I'm not quite sure how they have helped us actually because I know about the platform, but I haven't used it as I did in the past as a production engineer. I am familiar with Halliburton Aries Petroleum Economic Software's decline curve analysis. It is not effective if you cannot do a historical match and adjust the parameters of the decline curve. If it is only a linear regression that you could get from the data, that would be a mistake. If you could adjust the parameters according to the engineering criteria, that would be interesting. But if it's an inferred value for the parameters, that gives you a scenario where you lose control, and you stop trusting the decline curve. Python is important because you could take out outliers from your data and describe properly the function that could describe your trend. It is necessary to have engineering capability to properly forecast. My experience with the pricing of this product limits us regarding the amount of licenses we could get, so it's challenging. The integration with other software helps us; we integrate with the platform through SQL, but it's the only connection we have experienced.

Oracle's support is not that good for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Their support is expensive, and I don't think you're getting your bang for your buck. For the cloud product, they do give you support, but everything is online and you might not get somebody. I would give Oracle's support for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne about a 6.5 on a scale of one to 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For running economics, planning budgets, and reporting reserves, Aries is one of the best in the industry and used more than any other product in the industry for that purpose."
"The best features of Halliburton Aries Petroleum Economic Software are that they attempt to integrate everything coming from the field; every data point that we could get from the field creates a database not only from production but also the mechanical status the wells have."
"The solution is very customizable according to business needs."
"Its user interface and ease of navigation are valuable."
"Today there are few ERP systems that can actually compete with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne."
"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne's most valuable feature is its one consolidated platform that runs all the different aspects of companies."
"When it's boiled down to the ERP system, I would recommend Oracle EOne compared to SAP since you can do lots of customization, and you have lots of other functionalities enabled in the system."
"The good thing about it is that it is very customizable; we can modify it the way we want, and with the new versions it has become very user-friendly with mobile integration, cloud-based solutions, and many things that can be done by front-end users without technical knowledge, including creating reports without any coding."
"We do a straight forward, simple plug and play installation so there are no problems technically now."
"EnterpriseOne has been the product that allows us to focus on our products and not on our ERP, and this means a lot."

Cons

"For decline curve analysis, it could be more user friendly but once you understand how to customize it and tweak projections, it’s easy enough to use."
"It is not effective if you cannot do a historical match and adjust the parameters of the decline curve."
"Financial side could be expanded by bringing in things like the IMS."
"The initial setup of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is straightforward. However, it could improve."
"We originally used EnterpriseOne for preventative maintenance, but it is not very good at that so we migrated to Maximo for that task."
"The product’s pricing should be improved."
"If it's complex, or there's some debate on whether the item is a bug or functioning as designed, it does take quite some time to get through that, and from a customer perspective, sometimes you have to be pretty persistent."
"My concern is that it's not keeping pace with what's happening in the real world."
"There were stability issues, and part of the job, is to offer a stable platform."
"Reporting and dashboards are the areas that definitely can be improved."
