Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Easy to manage and simple to learn
We use Red Hat a lot. I open tickets for the Red Hat cases, however, with Ansible, I haven't opened any cases. My manager worked with them a bit. If we have a problem with some file and we need to get Red Hat to analyze the issue and the file is 100GBs, we'll have an issue since we need to provide a log file for them to analyze. If it is around 12GB or 13GB, we can easily upload it to the Red Hat portal. With more than 100GBs, it will fail. I heard it should cover up to 250GB for an upload, however, I find it fails. Therefore, Red Hat needs to provide a way to handle this.

Though the initial setup phase is straightforward, its stability needs to improve
The solution's initial setup is straightforward. The deployment process took me around ten minutes to fifteen minutes. I can do the configuration. Setting up Eureka Servers and all those things, it will take three-four hours. For deployment, you need to add Spring Cloud plugin to a manual, and then you can start to build, and it will be built. It is not complex, so it is very straightforward since one just needs to add the plugin. Spring Cloud is a component. It is not a, like, tool or software since it is a free cloud, for which a Eureka Server is needed for configuration. So, it is a dependency you need to add to your Maven. Then, you can work on that. So, it will not take much time for engineers to do that.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Intune's integration with Microsoft 365 is exceptional."
"Microsoft integrated BitLocker and Active Directory into Intune, simplifying management."
"The ability to push applications on devices is valuable. You do not have to manually install applications one by one. If you like to use ten different applications, you do not have to manually go and download them one by one. Intune can compile a package for you, and then you can just push them from the admin center."
"Microsoft's cloud comes with a lot of extra features that are free of charge."
"This product offers an alternative solution to other UEM (Unified Endpoint Management) solutions."
"The insights, even though we're talking about charts and graphs, are super valuable to customers who might not otherwise know what's in their ecosystem or the current state of things within their ecosystem."
"A valuable feature is user enrollment, where users can enroll their devices in their organizations themselves."
"We are transforming our flat network by adopting different cloud solutions, and our own applications are hosted in the cloud. Intune ensures our security throughout our entire cloud-based system, improving our security posture."
"There are so many models that I don't have to create one."
"Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is quite stable. If you set it up correctly with the right configurations and there are no hiccups during installation and deployment, it will be stable. I'd give stability a rating of eight out of ten."
"Having the Dashboard from an admin point of view, and seeing how all the projects and all the jobs lay out, is helpful."
"The biggest thing I liked about Ansible is the check mode so that we can verify, after we've pushed, that the config there is actually what we intended."
"There are no agents by default, so adding a new server is a matter of a couple lines of configuration (on a new server and the configuration master)."
"The automation is the most valuable feature."
"Its checking and validating ensures our packages are properly patched."
"It increases our company's efficiency, automating all the simple tasks which used to take hours of somebody's time."
"It offers excellent scalability."
"The solution's initial setup is straightforward. The deployment process took me around ten minutes to fifteen minutes."
"Spring Cloud integrates well."

Cons

"Sometimes, updating a client policy is very difficult. This needs to be improved."
"Intune could add more features that are relevant to the core application control functions. For example, it would be helpful if it had more control over the on-prem environment from the cloud platform. Greater Teams availability in the Saudi market would also be helpful."
"To make it a perfect ten, it would be helpful if there was a better way to troubleshoot user issues, as I've had a few users with corrupt files before and had to redeploy it without knowing the root cause."
"The solution could improve by having better integration with Apple."
"The reporting is subpar. That's the only issue we have with Intune. We use another solution for that purpose."
"There is still a gap between SCCM and Intune, especially in the reporting, inventory, and software deployment areas."
"We would like to see support for Chrome and/or devices for Chromebooks."
"There are some issues using the solution with macOS and iOS, and it offers limited granular control with them. Intune works better on Windows and Android."
"At this time, I do not have anything to improve. What we struggle with is the knowledge base, but that is more about us having to go and find it and learn the platform on our own rather than an actual Ansible issue."
"Ansible has just been upgraded, and the only issue that we are seeing at the moment is that the user interface can be slow. We're currently investigating the refresh period with Red Hat when you click a job and run a job. It seems that the buffer no longer runs in real-time. We haven't discovered whether that's partially an issue with our environment, but Red Hat has come back and said that they're working on a couple of bugs in the background. We've upgraded to that version in the last six months, and that's the only issue that we've seen."
"More library support for microservices architecture and Kubernetes would be helpful."
"The solution requires some Linux knowledge."
"What I'm trying to figure out, personally, is, when doing mass updates, how I can parallelize that a little bit better. It seems right now - and maybe, it's a shortcoming on my end - that I run through one set of servers, and then another set of servers, ad then another set of servers, but it seems like I could throw a lot of these checks out. Different types of servers, like web servers and DB servers, if I could parallelize that a little bit to make everything run a little bit more efficiently, that would help."
"Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is not the best at server provisioning. Terraform is better."
"The user interface on the Ansible Tower product could be better, but it is functional."
"There are challenges in using the graphical interface, particularly in open-source versions."
"If there's a dashboard like the ones provided by Apigee or Kong, that will be useful."
"Stability is one area in the solution that needs to improve."
"It would be beneficial for the framework to become more lightweight and efficient when transitioning to the cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"Microsoft Intune is expensive."
"Licensing depends on how you are providing support to your enterprise, whether it's device-based or user-based."
"Microsoft's licensing is more flexible and adaptive than its competitors."
"It is reasonable for the features it has."
"It is cheap, but as compared to Google, it is costly. Google is cheaper, but quality-wise, Microsoft Intune is better."
"Microsoft Intune is pretty reasonable. We have difficulty with Azure, which is probably why we have not put many assets in Azure. Everything we put there is very expensive."
"Consider the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite rather than choosing specific sub-components, e.g. only Microsoft Intune."
"We went with product because we have a subscription for Red Hat."
"Customers need to pay yearly for the license."
"Ansible Tower is free. Until they lower the cost, we are holding off on purchasing the product."
"Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is an expensive solution. There may be additional fees to use advanced features."
"If you only need to use Ansible, it's free for any end-user, but when you require Ansible Tower, you need to pay per Ansible Tower server."
"You don't need to buy agents on servers or deploy expense management when using the solution, which affected our decision to go with it."
"The pricing is okay."
"I am using the community edition of the solution which is free."
"It is an open-source or free version solution. It also has a paid version, but we have used the open-source version for now."
"Spring Cloud is an open-source solution."
"Currently, we are not required to pay for licenses."
