it is flexible and not tied to any OS, so we can work on Linux, Windows, web, and even Oracle applications. It's flexible, reliable, and overall an excellent tool for our needs."
"GitHub Actions is valuable for its ease of use and integration."
"It improves efficiency as it involves no downtime and is managed by GitHub."
"It is user-friendly, with clear and organized processes, making it easy to navigate and work with."
"The solution has saved us approximately 20% in terms of efficiency and productivity."
"It is a very stable solution as we have not faced any issues."
"Tekton has a user interface that facilitates time savings, making it more user-friendly than Jenkins."
"Tekton allows you to categorize tasks according to your needs and minimizes the amount of code needed."
"It enables enterprises to build a flexible framework atop Tekton, making it easier to define workflows with standard inputs and outputs."
"It is an open-source tool, which makes it highly adaptable."
"I like the setup of the dashboard."
"The most valuable features of Tekton include the reusability of tasks, the clean UI interface, and the binding of services and secrets."
"Tekton is customizable because with Kubernetes, we can customize on our own."
"The 'promote' feature is beneficial as it simplifies deployment processes by allowing easy promotion of applications to different environments without needing to re-run CI/CD processes."

Cons

"GitHub sometimes makes it difficult to debug actions."
"The solution's integration capabilities and UI are areas of concern where improvement is required to make the product more user-friendly."
"GitHub Actions lacks a feature for automating the build process for mobile applications."
"The UI could be better."
"We can leverage this database tool to manage everything within our environment and data burners, allowing for customization and execution. An additional advantage is the capability to modify aspects like file size, making processes more efficient and faster across the pipelines. Regarding improvements or implementations, I believe there should be enhancements made to the deployment tool. It should be integrated as part of the solution. Infrastructure-wise, we already have tools like GitHub and RobSpot, and data enables us to automate various processes, which is quite beneficial. As for further enhancements, I'm uncertain. I've shared everything I know. However, if there's something specific you'd like to see in future releases, a feature that may not exist yet but would be desirable, I can't provide any input on that matter."
"The primary area for improvement I see is in artifact management, especially for saving screenshots or videos from failed tests or data-driven actions. Currently, the configuration for saving these artifacts is complex."
"The only issue I have faced is with authorization, particularly when configuring the GitHub token correctly."
"In terms of improvements, I think better logging for debugging purposes would be helpful, especially for complex workflows."
"I'm a bit worried about scaling Tekton from the point of view of big CI/CD processes."
"Some of the tool's cons include its minimalistic dashboard, which lacks detailed information and control compared to other tools like Jenkins or GitLab. Additionally, it's primarily used by Japanese companies."
"Improvements could include introducing a UI-based pipeline development feature, such as drag and drop, which would help individuals with limited technical knowledge start building pipelines."
"Compared to traditional tools like Jenkins, Tekton lacks a lot of features. It's not efficient in managing conflicts between multiple pipelines."
"If you are a beginner, then accessing the flexibility part can be overwhelming. We think the learning curve of the tool is steep, especially for those who are not already familiar with Kubernetes."
"One area where Tekton can improve is log management."
"Tekton should include many features to integrate event-driven pipelines."
"Tekton lacks integration capabilities compared to other CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Travis."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's price is okay and reasonable."
"Price-wise, GitHub Actions is okay. If I want to use the product's advanced features, then I need to pay the licensing charges for the solution."
"It's low-priced. Not high, but definitely low."
"It is free and open platform, so I would rate it 1 out of 10."
"The cost for GitHub Actions may be around $45 dollars per user."
"The product is slightly more expensive than some alternatives."
"For our basic usage, we didn't have to pay."
"Regarding cost, as an enterprise, we negotiate our license and expenses, so I can't provide a specific rating for that."
"Tekton is an open-source tool."
"It is entirely open source and free of charge."
"The product is free of cost."
"The product is free and open-source."
"The tool is open-source and free to use."
"The solution is open-source."
