Is scalable and easy to use, but the monitoring feature needs improvement
The support for Micro Focus Service Virtualization is better than that for other products. The technical support staff are highly skilled. Sometimes, we don't have to open a ticket. We can just go into the community and then talk to them directly. I would rate technical support at seven out of ten.

Easy to set up and scale but needs more data virtualization capabilities
I'm working with a service organization and I'm working for a client and that client requires this solution. That's why we use it. Basically, we are just a customer and end-user. The solution is easy to set up and a good tool for the service virtualization so far. I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. If the product could do more things, I'd give it higher marks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Some of the key differentiators of this tool – Easy to use, built-in integration with HP tools like LoadRunner, ALM and UFT, built-in integration with revision control software, support for multiple technologies including SAP, support for network virtualization, and the ability to control virtual services from ALM, HP ServiceTest, LoadRunner, and UFT."
"The purpose for this tool is very obvious and Micro Focus covers it very well."
"Teams have reduced the amount of delayed development effort it takes to roll out a new product by leveraging a virtual service for development and then meeting up for a final integration test when it is complete."
"The feature which is most valuable in this solution is the ease of use; the product is very easy to use and implement, and we can adjust the performance level to simulate the best service, normal services, or bad situations in many possible ways."
"HPE SV helped me and my ALM team minimize workforce, reduce costs, and transition from hardware to virtualization; my software is more secure preproduction."
"Service virtualization enables our teams to create, develop, and test software against virtual services that simulate real service behavior with no constraints, available anytime."
"Performance testing and infrastructure costs were reduced because of virtual services."
"Don't give up. It may sound very expensive at the beginning, but we have realized more than $15 million in savings at one of our major healthcare clients."
"Parasoft Virtualize helped us in accelerating application delivery by allowing us to test early."
"Parasoft Virtualization allowed us to create a simulated environment and test the code before entering the testing cycle."
"Easy testing environment creation. No need to have deep development/infrastructure knowledge."
"Using Virtualize, this dependency has been removed completely, allowing the test team to provision many more orders in shorter time, enabling them to test much more, much faster."
"Parasoft's product is easier to operate, and drives the user to make the right decisions and complete the work efficiently."
"We now have the ability to test our complex applications completely detached from integration middleware, which improves the reliability, speed, cost, and simplicity of testing."
"The initial setup is quite easy to manage."
"We decided to use the Parasoft solution because it's more powerful and very easy to use."

Cons

"The stability of the product, it’s still a work in progress."
"I am not impressed with the technical support provided by Micro Focus (for an official ticket)."
"Early on though, we saw some stability issues with the design that would occasionally crash."
"I’m rating it a 7 because it is not a fully evolved virtualization tool compared to other tools offering the same service."
"A lot of technology, a lot of Microsoft services, a lot of support to the functionality aspect of it - they need to mature a lot."
"The developers area Performance testers"
"HP should work on providing better scripting support and include more communication and transport protocols."
"The integration with other solutions, such as ALM and Jira, should be improved."
"JMS Queue Monitoring: When deploying the TIBCO JMS monitor, we saw an approximately 50% failure rate in detecting the desired event."
"It should have more fine-grained authorization."
"Only about the memory, if you don't meet the minimum RAM required, performance is not stable."
"An area of improvements would be Data Repository, as in current stage it is difficult to manage data from this aspect."
"It is somewhat complex regarding its configuration setup with different technologies."
"When Virtualize is running on a (virtual) machine with limited memory, over time it might consume more and more memory and (worst case) stall."
"Performance enhancement for large payloads."
"It would be ideal if the product offered more in terms of data virtualization or have a separate product that could be combined with this one that could offer a bit more in order to cover more of our requirements."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's an expensive solution, but you can get discounts. You have to buy one server and one designer together, for example, and it may cost 15 million Thai Baht."
"Micro Service Virtualization is very expensive. The pricing of this product is in line with all of the other big name-brand products."
