Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

The tool needs to improve in the areas of security, though it is a versatile product
Inflectra Rapise needs to expand its ability. I spoke with Inflectra's executive account rep on the need to expand the tool's ability. The problem with Inflectra Rapise is that a lot of companies are still using SAP GUI. Inflectra has no intention of building Rapise in a way that allows it to interact with SAP GUI. Inflectra Rapise has very limited value for the companies I work with because they they still use SAP GUI since their top priority is SAP testing, and they want to get into automation, for which they need a tool that cannot only used to automate processes, but can also do end-to-end testing where you are not only using SAP GUI, but you are using the interface with old legacy systems that are still in use or with today's more modern technologies. In the future, the tool needs to increase its versatility. If I am at a company that uses 23 different technologies, like .NET Visual Basic, Oracle, SQL, or whatever, Inflectra Rapise needs to be made as a product that is an out-of-the-box usable tool for any technology.

Significantly reduces manual effort and improves team workflows through automated ticketing
We've used Agent Builder, IXP, and Maestro for orchestration. We have created context-grounded searches or chatbots using context grounding, and we also use context grounding within an Agentic flow where a bot or agent reads ServiceNow tickets to determine whether it has been assigned to the right work group. If it has not been assigned correctly due to human error, it automatically reassigns it to the right group. I would assess Agentic AI's ability to extract data points as effective. We created an agent for the purpose of extracting data, though not in a document. We created what we call an email conversation agent that engages with a customer, vendor, or someone in an email conversation with a set goal of extracting specific data points for an action to be performed subsequently. The one automation we have deployed in production involves the agent interacting with team members to collect data points and create a ServiceNow ticket. We appreciate almost all features of UiPath Platform, with one of the most successful ones being the use of Coms Mining. Most of the new features related to AI have all been good, and we use Agentic. We have already created a few agents and have started to use Maestro for a few flows, though we are not yet there to orchestrate an end-to-end workflow. We have good ROI from the automations we have developed with UiPath Platform, which far exceeds the investment in the platform. It has saved us tens of thousands of hours in manual effort, making the team members happy to pursue other things of value.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"As a tool, IQ Bot is easy to use, powerful, and very competitive compared to others."
"Movement on cloud architecture according to me provided by AA2019, will be most beneficial as it will be easy to use and will provide flexibility."
"Automation Anywhere provides the best feature to make a software bot for processes."
"We recently switched to document automation that comes with the bundle. It is a good feature because earlier, we needed to purchase a separate license for IQ Bot, but now the enterprise license includes the DA license. This eliminates the need for an additional license for document automation."
"The most valuable feature of the product is the flexibility, as there are so many features that you can use to develop, and it can hit a lot of use cases."
"We are using it to backfill a lot of our resources who are retiring, so we are hiring less people as we go."
"AA has vastly improved my organization in gathering more business, reducing human efforts, and optimizing client business."
"In terms of development for our developers, it is very easy and quick to learn because Automation Anywhere has provided an online academy where developers can easily learn the features. It is very easy. If someone does not have a coding background, they can also learn from it very easily because it is just drag and drop and very interactive."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its versatility."
"It's incredible but the support and maintenance of Inflectra Rapise's scripts is less than 30% of the effort that was involved in maintaining Selenium, it is very easy and this is the reason that we are switching everything that needs handling from Selenium to Inflectra Rapise, as it is easy to maintain and provides a benefit in cost and efforts with a 90% reduction factor in the maintenance of the scripts."
"The initial setup was straightforward; it wasn't complex at all, and we found it nice and easy."
"The scripting of this tool is easy and user friendly."
"It's pretty straightforward to set up."
"The first time I used Rapise I completed the automation scripts for a full application in a day and I was shocked how easy it was."
"Rapise is a good automation tool that's easy to use and learn, and you can share scripts as a team, which is very helpful."
"We saved thousands of dollars because the Rapise implementation gave us 30 or more executions for every release compared to three or four, so huge savings on manual testing effort plus easy detection of defects is very cost effective."
"UiPath Platform stands out for me because of its usability, its diversification, its integration, and having multiple options for the same thing in different ways."
"For small to medium clients, those clients have an investment of about $100,000, we see around six to eight months in, they get something around 40% to 60% ROI being returned to them, then within a year to 18 months, they get a 100% to 120% ROI realized."
"The UiPath community staff is the best I have ever seen. I have worked in several communities, not only in RPA platforms but for other tools, but the UiPath community is the best."
"UiPath has helped us improve our efficiency, and the quality of our deliverables has increased by many folds."
"RPA is a valuable feature for interacting with GUI interfaces."
"We freed up time for our nurses and doctors to treat very sick patients."
"This solution has reduced manual effort on our part; it's removed repetitive tasks which do not bring any value to the company and has saved maybe 1,000 man-hours every year on the AP side, and on the metric side for a dashboard that we created, we saved 90 hours a month."
"We haven't done anything that hasn't saved money yet."

Cons

"The Excel part needs improvement because we use it as a database. Right now, we are using UiPath for this feature, as that RPA tool allows us to sort, search, and filter in Excel databases."
"In the version that we have, there are some challenges with the browser-based applications, the cloning of the objects, and the solution's stability."
"I would like to see GitHub or GitLab integration in the next version."
"In a cost-sensitive industry like banking, where automation needs to prove clear ROI, a more flexible pricing structure would assist organizations in expanding automation more aggressively without feeling constrained by budget considerations."
"Technical support needs to be much faster. I also had the project delivery. I had six clients whom I looked after. Whenever we got stuck, it was all about sprinting. There was a two or three week sprint. Within that, if you just wait for two to three days, it doesn't make sense. The support needs to implode, because I was just talking to a customer now who came directly and asked us, "Can you give us a dedicated support team?" It's feedback from our customer that support takes too long."
"I could not say it's a stable product, because when you move in the market, there are many companies are there."
"We have our limitations. We can run only VBScripts and one more thing. If we want to run Python scripts or batch files, we cannot do it. So, if they would add these extra things in there then that would be beneficial."
"The IQ Bots need more out-of-the-box models to lessen the time required for model training. Their competitors provide more built-in models, which enhance capabilities in document processing."
"I faced one problem where it can't validate the colour of images and text. Also, it could not automate the mobile app, and this needs to be included."
"It has some stability issues where the tool crashes sometimes on Windows 10."
"It would be good if there could be more integration of Inflectra Rapise, since not all customers use the same tool for test management and automation integration."
"When there are failures in a nightly run of batches of scripts, it can create a blocking situation where all the following scripts will fail due to unexpected results."
"The maintenance is very difficult."
"Inflectra Rapise needs to expand its ability."
"What I have noticed about Rapise is that sometimes when you keep on using the same script, it fails many times."
"The maintenance is very difficult. We've only been using the platform for three months, so I'm not sure if that will continue, but right now it's an observation I've had."
"Right now, the licensing model and the pricing are the only stoppers for us, in terms of escalating our use."
"Active Roles works with policies and access templates, as well as workflows, which are really powerful. While it comes with a lot of example policies and access templates, there are zero built-in workflows."
"One way to improve the UiPath Academy, I think, would be to add some real life use cases and take the students through the automation process. These would be good for citizen developers to start with."
"There are definitely some changes I would like to see. I’d like to see, for example, more note code for applications."
"Improve the ability to change the user interface or application functionalities."
"UiPath needs to flush out that business element because a lot of us make decisions on ROI."
"I would like to have cloud in the next release. It's one of those things that allows customers to be able to have an easier access point."
"The stability is usually really great. However, at this point, we are uploading a new version because the stability is not right."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost of Automation Anywhere is high in Turkey due to the weak economy."
"It saves on the quality of work, because the quality can be bad when somebody's doing it. If a bot does the work, it's faster and comes with good quality. These are two important things along with the cost saving in the long run. That's where the value is."
"Automation Anywhere is competitive... Pega is somewhat comparable, but Pega also requires a lot more infrastructure and a lot more experience to get up and running."
"The pricing for Automation Anywhere is reasonable."
"Our licensing costs are setup on an annual basis."
"Annual licensing costs would be about $100,000."
"Including the AWS setup and everything per license, it costs us around $10,000 on an annual basis. I believe that is pretty reasonable considering the teams that we have."
"They all are very competitive today. At the end of the day, it boils down to the negotiations that happen and what type of partner you are."
"We pay no more than $50 annually for support of each one of the licenses."
"I rate the product's price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where ten means very good pricing."
"It's the same as what you would see on any of their list prices. There is also a corporate discount because of scale. Overall, we think it was a competitive price offering. They were the cheapest out of the three, so that's why we went with them."
"UiPath is expensive compared to the competition."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The licensing is close to optimum; however, there is room for improvement in both the cost and flexibility of the licenses."
"The licensing is too expensive. It is not a cheap product. We constantly have to build business cases where we have to justify our existence as an RPA team."
"We got purchased the basic minimum package and it was around $35,000 USD, annually."
"Even though our clients may have an Automation Anywhere ecosystem, they choose UiPath due to budget and cost. Apart from cost, both platforms offer almost all the features."
"UiPath has a free community version."
