Significant backup for containers, but the customer service is terrible
Anyone considering this solution should not compare it to the old versions. They should be a partner with Virtuozzo and run all the certifications. Also, they need a good lab to understand the technology and how they can apply that technology conveniently. This is very commercial software. It does not have support, so you will need to be hands-on. I would rate Odin Virtuozzo a six out of 10 overall.

Effortless management with robust support enhances performance and cost savings
My primary use case for Proxmox VE focuses on replacing VMware solutions and migrating to a Centric Solution for medium-sized companies. This product serves as a hypervisor in environments where performance is crucial Proxmox VE has provided performance improvements, particularly with its…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When you run templates on the containers on Virtuozzo they have a lot of back-ups."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that it allows customers to use the power of KVM easily."
"The solution's maintenance part was very easy."
"Proxmox VE, I found to be the easiest to use, quickest in terms of response, and has the best functionality."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is that its storage container, LVM, and everything else work out of the box."
"Proxmox VE has many containers. You need to download the image and do basic configuration, after which it is operational within a few minutes. The solution provides many containers that are light in use and don't use a lot of memory. You don't have to spend a lot of resources."
"The clusters are pretty much good and have a high performance and impact."
"The affordability of the solution is the product's most valuable aspect."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is performance, it is fast."

Cons

"Odin Virtuozzo has poor support and needs to improve."
"Its user interface can be improved. In the version that I am using, not all functions can be performed by using the UI. There can be some improvement on that. I'm assuming that it has already been improved in the latest version."
"The compatibility with non-English operating systems needs to be improved."
"We have only command lines for a management application to remove sites. The solution needs a proper GUI."
"The product is still a little young so it is maturing, but new features are coming out all the time."
"Backup and recovery could be better. It's a bit problematic. If you're not well-versed with Linux, it tends to be a bit of a challenge when setting up and recovering. It's not really GUI-based, and if you're not a good Linux user, it becomes a bit difficult. In the next release, I would like to have something like Hyper-V's Data Protection Manager, where you could do an offsite backup and keep a copy. I haven't seen that incorporated yet, but I'm sure they will do that."
"It's one of those things for me to move things on to the cloud. It's not so easy."
"It might be interesting to have the ability to integrate with other cloud solutions."
"We are using servers individually, and we are looking for a reliable application that allows us to hop between servers with high availability."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license for Odin Virtuozzo is based on consumption on demand."
"The cost is excellent."
"To use Proxmox VE there is not a license required. However, you can purchase a support license, which you access, but it doesn't change the functionality of the solution."
"The tool is free."
"I cannot subscribe to Proxmox VE's support because it is expensive."
"Proxmox VE is affordable. It's cheaper than Hyper-V, Huawei Desktop Protocol, and Huawei Desktop Cloud."
"The product is open-source and I rate its pricing an eight out of ten. You need to pay for support and it is costly."
"An excellent choice for budget sensitive operations."
"I am not aware of the licensing cost, but there is a cost for support."
