A robust product that offers great flexibility
The initial setup process was neither easy nor difficult, as it is somewhere in the middle, but at times, it is difficult to make certain decisions. The availability of the product is high. The deployment model of the product is chosen depending on the requirements of the customers, but our company does sea consultancy to figure out what the advantages and disadvantages of both deployment models are. The discussions mostly led my company to opt for a hybrid cloud deployment model. It doesn't take more than two days to complete if the installation is only for a couple of systems, or else if there are multiple ways to decide, then the installation part depends on the rate type.

Has integrated solutions and rapid recovery made management smoother and more reliable
There is the latest update from HPE regarding HPE SimpliVity. For virtualization, HPE has to depend on other manufacturers, OEMs such as VMware or Hyper-V. Recently, HPE declared the VM essential virtualization solution. In the future, if HPE integrates HPE SimpliVity with VM essential, that will be a great combination. Functionality-wise, I am totally satisfied with HPE SimpliVity, but for improvement, if HPE integrates its own virtualization solution, this combination and integration will be beneficial because this integration can be configured with the cloud-based system. A VM can be uploaded to the cloud from this, which will be advantageous for backup to other sites.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best feature of this solution is the backup system."
"Over the last four years we had a 99.9% uptime."
"We find the deduplication and compression features to be most valuable, as well as that of the backup solution inside."
"The solution is incredibly stable; it's one of the great advantages of the product, and we've never faced any problems when it comes to stability."
"After we migrated to this environment, everything changed."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its ability to restore lost machines. Essentially its high availability capabilities are extremely valuable to us."
"Most of the HP products I come across are they are easy to install. That's not very complex."
"Previously, with a traditional extract transform load process, it would take us three hours to load our large volume tables, now it takes us about ten minutes on SAP HANA on a ConvergedSystem platform."
"The globally federated architecture means that the backup across sites does not consume precious MPLS bandwidth, which is cool."
"The feature that I like the most is the backup feature embedded inside the HPE SimpliVity. When we have any activity, within five minutes, we have a backup. It also has PDR for performing disaster recovery."
"Scaling is a piece of cake. We have been able to scale up in our Asia-Pac region. We even are doing site-to-site replication of certain systems that we need to have high availability on."
"It is a very stable solution."
"The storage efficiency is valuable."
"I am completely satisfied with this solution."
"Its deduplication and backup functions are reliable."
"The access, high availability, and interface are the most valuable and important for us."

Cons

"I would like to see a full flash array added and the pricing improved, as HP is expensive."
"The tool has shortcomings in its performance monitoring part."
"I would like to see better manageability and integration with third-party tools."
"The solution needs to add NFS features."
"The solution needs to be easier to use."
"It was a very rough ride. The people they sent, I don't think they had experience in doing these kinds of implementations before."
"I think the MTG inside HP could be improved."
"My biggest pet peeve with the HC250 are the descriptions that they put on our parts list."
"Upgrading the firmware/software could be more seamless (or at least be assigned a technician who could walk us through the process for both the SimpliVity software as well as the VMware software)."
"There needs to be a simple process for migrating one SimpliVity cluster to a new SimpliVity cluster."
"The product is expensive."
"The ease of new deployments could be improved."
"Integration with external solutions outside the HPE posed challenges."
"Its price can be improved. Customers always look for better prices. It is more expensive as compared to other products available in the market."
"I would like to see it be a truly hybrid-cloud solution where I could take my on-prem SimpliVity environment and have replication to a cloud install."
"The installation is quite easy but it could still be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"My company has a five year contract for HPE ConvergedSystem. The contracts depend on companies and sometimes it can be three years. The solution is worth its price."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly."
"There are some extra costs in addition to the licensing costs for the yearly maintenance from professional third-party services."
"Pricing is good. We have not calculated what hyper-converged infrastructure has brought us but I think there has to be some lower cost for us, compared to the public cloud. Obviously, there would be a lower cost, probably by more than half."
"I rate the product price an eight and a half on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"The pricing is sensitive."
"The pricing is competitive. Not a major problem. We have a subscription model."
"This is an expensive system and not every customer has the kind of budget to support it."
"The price of the solution is reasonable. We have purchased a five-year license with all the support and upgrades."
"It seemed like it was expensive at first. Now that I have had it installed for a period of time, I think I got a great deal."
"We bought this solution as a package that included all of the hardware and all of the software."
"The licenses from the product are expensive compared to the other solutions in the market."
"There are additional costs for storage."
"Upfront costs seems high at first look, but after analyzing all the benefits of SimpliVity, we have come out ahead."
"The pricing is very high."
"Scaling isn't cheap"
