Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

Reliable monitoring has supported synthetic transactions and improved visibility for government operations
We do not have any issues with Solarwinds Web Performance Monitor, and we do not have any complaints about the performance. Solarwinds Web Performance Monitor is overall good regarding synthetic transaction monitoring and data virtualization. I would rate Solarwinds Web Performance Monitor a 10 out of 10 based on our experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The API functionality allows us to get hit counts from external sources, such as APIs or databases, and everything is mapped very clearly."
"The overview itself provides us clear visibility of how applications are doing, and provides us our response times, data rates, and Apdex score."
"New Relic helped with the mean time to detection, the MTDD metric tracked for applications, where the detection capability enabled a reduction from around 20 to 30 minutes down to three minutes, which has been really helpful in terms of detecting issues as well as helping to triage and troubleshoot issues faster, creating a positive impact on the organization."
"However, as a dev-ops tool, it has been priceless."
"The most valuable features are infrastructure monitoring and application performance monitoring (APM)."
"We were able to integrate with the messaging tool, Slack, which meant that we got notifications whenever something was not quite right."
"New Relic gave us a quick, easy way to monitor our web application for all of our systems."
"It has a simple initial setup."
"Everything is functioning well, the interface is intuitive and understandable, easy to read, to access utilization files and reports."

Cons

"Overall, New Relic is not as good as Dynatrace."
"The solution needs to have staging."
"It doesn't give us rich process tracing, which is the only complaint I have."
"There is no proper management of roles and divisions; if I develop a dashboard for myself, everyone else has access to it, and you just add someone to the platform and he gets access to all the dashboards."
"In the next release, I'd like to see a better pricing structure."
"We would like to receive more AWS-specific details from the New Relic Dashboard, like EC2 health."
"Currently, we don't have a way to send alerts which is a real pain."
"The pricing and licensing are too high."
"Solarwinds Web Performance Monitor needs to improve maintenance and support."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We feel it's a little bit pricey."
"If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
"The pricing is okay comparatively their competitors. The only concern was whether it should be purchased on demand or bring your own license, and which way passes some savings onto the end customers."
"Cost is significant with a lot of extras."
"Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was easy. The product is easy to deploy and manage, which is why our company purchased through the AWS Marketplace."
"The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
"The price of New Relic could improve. It is expensive."
"The product is neither cheap nor expensive, and I believe that it is a competitively-priced tool."
