Restoration and infrastructure are extremely reliable
We are currently using Tivoli to backup 15 terabytes within our Oracle Database using a RMAN backup script. The RMAN's utility and restoration has been perfect, we have yet to experience any issues. It's very reliable The restoration and infrastructure are extremely reliable. We would like to…

Reliable automated backups have protected critical databases and simplified recoveries for our operations
Portal identity management should improve. We end up losing people's identity, which was not sufficient enough to read the events. That was the only place I could see for improvement. They keep changing the layouts and descriptions, giving the user confusion if they have not used it for maybe three months. When they come back, the interface is changed. They lost the legacy support, and it is not consistent. Some of the options for the restore give a very hard time for the engineer if they come back after three months to use it because the phrases have changed completely. That is why they were not able to select whether they should select this option or should select another option. Where it comes from, the documentation we gave them does not match anymore. That was a challenge. My consultation part was about how to integrate the technology with each other for the platform or storage or database. I did not deal with any price metrics or scaling the storage. I have no idea about the pricing part. I never joined any meetings or any documents to disclose the pricing. It was quite good in general. Recently, in March 2025, they did a new update which enabled them to update their agents remotely and built in, in-place mode. That is bringing the cybersecurity perspective. That was a big challenge. I said it is a challenge, but I do not know because I left the company, so I am not sure if cybersecurity addressed the solution. Rubrik support is usually very accommodating and very flexible. I am not sure, but the last challenge I saw was that.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The restoration and infrastructure is extremely reliable."
"Even though a lot of other people like Veeam, Tivoli's restoration and infrastructure are unbeatable, making them the only ones that we rely on despite other feasible options."
"Rubrik's customer service is excellent."
"Management is so simple that anyone can check the backups and do restores when necessary."
"Overall, it makes operational life way easier."
"The product's protection against ransomware is a significant benefit."
"This product will simplify your life beyond belief."
"With this new product, Rubrik, we walked into it blind, not being backup admins, and it made a lot of sense to us."
"The live mounting and compatibility of different operating systems is great."
"The most valuable feature is the Instant Recovery, where we can restore a VM or SQL database or any server or application, and have it up and running on their appliance within a few seconds."

Cons

"We rarely need to reach out to customer service; however, when we do, they have not been able to help us resolve a single call."
"We would like to have the opportunity to omit data from being backed up. For example, we have three virtual machines, each with three disks. When running the backup, it will automatically take each disk rather than allowing us to select what data we want backed."
"I would improve the cost part of Rubrik; they should improve in that area."
"The integrated reporting is not really that nicely built."
"Capacity reports could definitely be improved. It's hard to determine what is using the space and why."
"Troubleshooting failed backups is not what it should be. Once you gather logs, deciphering them without the help of support is usually almost impossible."
"Native Rubrik is stable, but we have struggled a lot with stability in our recently installed cloud-based instance of the solution."
"The functionality is missing, but they are very receptive to our thoughts and ideas."
"I would like to see more information on encryption with the next release."
"There are some corner cases where the Rubrik Connector (Agent) still doesn't work for our clients."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's expensive, but it's worth for it due to the volume of critical information within our database. We are currently paying about $22,000 per year."
"Originally, we bought the units on perpetual licenses. Now, we have switched to Rubrik Go. I think the Rubrik Go subscription is a better model, where it is based on your onsite environment and you consume what you use."
"Some people say it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. If you want a Maserati, you have to pay for it. If you want to buy a Porsche, you have to pay for it."
"I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten."
"Rubrik is quite expensive for small businesses."
"We pay annually for the license for Rubrik. There are no additional costs. Initially, we needed to set it up, negotiate and finalize the offer."
"The solution is expensive for small businesses."
"When we compared the overall costs, Rubrik was cheaper because the engineering and operational side required FAR LESS dedication. So, all in all, they actually were cheaper than the competition."
"I rate the pricing an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high."
