Provides different types of logs, but the logs are dispersed in different layers
As per RBI's regulations, we have to perform active log collection and retention of logs for a certain period. The market is too competitive, and various technologies are being adopted. Different cloud providers are available in the market. I am an SIEM service provider. My technology should be well-versed to accommodate all kinds of landscapes from where I can actively collect and process real-time events. I might lose a customer if I miss something due to a technical glitch. Once I address a specific requirement, Oracle should consider it a universal problem. We have to secure the information assets in today's world. This information should be secure in all kinds of environments and geographies, whether deployed on-premise or on the cloud. All different types of logs are available in a unified manner in Oracle. Overall, I rate the solution a five or six out of ten.

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is mapping."

"The IT analysis provides the best solution as to how the infrastructure is going."
"Using this solution enables our users to figure out, within a second, any problems with the application or the database."
"The dashboards are very well-defined."
"The solution is very, very stable. We haven't faced any bugs or glitches on the system."
"It allows us to configure health rules so that we can, based on our own experience, determine when an application is behaving incorrectly."
"AppDynamics is easy to implement if you follow the documentation, and the documentation that they provide is good."
"Visibility to the end-users is a valuable feature."
"Server Monitoring has saved us time."
"AppDynamics provides visibility on slowness or problems in production and processes in revenue-related products or software, as well as generating performance and availability metrics."
"APM really helps us in getting down to the bottom of these sorts of workloads; how code responds to these sorts of workloads and how we can make our application deliver better latency and a better end-user experience."

Cons

"The pricing could be improved."
"The reporting is sometimes a little slow."
"The logs in the solution are dispersed in different layers, so we have to pick the logs from different areas."
"I would like to see support for mobile testing and mobile monitoring."
"The solution's pricing could be improved and made more competitive."
"I would like to see improvements with the dashboards. Dashboards and reports is where we see a lot of lag."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is cheap compared to its alternatives."

"I was not involved with the procurement of AppDynamic, but I believe it's expensive."
"AppDynamics is more expensive than competitors."
"The solution has a high cost."
"I rate AppDynamics Mobile Real-User Monitoring's pricing as seven out of ten. Mobile monitoring is paid based on the number of instances utilizing the mobile monitoring service, which increases as the scale grows. Consequently, your mobile user count can proportionally surpass all other applications."
"It is expensive. However, our time to recover has been reduced, and this product has helped recuperate costs and provided us with ROI."
"There were no added costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"The solution is highly expensive"
