Centralized identity governance has automated lifecycle management and simplifies compliance
One Identity Manager could be improved by making the initial setup and configuration simpler, especially for complex workflows and integrations. The user interface and reporting dashboards could also be more modern and intuitive with better out-of-the-box analytics. Additionally, clearer documentation and faster implementation guidance would help organizations get value more quickly. One specific challenge my team encountered was the complexity during initial configuration, especially when setting up custom workflows and role models which required more time and expertise. We also felt that out-of-the-box reports and dashboards are limited, and more customizable real-time analytics would be helpful. Better documentation and guided setup wizards would make adoption easier, particularly for teams new to identity governance tools. One improvement I think One Identity Manager needs is the enhanced self-service experience. The end-user self-service portal could be more intuitive with clearer guidance for access requests and password resets. Additionally, while integrations are solid, deeper cloud-native connectors and API-driven automation would help in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. A more responsive mobile interface or dedicated app for approvals and tasks would help managers who are often on the go. One more improvement is the built-in predictive insights or trend dashboards around access patterns and risk could improve proactive governance. More descriptive error messages and in-tool troubleshooting tips during setup configuration would reduce dependency on external documentation or support.

Reduced calls to the Service Desk for password resets but it does need a deployment mechanism
The availability to use a web portal Reduced calls to the Service Desk for password resets. They could include a deployment mechanism. I've used it for four years. No issues with deployment. No issues with stability. No issues with scalability. Customer Service: Very good. Technical…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"What I like the most is the flexibility or configurability."
"From an end-user perspective, it is very easy to use."
"We have seen a slight reduction in help desk calls, as this solution is a self-service product."
"While our journey to find a solution was tiring and we invested a lot of work and knowledge, our expectations have been reached and even exceeded."
"One Identity has the biggest out-of-the-box functionality set. I've worked with other platforms like SAP that have a lot of features, but One Identity Manager is on top."
"I am a strong advocate for One Identity Manager because it provides a single platform for enterprise-level administration and governance of users, data, and privileged accounts."
"One Identity Manager provides a wide range of features that enable connection to numerous target systems."
"With this product, we been able to bring together HR, IT, and lifecycle management. It is very helpful for managing the Joiner/Mover/Leaver process. We also use it for compliance on all the audits which are around."
"Easy to enter and track licensing, a history of successful and failed attempts, easy for the users, and low cost."
"It’s an excellent solution, with great security."
"Customer Service: Very good. Technical Support: Excellent."

Cons

"There are occasional issues with the UI or errors when servers are not up and running, often requiring a restart from cache memory and other related areas."
"The initial setup of One Identity Manager can be complex due to the requirements for infrastructure setup, database or server resources, IAM consultants for implementation, custom workflow development, connector configuration, testing, and migration work."
"One area that could be improved is the speed of performance - it's often a bit slower because of the size of its database."
"With technical support, it is always an issue to get the right person. They do have good technical people in support, but it is sometimes not so easy to get them."
"The support from One Identity is very poor. The response is often delayed and lacks actionable advice, such as suggesting updates without confidence in their effectiveness."
"The downside of the product is it is complex and you need an implementation partner to help you develop it. You can't do it on your own."
"We take screenshots with the time stamp and give them to the auditors. That's cumbersome to do, even if we're only audited once or twice yearly. I take a screenshot and then show them the time to prove that the configuration is consistent. We have built-in processes to take regular screenshots and store them in a secure place for the auditors. It would be helpful if One Identity store the configuration details as a snapshot. It would also help with any rollbacks or change reviews that the organization might want to do."
"I have not personally contacted customer service, but I have heard from colleagues who did, and they were not happy about the support."
"They could include a deployment mechanism."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"One Identity Manager's pricing is competitive and in line with what other companies offer."
"It is fairly priced because they provide all the features by default. That is why they charge a bit more than other vendors. I am not sure about the exact cost part, but One Identity is a little bit more expensive than IBM and other tools."
"One Identity Manager is fairly priced."
"We pay yearly and per active user. One of the reasons that we chose One Identity Manager is because of the pricing. It is reasonable and affordable compared to other products which we considered before choosing this solution for the company."
"Its price is okay."
"The pricing is reasonable compared to other solutions."
"Start with an operations team that is motivated to learn a lot in a short period of time. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will be to get the right level of expertise in this area."
"Pricing depends on licensing models, such as per-user licensing and feature-based pricing. Additional models like governance, provisioning, and reporting increase costs."
