Is scalable and easy to use, but the monitoring feature needs improvement
The support for Micro Focus Service Virtualization is better than that for other products. The technical support staff are highly skilled. Sometimes, we don't have to open a ticket. We can just go into the community and then talk to them directly. I would rate technical support at seven out of ten.

Easy to set up and scale but needs more data virtualization capabilities
I'm working with a service organization and I'm working for a client and that client requires this solution. That's why we use it. Basically, we are just a customer and end-user. The solution is easy to set up and a good tool for the service virtualization so far. I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. If the product could do more things, I'd give it higher marks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This product has provided us the capability to virtualize dependent systems, which has resulted in the following improvements to our organization: More productivity No dependency on third-party systems Faster test execution cycles."
"Some of the key differentiators of this tool – Easy to use, built-in integration with HP tools like LoadRunner, ALM and UFT, built-in integration with revision control software, support for multiple technologies including SAP, support for network virtualization, and the ability to control virtual services from ALM, HP ServiceTest, LoadRunner, and UFT."
"The support for integration patterns and the ease of use to wizard-based utility is what I would consider the most important features for service virtualization platforms."
"Performance testing and infrastructure costs were reduced because of virtual services."
"The purpose for this tool is very obvious and Micro Focus covers it very well."
"Service Virtualization cuts down dependency across dev as well as any third party components."
"With this solution, you don't have to use your production services for implementing other software uses."
"HPE SV helped me and my ALM team minimize workforce, reduce costs, and transition from hardware to virtualization; my software is more secure preproduction."
"The technical support is very good, with short lines and short response times from well-skilled technical employees."
"Service Virtualization has provided a way to move forward where we do not find any way to go."
"We now have the ability to test our complex applications completely detached from integration middleware, which improves the reliability, speed, cost, and simplicity of testing."
"Using Virtualize, this dependency has been removed completely, allowing the test team to provision many more orders in shorter time, enabling them to test much more, much faster."
"We decided to use the Parasoft solution because it's more powerful and very easy to use."
"Parasoft Virtualization allowed us to create a simulated environment and test the code before entering the testing cycle."
"The solution is easy to set up and a good tool for the service virtualization so far."
"Parasoft Virtualize helped us in accelerating application delivery by allowing us to test early."

Cons

"As it stands now, the debugging capacity within the tool is fairly limited."
"I think the biggest issues that I've seen, and this is a personal view of mine, is that most of the HPE products have a common look and feel to them."
"I’m rating it a 7 because it is not a fully evolved virtualization tool compared to other tools offering the same service."
"I would like them to reduce the cost of the licenses."
"The monitoring feature is not impressive because they use Windows for so much monitoring. They set a lock on the window, and then we have to gather the information from the main monitoring feature in the Windows server. There is not enough capacity for problem solving performance issues."
"HP should work on providing better scripting support and include more communication and transport protocols."
"The stability of the product, it’s still a work in progress."
"The integration with other solutions, such as ALM and Jira, should be improved."
"When Virtualize is running on a (virtual) machine with limited memory, over time it might consume more and more memory and (worst case) stall."
"Only about the memory, if you don't meet the minimum RAM required, performance is not stable."
"It is somewhat complex regarding its configuration setup with different technologies."
"Performance enhancement for large payloads."
"This product is too expensive when scaling."
"JMS Queue Monitoring: When deploying the TIBCO JMS monitor, we saw an approximately 50% failure rate in detecting the desired event."
"It should have more fine-grained authorization."
"An area of improvements would be Data Repository, as in current stage it is difficult to manage data from this aspect."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's an expensive solution, but you can get discounts. You have to buy one server and one designer together, for example, and it may cost 15 million Thai Baht."
"Micro Service Virtualization is very expensive. The pricing of this product is in line with all of the other big name-brand products."
