Automated scheduling has transformed clinical analysis workflows and saves significant time
The best feature of SAS Enterprise Guide is scheduling jobs and flows. The scheduling jobs and flows feature stands out to me because of its ease of use and reliability, as I have to perform so many tasks. By scheduling jobs and code, it makes tasks much easier for me. By using SAS Enterprise Guide, which I currently use after previously using SAS 9.4, the time-saving feature of scheduling jobs and code and performing statistical analysis more advanced along with some low-code features makes our timeline very easy to achieve. In SAS Enterprise Guide, I also use data management and statistical analysis, and the statistical analysis accuracy along with data management, data cleaning, and data performing is very good.

Good management and pricing but not great for enterprise environments
In a high-density location, we're running into connectivity drops. There may be too many rouge devices broadcasting, and the devices is getting interference from another channel. The only to fix this is to reboot and we need something that reboots on the fly. We also need better security for VLANs and VPNs. There are issues with certain Apple devices. Technical support is not very helpful. The initial setup, which seemed straightforward at first, had to be redone. This may not have been the fault of the product. We're not sure what went wrong.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"SAS Enterprise Guide's stability is fantastic."
"SAS EG is a reliable program that consistently performs well when it comes to manipulating large datasets."
"In Daman, I had used the data module, where you can join the table and take whatever data we require for our work. You join tables and create columns as you wish, then analyze data in various ways depending on what the problem is. We used it to detect fraud, abnormalities, anomalies, abnormal trends, etc. It's also good for exporting and importing tables."
"Takes advantage of our Enterprise SAS Grid."
"Statistical functionality and basic database interaction can become very straightforward for business users that don't have a background in SQL and data analysis."
"It is also compatible with other softwares, such as Excel."
"The query builder feature is the most valuable."
"SAS EG offers many excellent features, such as parallel execution on the same server, controlling output datasets in the process flow, and conditional processing."
"It's easy to manage and supports the user, our guests, and our customers if they have a problem."
"The controller makes it easy to control everything from one platform. The management is easy."

Cons

"I do find the online documentation can, at times, be a little difficult to read through and understand and sometimes there aren't a lot of examples to help you understand."
"It's not really user-friendly and it's difficult to configure as well."
"There needs to be a community of SAS Enterprise Guide users for assistance. For example, as they do for Python or SQL."
"It is expensive."
"I feel that the performance could be increased by leveraging multi-thread with any SAS BI platform, not just the high performance ones."
"Our data warehouse is built on the Netezza database. We have SAS BI, and we populate the Netezza database. When we have tables with, for example, a hundred million rows in Netezza, SAS Enterprise Guide doesn't work. It doesn't return any results. It works for around 30 to 40 million rows, but it is not working for anything more than that. This issue is only with the Netezza database. With Oracle, it is quite good. They can improve its performance with the Netezza database. There should be one unique tool that includes SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Enterprise Guide for more integration capabilities. With SAS Enterprise Guide, it is not possible to create connections and libraries and build transformations that can be used for other projects. This tool should have all capabilities that SAS Enterprise Guide does not have. Such a tool would be perfect because it will be used by developers and business users at the same time. In addition to the integration capabilities, they should also provide more deployment capabilities. There should be an option to easily create SAS packages and export them from one environment to another. There could also be a possibility to connect with R and Python. Open-source tools are hot in the market nowadays, and it would be good to extend its capabilities."
"Sentiment analytics would be a great feature to add into EG."
"For some of the advanced functions, you need to learn some SAS code in order to get what you want."
"It's stable, but it depends on the office and location."
"There are issues with certain Apple devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is expensive. We get a different price based on our corporate rate. So, I'm not sure what the general cost is because we got a special rate for it."
"It is very expensive. We have a basic license, and there are many features that are not available with the basic version."
"Management liked it a lot because the license per seat was cheaper than a traditional SAS environment."
"The pricing and associated costs are substantial."
"I did look at the prices a few years ago, and I believe it was approximately $1,000 for a yearly subscription at that time."
"In general, SAS has high prices, which is a reason why some clients don't use SAS solutions. The licensing is on a yearly basis."
"There is no license. The solution is free."
