Though this tool lacks the features to allow backups on the same server, it is very easy to use
During the current times, solutions must have a backup system from a main server, and an active directory service. Also, it is no longer important to have a backup for different environments, such as databases, application servers, and web servers. However, ManageEngine RecoveryManager Plus must get a main server for itself.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Along with its active directory infrastructure, this solution also possesses the ability to recover and exchange, making it a valuable backup tool."
"All features of Veeam Data Platform, such as backup, immutability, and replication, are highly valuable."
"One of the newest features in version 12.1 is malware detection. This feature allows the software to detect malware before initiating a backup job for a server. Although I haven't had the opportunity to personally try it out due to its recent release, I came across it while working on an environment in a cluster for a customer."
"The solution is very user-friendly."
"Simple and stable."
"Replication, Sure Backup and Instant Recovery are very easy to use."
"I like all of Veeam's features, but the most important ones are the tape backups and replication. Those are the two options available for us, and it's enough for our needs."
"With the implementation of Veeam, our ROI increased from 30% (TSM) to 70% (Veeam), over the first three years."
"Exchange and File server backup are valuable features."

Cons

"The solution has few features as it does not focus on managing anything in the application."
"Backup compression. It has got better but still could improve somewhat."
"Expanding its compatibility to include Linux would represent a significant advancement."
"Look at the price for the support. It is very high."
"Even though the speed has improved over the years, I think that there are some instances where it still takes a while."
"Margins should not be distinct; instead, they should seamlessly integrate with the Veeam Backup and Replication tools, requiring minimal separation."
"They need to address the confusing recovery dialogue."
"If there is a communication interruption (ping drops) between the proxy and the Veeam server, the backup fails."
"Veeam ONE should make available notifications through SMS."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license cost for this solution is cheap."
"It is relatively cheap."
"Veeam is quite expensive. There are no additional costs to the licensing fees. IBM Spectrum Protect is also expensive. They should improve its pricing. They raise the price every time there is an increase in the features of the product. They should think twice about that."
"The price is a bit high."
"Our licensing cost is $200 a year."
"This solution requires a license and the organizations I was involved in were using an enterprise license."
"My understanding is that it is a fairly small price point."
"We pay for the license of Veeam Backup Replication on an annual basis. The cost of the license is approximately 70,000 rials. The support and maintenance are included in the price."
"The price is quite competitive compared to other products in my region."
