Significant backup for containers, but the customer service is terrible
Anyone considering this solution should not compare it to the old versions. They should be a partner with Virtuozzo and run all the certifications. Also, they need a good lab to understand the technology and how they can apply that technology conveniently. This is very commercial software. It does not have support, so you will need to be hands-on. I would rate Odin Virtuozzo a six out of 10 overall.

Has supported ethical training effectively but configuration needs to be more user-friendly
When evaluating Oracle VM, I have concerns about the configuration being too complex and not user-friendly. It doesn't perform optimally on iOS, which is an Apple laptop, but works very well on Windows. To improve Oracle VM, the configuration needs to be more user-friendly and less rigid. Additionally, compatibility with Apple laptops needs improvement as it currently doesn't work well on that platform.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When you run templates on the containers on Virtuozzo they have a lot of back-ups."
"Oracle is probably the best database technology out there. I've never found anything as complete in terms of feature and functionality and sophistication."
"The product is simple and easy to use."
"I don't need to create a repository to allocate storage to my virtual machine, rather I can just use store locally."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"The solution is very stable. I don't recall any bugs or glitches. It's reliable. It doesn't crash or freeze."
"I rate Oracle VM's scalability a ten out of ten."
"The stability of the product is fine."
"Oracle VMs and logical domains have proven reliable over the years."

Cons

"Odin Virtuozzo has poor support and needs to improve."
"Odin Virtuozzo has poor support and needs to improve."
"Unfortunately, I didn’t see the same level of expertise as I see regarding Oracle Databases. Oracle must improve their support skills and knowledge base to help clients with issues."
"Oracle VM is not very stable. When you encounter any issue, it's unclear what is happening."
"I think it needs a more simplified way of provisioning external storage networks."
"We do have a little trepidation with systemd, as it does have a learning curve."
"Not every upgrade goes smoothly, and after an upgrade, it sometimes stops working. There are cases where I had to downgrade the system to get it working again."
"While the software is still missing a lot of capabilities which its major competitor (VMware) has and a performance boost is highly recommended, it could still be a choice if you have to virtualize Oracle software."
"The documentation for implementation could be improved because we were not able to find an easy way to implement our company's features due to a lack of understanding."
"There are also some features around it, extracting virtual machines and managing it, that could show some improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license for Odin Virtuozzo is based on consumption on demand."
"We were able to deploy our solution at near zero cost compared to other vendors since the licenses come with our Oracle hardware."
"The user will be charged accordingly as well—pay as you go. Basically, you get charged only for storage. If I stop a VM, then I'm not charged for the CPU usage. So, that's fine."
"Licensing costs are less for Oracle Linux and for clients moving to the Oracle Cloud, as it is included in the price of the subscription."
"The cost of this solution is cheap. It is one of the reasons we chose Oracle VM. It is truly "pocket- friendly.""
"The licensing for Oracle VM solution is very nice because you license the box."
"Oracle is free of charge, although you have to have a subscription for the support."
"Oracle VM follows an annual subscription model."
"With having a global contract, we get some discounts."

If you want to access the VM from anywhere over the Internet, you put it in a public subnet. So, VMs are linked to that. The subnets are linked to it. So, it's perfectly secured if it's a private n...
