Is scalable and easy to use, but the monitoring feature needs improvement
The support for Micro Focus Service Virtualization is better than that for other products. The technical support staff are highly skilled. Sometimes, we don't have to open a ticket. We can just go into the community and then talk to them directly. I would rate technical support at seven out of ten.

End-to-end regression automation has accelerated delivery and now secures complex test data
I think Tosca can be improved, particularly in AI capabilities because right now Tosca does not have any strong API capabilities. It has some AI features in the newer version, but many organizations have not adopted these due to version-specific problems, as some are still using older versions. From an AI point of view, they can enhance reliability since the world is moving towards AI, and every tool must be integrated. While Tosca has made attempts, I have not used them and they are not widely adopted, so they are stuck in the testing phase in my organization. I would also mention that while I am currently using Tosca Mobile, the loading part and connectivity issues need improvement. They should better integrate AI features that are already present but not widely used across many organizations. Reliability on the AI aspect needs enhancement for practical application. From the perspective of governance and security, I believe Tosca can develop its own LLM or leverage third-party LLMs while maintaining security and risk management regarding client data. Many companies prefer using Tosca due to data security, which is crucial. An in-house LLM could significantly enhance its debugging power and provide helpful solutions upon test case failure.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We used technical support once in a while. The support is fantastic."
"Service Virtualization is key."
"Service virtualization enables our teams to create, develop, and test software against virtual services that simulate real service behavior with no constraints, available anytime."
"Service Virtualization plays a major role in transforming your development, testing, and operating engineer into a business engineer."
"Don't give up. It may sound very expensive at the beginning, but we have realized more than $15 million in savings at one of our major healthcare clients."
"The support for integration patterns and the ease of use to wizard-based utility is what I would consider the most important features for service virtualization platforms."
"The most valuable feature is that it reduces the dependency so that the down time of the environment is not a major cost. That cost can be used for something else like the cloud."
"The purpose for this tool is very obvious and Micro Focus covers it very well."
"Tricentis Tosca is different and better, because it has a reusable model, whereas the others do not."
"Tricentis Tosca is well integrated with other products like Jira."
"The solution has improved our time to release on production; everything is automated now, which makes everything move faster."
"Tricentis Tosca positively impacts my organization because it provides a full end-to-end automation solution, whether it is mainframe, DB, API, mobile, Windows application, web application, SAP applications, or any kind of application."
"This solution is very easy to learn and any non-programmer or manual tester, with little experience in automation, can pick it up quite easily."
"Object Identification Wizard."
"The item that is different from all the other tools is that it's module based."
"The most valuable feature is the UI-based interface for building modules and turning modules into test cases."

Cons

"I’m rating it a 7 because it is not a fully evolved virtualization tool compared to other tools offering the same service."
"The developers area Performance testers"
"More support for different protocols. I would love to see more wizards rather than relying on some custom coding, which you can use C# as well as Visual Basic scripting. In the service virtualization platform, I would love to see more wizard features as well as the ability to connect to an external database, which by the way, we have put an enhancement request in for. I'd love to see that in the service virtualization platform."
"It could needs to be a lot more scalable."
"The monitoring feature is not impressive because they use Windows for so much monitoring."
"The monitoring feature is not impressive because they use Windows for so much monitoring. They set a lock on the window, and then we have to gather the information from the main monitoring feature in the Windows server. There is not enough capacity for problem solving performance issues."
"A lot of technology, a lot of Microsoft services, a lot of support to the functionality aspect of it - they need to mature a lot."
"I am not impressed with the technical support provided by Micro Focus (for an official ticket)."
"Setup wasn't that straightforward; it was more complex. It all depends on the environment, because there were a lot of errors on our applications. Therefore, it wasn't an easy setup for us."
"I would like to be able to manage different projects in one repository or have better data exchange between repositories."
"It can be quite expensive."
"The stability and reliability of Tricentis Tosca is just 60% for me."
"Sometimes new features do not work as shown on slides, in the first release."
"With the license stability, we have had a lot of issues. There were many interruptions to the connection and it took two-three weeks and we installed the license ourselves."
"We ended up going back to Selenium as this tool was very slow with the web applications."
"Getting support from their support team is very difficult; the overall competence of the support has declined, and it's taking a lot of time to get solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's an expensive solution, but you can get discounts. You have to buy one server and one designer together, for example, and it may cost 15 million Thai Baht."
"Micro Service Virtualization is very expensive. The pricing of this product is in line with all of the other big name-brand products."
"Pricing for Tricentis Tosca could be improved because it's very expensive."
"We have around 200 [concurrent] licenses and the cost around $1.4 million a year."
"The tool is expensive. It has become overpriced, especially after Tricentis Tosca grew as a company. Initially, we bought a license with an annual support fee, which wasn't too expensive. However, they changed the model, and now we have to purchase a license yearly, which has become quite costly."
"Tricentis Tosca is not expensive at all."
"Although the product is slightly more expensive than tools, its automation capabilities and reduced scripting needs justify the cost."
"If you are purchasing less than five licenses, then the pricing is high. On a scale from one to ten, with one being low and ten being high pricing, I would rate this solution at eight."
"Tricentis Tosca is an expensive solution and there is an annual license required. The whole licensing process is confusing and it could be made easier."
"The tool's pricing is lower than that of other automation tools."
