Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This tool is very useful; when I do my analysis there, the AI tool helps me a lot to understand the data and what I need to do."
"We are satisfied with the technical support from SAP because when we reached out, we were able to get very good support from SAP colleagues."
"For persons who are planning to shift to SAP Business Data Cloud, I have spoken to some customers and clients, and they are happy with SAP Business Data Cloud."
"SAP Analytics can be used as an all-in-one source; it can bring everything together: BI, predictive, planning, simulation — it can combine all of this into a single user interface."
"One feature I've found most valuable is Discovery, a logistics tool that will place the dashboard for you on the fly and, for example, if you select a country, it will give the entire picture of where a product is high and where it is low."
"What my customers like best about SAP Analytics Cloud is the dashboard because it's pretty good."
"SAP Business Data Cloud has positively impacted my organization by improving decision-making through real-time insights into what is changing in the business."
"The integration aspects between SAP and SAP Business Data Cloud are pretty good and seamless, with multiple ways to take the data that all work seamlessly, and taking data out to Azure Data Lake using premium outbound as a service and replication flows in Data Sphere is really seamless."
"It is a central source of up-to-date data and information."
"It is able to create information dashboards for various users' throughout."
"It reduces time to reproduce reports, provides easy access to organisational data, and has the ability to generate a wide range of reports and analysis."
"Yellowfin doesn’t try to do everything – it is a BI presentation and communication tool, and it does it brilliantly."

Cons

"Though it's the best placed product when working with an SAP BW backend, it still lacks a lot of functionalities when compared to other tools such as Power BI or Tableau."
"There are dimension restrictions. The scope is limited to only five to six accounts."
"Some algorithms are complex and can't be processed by just tagging the data and expecting results."
"In general Power BI seems to be more professional and user-friendly, it's certainly easier to find data."
"On the pricing point, I would say it is quite high compared to other solutions that are available in the market."
"There is plenty of room for improvement. They have different products, and you need to integrate all of them to have one functionality. For example, data extraction happens in Datasphere. Then it would be best if you had some connection between the Datasphere and the SAP Analytics Cloud to get the data, as this is causing headaches sometimes. The knowledge base and Jedox also could be more meaningful. I have tried to search for some specific knowledge base and technology base, and I didn't find them. I have learned it by trial and error. There is room to improve the integrations between the different products. The AFS, and the Data action, need improvement. Sometimes they release new tools and updates, but not in my area."
"Performance is a limitation that SAP Business Data Cloud has right now, and until I know more about SAP with the Iceberg adoption, I will say more, but now performance is a limitation using the Delta capability."
"SAC, which is the cloud version, lost some good features from the previous planning product, like BPC or BPS."
"It needs more presentation/charting capabilities and integration with GIS."
"The first release was a bit buggy, but they seem to have gotten on top of that very quickly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It Wasn't directly involved in the pricing discussions, but when I joined the organization, they had already purchased the SAP Analytics Cloud solution. The organization faced challenges due to its perceived expense, leading to restrictions on granting access to many users."
"SAP Analytics can be very costly to license, which can make it difficult for organizations to implement."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is expensive. The price is a big issue if you compare it with other solutions from different vendors."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is a bit higher [in price]. Because, if Microsoft can afford a better product and lower cost, SAP can afford at least the same, or even lower."
"Its price is slightly on the higher side."
"It's quite expensive and costs a lot to maintain, especially with licensing."
"The price is competitive. There is a power user license and normal user license, but the normal user license is reasonable."
"Its pricing is okay as compared to its competitors."
