Simple to manage and to protect securely your hybrid cloud VMs
The simple way to manage and to operate the product are its most valuable aspects. Having the possibility to not only back up the on-prem virtual machines, but also the virtual machines from the cloud has been quite useful. Also, we can backup our virtual machines to the cloud in a really cost-effective way, because it uses that compression and deduplication the product provides. That way, not going to have extra cost. That's really, really important. The solution provides a single cloud-based console to manage backup and recovery operations. That's important. You have also, for example, other services like Block Storage or DR, everything integrated in one single platform (HPE GreenLake). You don't have to spend time connecting to one site or one device or another. It helps you to do things quickly. The dashboard gives us a view of the protection status and actions we need to take to ensure protection. We have everything there. If we have some problems, it's going to show us. The dashboard is great for providing a quick overview. The built-in security features (encryption, backup data, immutability, and dual authorization) are all really important. The protection that the GreenLake platform provides makes us feel really confident about our security against attacks. If your backups are not going to be deleted, you can recover them within a few minutes. We use the solution to protect our on-premises virtual machines. With a single login, we can protect our VMs on-premises and in the cloud. It's a really good approach. You don't need to access, for example, the AWS portal. You have everything integrated with the console. With a single Internet connection, you can protect your virtual machines on-premises or in the cloud. The fact that the solution provides backup and recovery for both on-prem and cloud-native workloads is very helpful. Everything can be done quickly, and it's overall easier. That's the key: simplicity. HPE GreenLake Backup and Recovery has positively affected the amount of time we spend managing our backup infrastructure. Having that unique access point to the backup system and schedule and so on, helps in reducing a lot of time spent. We've likely cut time spent by 70%. Deduplication and compression features helped reduce the cost of backup storage and networking. They are one of the features that allows us to do everything really quickly. It reduces the amount of data going through the network. The always-on deduplication and compression features have helped to reduce the cost of long-term data retention. When you send it to the cloud, and you already have it compressed and deduplicated, you're going to spend less money.

Pros

"It's easy to use for me."
"The always-on deduplication and compression features have helped to reduce the cost of long-term data retention."
"Veeam One is a centralized management and centralized reporting tool. The tool has supportive infrastructure to create specialised applications and some server application. You can add all the resources and infrastructure. You will get the reports, can easily manage and monitor any feature."
"The most valuable features I have found to be Instant Recovery, quick restore and rollback, and asynchronous copy. It is a complete solution for our needs."
"The technical support is good."
"The initial setup is simple to do in Veeam Backup Replication."
"The granular restoration that it provides for a business application is most valuable. For example, for Exchange, we can restore a single mailbox or email. We can also do SQL Server restoration and bare-metal recovery for operating systems."
"The standout feature for us is instant recovery."
"It has helped us transfer the solution in two days instead of working for a minimum of one week to ten days."
"It is a flexible, simple, and scalable software-based solution. It has agentless functionality with specific hypervisors and agent-based functionality with specific operating systems. It gives you the flexibility to use your own hardware and back up physical Windows, Linux, IBM AIX, and Oracle Solaris systems as well as VMware VMs, Hyper-V VMs, and Nutanix VMs from one console. It also has integration with major applications that most companies are using, such as Active Directory, SQL, Exchange, or SharePoint. It has integrations, not just for the backup on the image, host layer, or hypervisor, but also for performing an application-consistent backup. It is helpful in backing up to the tape, cloud, DR site, etc. It is really flexible. It is really amazing that you can restore any backup on VMware, Azure, or AWS. As compared to the other solutions in the market. Veeam has really integrated a lot in the past years. It has the best performance and perfect replication."

Cons

"If you need to recover an environment and you have suffered from ransomware, it's difficult to start again with the backup and recovery service."
"The dashboard should be updated."
"Some support replies for a broken backup task have been "rebuild the job from scratch" and this is a bad thing to do if you have many VMs and repositories."
"Sometimes the solution give reports that are confusing and has errors. So the integration of the full solution with the resolution of resolving the error should be added in the next release. The solution should also provide more customization, automation, better documentation."
"If a single file is corrupt then the restoration of the entire backup will fail."
"I would like to see the licensing model improved. They have recently changed the model and have made it more complicated."
"Technical support can be improved."
"I would like to have the capability of backing up a physical machine, as opposed to just a VM."
"The scalability of the product in large organizations is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"Its import and export processes for information and policies could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The tool is reasonably priced for the quality it provides."
"The license cost is per socket, per processor. We can have one license with two processors and we can cover everything inside of the test environment that we have."
"Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along."
"The price is reasonable."
"We pay for a license to use this solution, and we recommend that our customers pay for a license and a renewal license."
"It is always nice to get products cheaper. Technically, it saves you a lot of money. If you wanted to buy the same functionality out of vSphere, you would spend thousands to essentially get the same functionality."
"It is not expensive and I would rate it five out of ten."
