Real-time monitoring enhances proactive issue identification and boosts productivity
The most valuable feature of Nexthink is its proactive issue identification, which is part of its unique selling proposition. It includes ITSM processes by identifying and resolving issues, thereby improving user experience and productivity enhancements. Real-time analytics is also effective as it involves real-time monitoring for proactive issue identification. Self-healing capabilities within the tool further enhance its value.

Alerting improves incident response across teams and enables faster awareness before customer impact
Splunk Observability Cloud could be improved in terms of integrations with more technical add-ons, such as Zoom. Although they have one with Zoom, it's not available in the cloud, so having that feature would be beneficial. Essentially, Splunk should continue expanding to create easier ways to ingest logs from different products. The out-of-the-box customizable dashboards in Splunk Observability Cloud are very effective in showcasing IT performance to business leaders. However, there are aspects that could be improved, such as linking dashboards to one another. While IT leaders may not drill down, it's crucial to create levels of dashboards for technical users to find root causes, making it effective for stakeholders.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution’s visualizations are very good. It's very easy to use them... We can give our senior managers, our directors, and our partners a dashboard at a very high level. They can very easily start to drill down by clicking through the dashboard and find stuff that doesn't look right. And our technical teams can use the same thing to identify problems in specific locations."
"Nexthink is valuable for showing real-time data."
"The solution is stable."
"Nexthink's best features are Engage and Act, which we use in combination for self-healing use cases."
"This is a proactive management tool and we make use of the metrics, dashboard creation and complete remote actions on end user machines."
"Although limited to 100,000,000 events per engine, it is suffice to do investigations for more than 30 days."
"In the past two years, the biggest benefit is that we have been able to identify 57,000-plus defects. These are possible tickets that we are preventing by using Nexthink."
"The search engine functionality that Nexthink has on the finder is terrific."
"Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring reduces our mean time to resolve. We are more proactive than reactive."
"The initial setup was straightforward. We didn't find it to be too complex."
"Splunk's dashboards are great."
"I find the monitoring console very helpful. With one click, I can see how we are performing, and at the same time, I can see what data is flowing."
"It is a great resource for us because we have so many different data sources and to be able to aggregate that and put it through a concise dashboard or an alert really helps."
"The solution monitors attacks or unauthorized access to the information we want to protect."
"It supports proactive management, enhances security, and improves operational efficiency."
"Great monitoring of network devices."

Cons

"The stability of this solution could be greatly improved to avoid performance issues."
"Nexthink could have better integration with ITSM tools - at the moment, they only integrate with ServiceNow, so adding other tools, like HP SMAX, would be very useful."
"The tool should improve its pricing and performance. It also have nothing related to patch management."
"The solution could provide more training. There should be proper documentation on the solution because even for small issues we have needed to reach out to the support team. The person who is doing all the administration work should have the proper information, but the problem is the documentation is lacking. There is no proper training or documentation available. Nexthink is holding all the information. We want to learn, but you can not without the information."
"There could be improvements in monitoring user sentiments."
"They were having some limitations on the number of alerts that you can generate. This definitely needs to be increased."
"There could be improvements in monitoring user sentiments. Currently, user sentiment is not being monitored, meaning if a user faces multiple issues, their sentiments cannot be captured through the tool."
"It would be good to have a more controlled way to access their cloud environment."
"The RUM part of Splunk Observability Cloud can be improved significantly."
"They can get more integration with a few more products. They can also update some of the dashboards that are in there now."
"Splunk Observability Cloud could be improved with better integration with AppDynamics, as we know that's coming, however, it is an issue we've had between the OpenTelemetry and the AppDynamics collector."
"This solution is difficult to configure and the instructions are complex."
"Once you see the issues related to the scalability part, you need to understand that it is a warning triangle. After seeing the warning triangle, you need to realize that you cannot trust any of the numbers you see in the chart because it is not a complete, full data set."
"Overall, I would rate Splunk Observability Cloud a three out of ten."
"Integrating some third-party add-ons can be challenging, involving many implementation and configuration steps."
"Unfortunately, with our current setup, we just have to implement Log Observer in a couple of instances so that we can have that integration with Splunk Observability Cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Nexthink can pay for itself quickly if you identify and complete the most valuable use cases. The tool can do so much that to purely compare the price in a static way to other tools in your arsenal would be a mistake. If you do a more dynamic comparison that’s based on the overall functionality and use cases possible then it comes out cheaper. You need to consider it a relative measurement against potential use cases, size of the organization, maturity of organization, etc."
"There are certain layers when it comes to pricing. The product has three layers and these layers are associated with certain sources. For example, the top layer have the premium services and the bottom layer has the basic services."
"I have seen it help improve the user experience scores. This helped clients to save costs on another tool that they were trying to deploy in order to improve the user experience by just deploying some scripts. We were able to identify the issues and help them remediate those using our help. The process does not take much time and it provided background on end user performance. Therefore, they were able to save a lot, e.g., for approximately 50,000 endpoints at two dollars per machine per year, that is about $100,000 in savings."
"With this implementation of the Act and Engage module, I believe that there is a one-time fee for a two-month period, which is for the support team to make additional customizations."
"I would rate the tool's pricing a nine out of ten. The tool's pricing model is pay-as-you-use."
"The solution's pricing is competitive. I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten. The price of the solution could be cheaper."
"Splunk Observability Cloud is expensive."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Licensing cost is the biggest argument I get from those divesting from Splunk. There are those within our organization who say we are going to go to other tools since Splunk is too expensive."
"The price of Splunk APM is less than some of its competitors."
"I am not in that circle, but we are currently licensing based on our queries. That is working out for us. Previously, it was by volume of data, and now, we can store as much data as we want."
"It is expensive."
"The product is a bit expensive considering the competition but the company may negotiate the price."
