Expert Backup at a tech services company with 201-500 employees
A virtual deduplication backup appliance that protects physical and virtual data across remote sites, the datacenter and cloud deployments
Given its ease of use and management, I believe there are no specific caveats that users need to be aware of during the setup of DXRIS for backups. The process was straightforward, and I did not encounter any challenges or issues. As for a rating on a scale of one to ten, with one being the worst and ten being the best, I would rate the Quantum DXI Series a nine. My deduction is primarily influenced by personal preferences, particularly regarding the user interface and it is a highly commendable system, I would rate it a solid nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I am impressed with the tool's technical alliance with Veeam and Veritas."
"While the challenges posed by the difficulties were significant, they prompted the replacement of problematic components, resulting in the resolution of issues. Importantly, there were no substantial ongoing concerns. Regarding the overall performance, it has been consistently excellent."
"This is a very flexible product, which allows you to back up not only the physical environment but also the cloud environment."
"The solution is very fast, it does not take a long time to backup everything, and our backup operator and admin can handle all aspects of the solution quite easily while it is very good at allowing us to back up the servers."
"We have a lot of success stories with this solution."
"The initial setup is easy."
"One of the valuable features is the instant recovery for VMs, as it reduces the RTO (Recovery Time Objective) drastically."
"The beauty of the solution is that you can rely on it. It offers a quick recovery time when it's backing up items. The way it recovers data is excellent."
"Veritas is simple and easy to deploy, and in terms of the presentation and UI, they do their job well."
"This solution has a very good technical support department that is very responsive."

Cons

"The product needs to improve performance while scaling out. It also needs to improve stability."
"Perhaps the most notable area for enhancement lies in the web interface for management. The current limitations in LDAP editing capabilities are not addressed in the UI, and I haven't observed any recent updates. It's possible that the new version of the DXI service incorporates improvements in the GUI, but I cannot confirm. While there is room for improvement in the current GUI, it remains a relatively minor issue. Overall, the system is comprehensive, covering aspects such as reports on latency and networking, leaving little room for additional enhancements in those areas."
"The integration with SaaS applications like Office 365 needs to be improved."
"The overall product rating is five out of ten."
"It could provide better ease of management than one of its competitors."
"I would like to be able to create a restore task that can be scheduled so that the same restore action will be performed automatically."
"In my opinion, it should be simple and straightforward. It is currently a little complicated."
"The image backup functionality needs to be examined, because I know a few customers who are using Veritas Backup Exec find it difficult to take a proper image backup and perform image restoration in case of a hardware failure of the client."
"One area for improvement is Veritas's pricing."
"The price of this solution is very high."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I do not oversee this aspect, as pricing is contingent on factors such as volume, technical specifications, and the desired features. Consequently, I lack information on the pricing details and structure."
"I rate the price of Veritas Backup Exec a four out of five."
"The solution could be more cost-effective."
"Pricing is similar, but they don´t offer the same options/technology."
"Depending on the scenario, it can cost less than half of the price of other methods."
"Veritas licensing is somewhat expensive. They have to decrease the price."
"The pricing can be improved."
"I think it's sold at the right price. It's not expensive. The license is usually for a year."
"There is an evaluation license available to test this solution."
