Have integrated effective monitoring and seamless alerting with improved visualization capabilities
The most valuable feature of SCOM is its monitoring capability, and we have integrated SCOM with Grafana, which is a dashboarding tool. We have implemented and integrated this to create dashboarding of the SCOM monitoring system for the database, SQL, and the Linux servers we have configured in SCOM. We have created separate dashboarding for it, and the monitoring and creating rules and monitors in the management servers and management packs that SCOM provides are very useful for us. The alerting mechanism of SCOM has benefited our operations because we have modified the thresholds as per our internal requirements. We have configured threshold modifications for the CPU, memory, and especially for disk space. For routine disk space usage on the system, we have provided a separate threshold configuration.

Centralized monitoring has improved branch management and simplifies proactive WAN troubleshooting
The best features of Versa Director are centralized device management, SD-WAN policy configuration, real-time WAN and application monitoring, traffic streaming, and centralized troubleshooting, making managing multiple branches much easier from a single platform. The real-time WAN and application monitoring feature helps me monitor WAN link health, latency, packet loss, and application performance, allowing me to quickly identify issues, check which link is affected, and troubleshoot connectivity problems before they impact users on a day-to-day basis. Versa Director has positively impacted my organization by improving centralized management, reducing troubleshooting time, and providing better visibility into WAN and application performance. It has also made managing multiple branch sites more efficient.

Pros

"The fact that I'm able to see all my devices and the status of them has been extremely useful."
"I like some of their newer features, such as maintenance schedules, because SCOM records SLA and SLO time."
"The tool helps to monitor Windows servers. It offers alerts from a central location."
"The product has helped our organization with in-depth monitoring."
"The advantages of SCOM are that it is definitely user friendly and a more appropriate solution for what we need."
"The solution primarily drives system information, and I believe it works fine."
"It discovers the components automatically, which is a fantastic thing."
"SCOM features object-based monitoring based on classes and discoveries and it gives you a lot of power and flexibility when you design and implement monitoring."
"Versa Director has easier customer reports, utilization monitoring, graphic shaping monitoring, configuration, template shaping, and deduplication compared to Fortinet and Cisco."
"Versa Director is a beneficial product for the environment my company has."
"Versa Director has positively impacted my organization by improving centralized management, reducing troubleshooting time, and providing better visibility into WAN and application performance, and it has also made managing multiple branch sites more efficient."
"Versa Director's best feature is the ease of configuration and customer and vendor management."
"The most valuable feature of Versa Director is analytics."
"I think the most valuable functionality is some of the policy pieces that are quite useful."
"Versa Director is the fastest engineering tool and is ideal for use without product management."

Cons

"The dashboard features are not user-friendly for our management team, only for the technical department."
"I would like to see better support for monitoring Unix-based systems."
"Unfortunately, when you need to monitor member servers which are not joined to the same domain as the SCOM servers, you need to go through the certificate route (so that you can have the required trust through the certificate). This is very time consuming and very prone to error."
"GUI performance is the one aspect where I can see that improvement on it will make customers happy."
"Stability and some performance issues exist and they need improvement."
"There are some negative points about this product. Sometimes, the capabilities of the software don't appear, and you can't directly see the results. You have to wait for a long period to refresh the policy to push it to the software or other patches."
"My advice to people who are looking for a solution like SCOM would actually be to advise them to move from licensed software to open-source."
"Application monitoring must be improved."
"What needs improvement in Versa Director is maturity because, from an operating point of view, it's not mature enough. You'll still need to do a lot of research on Versa Director, so if it could mature faster, that would be very good."
"Versa could be more AI-oriented."
"I think the one area that could be improved is that there are a lot of features; that is also an advantage but it makes things a little difficult, so I'd like to see some simplification so that there is less bloat."
"Versa Director's deployment process is not the best."
"Overall, the features of Versa Director are very useful, but I would appreciate more advanced troubleshooting and reporting capabilities to enhance issue analysis and make it even faster."
"Versa Director's on-prem SD-WAN hardware and SSL VPN software are not integrated, so you have to buy a separate subscription for the SSL VPN."
"It requires some simplification."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing and licensing are fair."
"I don't know the exact cost because it's managed by our sales team, but Microsoft is on the higher side."
"The platform is cost-effective due to our existing Microsoft support."
"Our licensing fees are approximately $30 per user, per month."
"It is the cheapest product available in the market."
"If you have a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, then this is part of the agreement."
"SCOM is very cheap because it's included in the license for the System Center suite, which is around $8,400 per CAL."
"SCOM's pricing is average."
"Having to buy separate licenses for the on-prem SD-WAN hardware and SSL VPN software makes Versa Director very costly compared to other solutions like Fortinet and Cisco."
