Secure reminders have improved HR document control and support better client deadline management
I really love the reminders feature of N-able Cove Data Protection because I have many dates to keep in mind while working with multiple clients. The access settings are important for me too, and the fact that HR documents are personal means I do not want everyone seeing everything, especially because in HR we talk mostly about confidentiality. It is important that not everyone gets to see everything unless they have access, and I also appreciate being able to tell which copy is the final one. The reminders feature stands out for me the most because I deal with many dates and deadlines. The reminders work well for me in practice because they make it easy for me; I do not have to keep checking my calendar, even though I also use other calendars such as Calendly. The reminders come in handy because I do not have to keep going back to that, helping me ensure that I meet deadlines and do not miss client meetings, making it easier for me to stay organized.

Immutable protection has secured critical workloads and delivers strong automated recovery options
I think immutable protection is the most valuable feature; that is something the customer will resonate with. I think AI-powered insights for predictive analytics is an attractive topic because people like to learn more about it, but I do not think right now people are ready to spend money on just these features. I think it is an add-on that customers appreciate, but it is not a special or separate topic that the customer will prioritize. I think Rubrik Go's capability to automate data management tasks is a good topic to discuss with customers right now, but I do not think at the moment it would be a separate initiative that the customer already has a budget for. I think Rubrik Go is effective in enabling workload recovery and provisioning, but it has yet to be proven with our customer implementation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cove Data Protection has streamlined how we handle data protection, as an MSP, saving me time with a single console to administer all client backups and dramatically improving the service levels I can offer customers while giving me confidence in reselling a trustworthy service and company."
"The most valuables feature is the alerts and monitoring that catches the failed backups."
"Now, we're able to offer an extremely well-priced solution to our clients that is thousands of dollars less than any of the competitors I've used."
"It's extremely important that Cove provides cloud-based data protection with backup, disaster recovery, and archiving. That is a necessity for my insurance. As an IT company, my insurance would cost more if my backups were not offsite and off-network."
"For servers, first and foremost, it's just a rock-solid solution."
"I know I won't have an issue if the data is there. The reliability and the confidence that we have is amazing. It doesn't matter. We've had customers have ransomware. We've had customers that have had corruption. We've had customers that have had employees destroy their data. As long as it's been backed up, I know that I can get it back and I know I have nothing to worry about. Our confidence level is very high."
"The most valuable feature by far is the Virtual Disaster Recovery. On top of that is the bare-metal recovery. The recovery options that we have are great. We have tested the Virtual Disaster Recovery and the bare-metal recovery in just about any scenario you can think of. We have even restored bare metal, a full server, to a laptop, and had full functionality. It's just insane how well it works and how simple it is. It does most of the work for you."
"The ease of use and the console are great."
"Rubrik Go's best feature is data visualization."
"The solution is easy to install; our team just has to put together the plan, give it to IT and let them handle it. Other solutions are quite complex, but this is much simpler."
"The solution's most valuable feature is Sensitive Data Discovery."
"The most valuable feature with Rubrik is that even though the data is already in the cloud, it's an AWS, so by accessing the on-prem appliance you can still search because it is indexed from that appliance."
"Clients find the cost very good and enjoy the large cloud compatibility."
"The standout feature is its ransomware protection capabilities."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use for backing up VMs."
"The most valuable feature is that it is a hyper-converged backup appliance with everything in one box and has an easy-to-use interface that is not complicated."

Cons

"One area I don't like has to do with the agent that goes on the system. Deploying it is a piece of cake, but something I have noticed is that if a system stays offline for some length of time, say for a week or so, I may have to go back in and reinstall the agent to get it back in business."
"Having the licensing available for partners to be able to take advantage of testing without paying would make a big difference."
"The challenges I face especially are those I've mentioned, that finding some specific data in N-able Cove Data Protection is not as easy as it is in some other systems."
"We don't use the solution’s automated recovery testing because SolarWinds made me cross."
"N-able Cove Data Protection does not provide a lot of SaaS backup products, which is an area they can improve. Additionally, there are some limitations on the storage side, where I cannot have a lot of employees backing up their data."
"Integration with a hybrid cloud is something that I found complicated."
"The reporting feature and functionality need improvement. We would like to see a little bit more detailed reporting that offers more CEO or C-level focused reporting options."
"During the other 10% of the time when I have a problem, it's a mess."
"I would like to see better integration with applications, such as those from Microsoft, to make backing up from those applications simpler."
"You should be able to add more workloads to Rubrik Go."
"Integration with the client is something that needs to be improved."
"Rubrik Go's security visibility could be improved."
"I believe there's room for improvement in terms of support, particularly with Tier 3 support coming from the on-call team."
"Being a modern backup solution, Rubrik should have an option to back up a Kubernetes cluster."
"Reporting could be improved. For now, it's only exported to CSB files."
"I think integration with multiple cloud support could be an additional feature that would make the product even better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost is around ten dollars per workstation a month and that includes a certain amount of data."
"The pricing, for now, is good. The package that they gave us recently is pretty good. It depends on how many clients you have, and you pay for certain terabytes per license. These terabytes, if not used, are pooled together."
"The only option I would like to see is an adjustable scale. Right now we have 250 seats and we're not using all of them. It would be nice to be able to save that little bit of money by being able to buy just what we need."
"The pricing is affordable. N-able Cove Data Protection has a direct-to-cloud architecture, but it also allows saving backups locally without extra storage costs."
"The pricing of SolarWinds seems to be fair compared to the rest of the industry."
"I believe that the price is very reasonable in comparison to other options. It is cheaper than both Redstor and Acronis and, since we are now using our own on-premise cloud, there is absolutely no comparison since we have unlimited storage rather than paying per gigabyte used for their onsite storage. We are currently able to backup fifty computers for the same price that we use to backup five computers."
"N-able Cove Data Protection is an averagely-priced product."
"There is no per node cost, at least not the way I am doing it. I am on bulk. New customers can be set up on a trial, where they can get things all squared away, then they can switch over to being a billed customer."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a three out of ten."
"The solution is reasonably priced."
"It's an expensive product if you compare it to traditional backup solutions; however, if you compare it as a total cost of ownership for a solution, it is not."
"This is a very costly solution."
"I would rate the product's pricing a seven out of ten. The solution's costs are monthly."
"Rubrik Go is more cost-effective than similar solutions by other vendors."
"The client pays for the solution depending on what they use."
"Rubrick Go is quite expensive - I would rate its pricing four out of ten."
