A comprehensive and well-built solution for disaster recovery and backup
We use SEP sesam for disaster recovery and backup.  We need a solution to handle on-premise and cloud backup, particularly the Microsoft 0ffice365 server.  SEP sesam needs to work on stability.  I have been using the solution for a year.  We have not encountered any downtime while using the…

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We need a solution to handle on-premise and cloud backup, particularly the Microsoft 0ffice365 server."
"We managed to restore all of the VMs from Veeam and disaster recovery was executed as expected within our SLA."
"I am a specialist in Veeam, and my clients optimized their recovery procedure, and it now requires less time to restore services."
"Veeam is the gold standard for backup and recovery. The ease of use and reliability of this solution are real assets. Also, it has an ease of use to work with a third party vendor."
"Veeam ONE is a straightforward solution and compatible with almost all hardware."
"Veeam ONE effectively centralizes the view of different tools."
"The interface is very user-friendly."
"It automated backup to the point of almost no involvement needed and our backups can be checked, tested and verified at any time in accordance with our policies."
"They've gone ahead and improved 90% of the tool."

Cons

"SEP sesam needs to work on stability."
"They have an integration with MS SQL, and you have to license MS SQL. This is something they need to change. They should go for an open-source database or a free SQL because you're already buying this product, and you shouldn't have to buy another product."
"It would be better if the solution presented the number of servers and the success rate on the dashboard."
"The essentials bundle is great value for money if you have storage from NetApp or HP, but you really have to make sure you will not reach the limits in the near future."
"The backup of the device could be improved and it's also quite an expensive solution, more expensive than Acronis."
"Veeam Data Platform needs to improve data backup for Oracle admin. It needs to improve its stability."
"It's sometimes difficult identifying the resources for backup and I think that could be improved."
"In the future, Veeam should release a hardware backup appliance that can be integrated with their software."
"The more features the solution has the more complex it can be to set up. Veeam Backup & Replication can be complex."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"SEP sesam offers a perpetual licensing option, which means you don't have to renew your license at a new price every time. I rate the solution's pricing a six and a half out of ten."
"This solution requires a license and the organizations I was involved in were using an enterprise license."
"It is not expensive and I would rate it five out of ten."
"The price of Veeam Backup & Replication is reasonable compared to IBM."
"The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill."
"The solution is expensive, but it's value for money."
"The pricing and licensing is better than the competitors, but it could be better."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable. It is not inexpensive nor is it expensive, it is in the middle range compared to other solutions. There can be additional costs for addons."
"It is highly cost-effective when compared to other solutions."

VMware SRM vs. Veeam vs. Zerto
Disaster recovery planning is something that seems challenging for all businesses. Virtualization in addition to its operational flexibility, and cost reduction benefits, has helped companies improve their DR posture. Virtualization has made it easier to move machines from production to…
