Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

Solarwinds Web Performance Monitor is overall good regarding synthetic transaction monitoring and data virtualization. I would rate Solarwinds Web Performance Monitor a 10 out of 10 based on our experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Insights with key transactions and response time, to understand which calls take the longest and where the bottlenecks are."
"The database trace was the most useful service, helping us improve performance on our servers by more than 30%."
"Their technical support is pretty good and responsive. We have a real good relationship with them."
"We are getting a very good ROI as our production quality has gone up with more issues getting detected on local environments."
"The solution makes it very easy to have a holistic view."
"The New Relic toolset has become part of our SDLC -- reviewing the changes we made for impact to the production environment."
"Every time there is a crisis, high traffic, or if we see a problem with a server, we go to New Relic and monitor it to determine the cause."
"New Relic is the right solution in my opinion."
"Everything is functioning well, the interface is intuitive and understandable, easy to read, to access utilization files and reports."

Cons

"Errors insights have room for improvement especially error analysis part which is somewhat less compared to similar tool Splunk."
"There are certain scenarios where I feel additional functionalities could enhance New Relic, such as gaining more data about calls."
"The solution only supports the cloud platform and not on-premises."
"I would like to have storage monitoring. E.g., being able to monitor SANS, specifically protocols, like NFS and CIFS metrics."
"Probably make the query language a little bit easier."
"In addition, its difficult to have a predictive tool to see how the application would behave in the future when it basically only shows the historical data."
"Internally, we have a solution that’s better than Insights to provide us analysis of that data."
"I'd like to see alerting based on custom insight queries."
"Solarwinds Web Performance Monitor needs to improve maintenance and support."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
"The new licensing model is great, as we pay for what we use (in computational units). However, the pricing is expensive compared to other tools."
"This is an expensive tool."
"I loved this product, but we can no longer afford it, so we dropped it."
"The price was one of the reasons we chose this solution."
"The product is neither cheap nor expensive, and I believe that it is a competitively-priced tool."
"We spend somewhere around $5,000 to $6,000 per month with an annual recommitment of maybe $60,000. These are just ballpark figures."
"The price of the solution could be less expensive. You have to pay a lot for each user. There is an additional cost for extra features."
