Customer data has improved our real-time campaigns but onboarding and setup still need support
Hightouch can be improved in a number of areas, but one of them is being on the applicability in small users and organizations. Small organizations that do not have that secure data infrastructure or that expanded customer data may find it complex to acquire the platform and use it. Therefore, they may resort to using other manual methods, and this may bring a disadvantage in their customer data handling processes. Still further, there is the learning curve being encountered by users who are not that tech-savvy. New people or employees who are fresh from other fields cannot be thrown directly into using and handling customer data. They need time and that training or that initial period of orientation to be pretty intense for them to grasp what is required of them and what to expect and not to expect from the platform. Regarding any technical limitations I've noticed, I can add the requirement to have a robust data warehouse system. Hightouch cannot be used with big or opaque data warehousing systems that are not accurate. So its success also depends on the infrastructure that you have put in terms of data storage and handling. That also calls for an upgrade in that department and increases the price of acquiring the platform.

Cloud data catalog has streamlined lineage and quality while leaving more automation to improve
I have not explored IDMC's automation capabilities driven by AI and metadata too much at the moment, but it is on the cards. We are basically creating the foundation, as the whole migration has taken place recently and it is still early days. I think Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) is evolving, and as the vendors move forward, they pick up new concepts from each other. I have seen that products leapfrog each other, and from my experience over the years, the big players tend to copy features or add enhancements based on industry trends. I feel whatever the tool does not have now, there is a feedback loop allowing us to request new features, and we continually ask for different ways to do things as we have a pipeline into the product management team. It is difficult to say what additional features I would prefer to see in the next release of IDMC. I would appreciate more automation on the lineage front, with more AI to seamlessly join independent sources and create seamless lineage between different technologies, such as from file into database A into a different database and landing up in a reporting system such as Cognos, Qlik, Qlik Sense, QlikView, or Power BI.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have had a positive impact from Hightouch, and one area where we had that impact is on the handling of customer data."
"I use AddressDoctor to validate addresses on an e-commerce site; it is simple to use and the results are always correct."
"Seamless integration of MDM, data quality and data integration modules."
"This is where I think MDM shines - with its strong fuzzy matching algorithm. This is the essence of Informatica MDM. Based on these results, I can write our match conditions and then perform the corresponding data management activities."
"The most valuable feature is the rule specification."
"The solution has multiple valuable features for metadata collection"
"Informatica Data Quality is a solid integration tool."
"There are a couple of valuable features. One is that it is very quick on the profiling. So, you get a very fast snapshot of the type of data that you're looking at from the profiling perspective. It can highlight anomalies in the data."
"We went with Informatica because we have functional and non-functional requirements with respect to the market data management of our customers and Informatica is a suitable product for their needs."

Cons

"Hightouch can be improved in a number of areas, but one of them is being on the applicability in small users and organizations."
"The product is more expensive than other similar solutions."
"In terms of cost effectiveness, Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) is more than 20% costly compared to the industry."
"Their support should be improved. We have had some trouble with their support from time to time. Its scalability should also be improved. I would also like to have a bit more modern and friendly UI for the end-users. There should definitely be a simplified way to configure and set it up."
"This solution is hard to set up and its interface is not user-friendly. It's also not as stable, and the technical support takes a lot of time to solve simple problems."
"I need to have some insight into the tool's cloud capabilities."
"Informatica MDM could improve the interdependency with integration. The solution sometimes becomes a bit difficult to change considering a lot of interdependency with the integration. There can be some improvement in the workflows and they can introduce more artificial intelligence."
"Informatica is very expensive."
"For products Master Data Management or related to MDM or Data Governance, there is no way by which we can directly practice, and my team struggles at that point."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing model is something that can be improved."
"The pricing structure is good, but having to pay for extra drivers to be used in an ICS environment makes me a little nervous."
"I rate the product's pricing a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is the lowest price and ten is the highest price."
"We pay for a yearly subscription."
"It's offers value for money. They're more competitive with respect to pricing and offerings."
"It's an expensive solution."
"I have heard from customers that the product comes with a huge license cost."
"In terms of the licensing for Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services, we had the option of paying based on the number of users and paying based on the volume of data, and we went with the data volume licensing option. Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services isn't as expensive as CIG. The pricing for it is okay, so I'm rating it a four out of five in terms of pricing. We did use the email verification and address validation services which weren't part of the contract, so we had to pay additional fees for those services."
