High availability servers have boosted hosted payment services but still need better local support
We are not using PowerVM because of certain limitations; it is on a back-end engine. However, we are using other components such as vSphere for some small interfaces, and those are the main components we are utilizing. Since these servers are fully dedicated to various high-end solutions, they have some embedded features that their kernel and applications are using, which are bound to that functionality. We may not provide an exact assessment on its usage, but we are considering those products for some AI solutions; however, we are currently in the review stage and have not concluded our evaluation on how those are utilized yet. We are aware of the pricing of HPE ProLiant DL servers, but not off the cuff. We have obviously acquired those solutions ex-Pakistan, so they are on the rise, and while we do not remember those prices offhand, they are generally better than the IBM series, although they are becoming slightly pricey in Pakistan due to processor shortages and demand. Improvements could be made in database engine hosting services because, as it stands, the pricing of Oracle is too high from both the service and software solution perspectives. If pricing can be reduced, especially for DB servers, that could have a direct positive impact on the overall solution. Regarding reliability, it has been satisfactory so far, but since the distributors are not physically present in Pakistan, that creates a risk for long-term large customers. They provide import-based services, necessitating us to over-invest in backup stock and offline servers. If there was a market presence from those players in Pakistan, it could benefit both clients and distributors by reducing the need for investment in backup inventory.

Simple to use and compatible with all other operating systems
I would rate the scalability of this solution a 10, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best. There are currently about 2,000 users of this solution in our company as it's a hospital. We also have plans to scale further.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The flexibility of using storage options would be one valuable feature, another would be competitive pricing, and yet another would be the quite high top speeds on the processor."
"HPE DLs are very easy to implement, and there is a lot more manageability now than there used to be."
"HPE ProLiant DL Servers have good performance and they support different types of applications."
"Scalability Availability It’s robust Clustering Virtualization I can do with it almost everything within minutes."
"It works fine, it gave quite a lot of storage per rack unit."
"Its management, IOs, and stability are the most valuable features. It works fine. It has all the features of a typical server. All that can be done has already been done."
"The product is scalable and stable."
"Reliability, support, and performance; a roadmap for where they are going in the future is important, and we have that with HP."
"The most valuable thing about Huawei FusionServer is the fact that it's easy to use."

Cons

"Although I compare them often to the Dell servers we used to have, these HP servers could be improved with faster memory."
"They are pretty solid servers, but, just like all servers, they become obsolete after some time. They can maybe provide a console to monitor the health of the servers. There should be some kind of console to which you can log in to remotely check on the health of a server, even when the server is off. The servers that we have are only scalable to some extent. They have got a limited amount of hard drive that you can insert. Their scalability should be improved."
"Parts fail, that's part of the IT business, but the ability to be able to get in there quickly and get parts swapped is a very big benefit."
"ProLiant's a little tough. We realized that the other day, that we were running out of space on our C: drive."
"This server is separate from the next one and I'd like it to be integrated so it becomes all-in-one."
"If I was to be really picky, it needs to not drop the memory speed when you fill all the memory slots, which is a real niggle, but other than that, they've worked so well."
"I would say that it would be nice if there was a more streamlined approach to getting drivers or looking up system information from HPE's website."
"By default on the Gen9 server, they remove the screenports and USB ports in front of the servers, and you have to purchase them."
"In the next release, I'd like to see more features not in the hardware but in the platform where I can manage all the servers and the hardware of the servers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's pricing is high. It needs to be more flexible. The flexibility would be beneficial for our clients, especially in a competitive market. Adding additional features and addressing complex requirements on top of the price can be challenging for us as a reseller."
"This was a one-time purchase for us because it's hardware that we purchased from HPE. There aren't any licensing costs."
"This product is within our budget."
"We have ILO licenses. We use this feature."
"The solution comes with a one time perpetual license which is included with the server."
"This is an expensive product and there is licensing required for iLO, which is the HPE monitoring system."
"It is not expensive. Its price is similar to other solutions."
"HPE ProLiant DL Servers have a higher price than Dell servers. However, the Japanese counterpart has the lowerest priced servers. The price of the HPE ProLiant DL Servers could improve, it could be less expensive."
