Easy to setup, good support and stable product
When we started, we used Acronis for both cloud and on-premises backups. Protege was a reliable solution, and the cloud-focused approach is well-suited for our current needs. If you require both cloud and on-premises backup capabilities, Acronis is a more comprehensive solution. For solely cloud-based backups, Protege is a solid option.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Since it is on the cloud, it is a very stable solution."
"The ntegration of physical agents with our cloud connect service is positive."
"Veeam is by far the solution that delivers a complete set of features for a small price, and the administration is much more easy."
"The safety and reliability of data loss and retrieval has been amazing ever since we implemented Veeam."
"Go ahead, it is a very good choice and will give you peace of mind."
"If you have virtual environments or databases, Veeam Backup Replication is a good solution."
"The most valuable aspect is its reliability in recovering any replaceable data in the event of server issues in a production environment."
"First, I like that this solution is fast. Second, I like the stability and flexibility."
"This solution is very flexible and user-friendly — it's very good, and it's very good with our virtual and physical infrastructure."

Cons

"One area for improvement would be expanding its capabilities beyond Azure-specific backups."
"Backup speed should be increased, and there should be more functionality."
"The solution could improve the performance. We are not able to check the status of any system. Additionally, if there was an option to monitor server clusters it would be helpful."
"With Veeam v7 in conjunction with vSphere 5.5 using vSphere Flash Read Cache (vFRC), I started seeing issues with Veeam backups either failing or VM Snapshots constantly needing consolidation."
"It is a complex software. It is not easy to use, and you must know what to do and where to do."
"The tech support could be better."
"Veeam is not in SaaS right now."
"Apart from security improvements, enhancing compatibility with various platforms and addressing limitations related to integration and verification would be beneficial."
"The product’s stability has certain issues and needs to be improved. The solution’s pricing could be also cheaper."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I acknowledge there are concerns about pricing, specifically in gaining more customers for VM. We've encountered difficulties in convincing them due to pricing issues. So, I rate it a six."
"They have a free edition that can back up up to 10 VMs or physical servers. Small and medium businesses can use this edition until they can afford to get a license, and after they get a license, they just activate it on the same console. That's the amazing thing about it."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the price a five."
"Its software solution has a fee."
"The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill."
"If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive."
"The product is inexpensive."
"The licenses are code-based or server-based for Veeam ONE. The last version is 12, and it is host-based, I don't like to move to a code-based solution."

Disaster recovery planning is something that seems challenging for all businesses. Virtualization in addition to its operational flexibility, and cost reduction benefits, has helped companies improve their DR posture. Virtualization has made it easier to move machines from production to…
