Though this tool lacks the features to allow backups on the same server, it is very easy to use
During the current times, solutions must have a backup system from a main server, and an active directory service. Also, it is no longer important to have a backup for different environments, such as databases, application servers, and web servers. However, ManageEngine RecoveryManager Plus must get a main server for itself.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Along with its active directory infrastructure, this solution also possesses the ability to recover and exchange, making it a valuable backup tool."
"The features I find most valuable are probably the VMware snapshot backups and the Veeam replication. Their replication is very good. It can easily be used for disaster recovery in a number of situations."
"Replication is most valuable."
"I'm pleased with the ability to search for documents; it's very useful."
"The tool is a stable backup solution."
"Veeam Backup & Replication is a scalable solution."
"The product’s configuration and settings are very easy."
"The flexibility provided by Veeam Data Platform's hybrid deployment options is very simple, efficient, and user-friendly."
"With regard to our operational requirements, Veeam is very good because it's so user-friendly."

Cons

"The solution has few features as it does not focus on managing anything in the application."
"Veeam Backup Replication could improve by having better integration with the cloud. Additionally, they do not have direct integration to S3 or Azure storage for the backups of the VMs. This feature would be beneficial because we have to go through the scalable repository which I do not like."
"Perhaps the interface could be improved, though it has always been fine for me."
"It would be beneficial if it could expand its coverage to support Frostbox and provide greater flexibility for service providers to recommend backup solutions based on customer preferences in prospective environments."
"The initial setup is complex."
"They can improve the features and Veeam Enterprise Manager. The interface and features are kind of limited. It would be good if they can provide more features and a better interface. For example, if I want to provide certain users with the privilege to back up and restore and do day-to-day tasks, I cannot do it in the current version. It is like you either give everything to everyone or no user can have access to anything. In version 9, a lot of features were missing, and it wasn't clear. Version 10 is easier from the communication perspective, and the disk backup option is very clear."
"Veeam ONE should make available notifications through SMS."
"In terms of what could be improved, when creating a backup job with Veeam, you can create a daily backup, but it doesn't do it within that job. It does not give you the ability to also set the terms for monthly and/or weekly backups. It has to be a separate job. It gets clunky to manage the timeframes where you don't want a daily to run on this day and creating weeklies. And you don't want a daily to run on this day doing monthlies. That is hard to deal with. It would be really nice if you could do it through a single command line or a single interface."
"Veeam needs to have more support for non-Windows systems and other databases. For example, I can do SQL with Veeam but not Informix or Oracle. This is unfortunate because we have many partners with Oracle systems and Informix databases, and Veeam does not yet have the agents we need for specific Oracle and UNIX operating systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license cost for this solution is cheap."
"Veeam ONE is cheaper when you compare it with one of its competitors in the ops space, VMware vRealize Operations. There's a separate department that deals with the licensing, but my company is using CSP licensing, which is the service provider licensing, so my company doesn't fall under the normal volume at the Veeam Universal licensing program. The cost is commit-based and depends on what your point commit is. The point commit works differently, and it's similar to your sales provider license. If you commit to using one thousand five hundred points, you get a certain price. If you commit to using the eight hundred points scheme, you get a certain price. As you grow the point scheme, you get a different price range, so it doesn't matter whether you're using Veeam One, Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Backup and Replication, Orchestrate, or whatever the product is."
"We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on Veeam each year, although it is not expensive for what we get."
"Veeam ONE is offered at a good price."
"If you have Veeam Backup and Replication with the essential license then this solution is free. If you were to purchase Veeam ONE by itself it is priced cheaper than competitors."
"There is a license required for this solution and the price is a bit expensive but it depends on the environment that you have on how much it will cost."
"The price is pretty cheap for our market."
"The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
"Its software solution has a fee."
