Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

A fairly stable solution that’s highly mature, but has a poor user interface
The solution does not align as modern service solutions do. Seamless integration is no available among the processes. Their service management application needs a lot of work. It’s in a really bad state right now. They brought on a new interface that clumped all the processes and features of the solution into one. Still, it’s not really compatible with other solutions. Because of this, its rating has dropped in Gardner. The solution needs to improve its reporting features. The user interface needs a lot of improvements. The product needs to implement a cloud platform solution, which is lacking so far. Their workflow engine is still segregated. It’s not embedded. If you need to do some workflow approvals, you cannot do them directly on the service desk. You have to go into Outlook and do an approval or you have to go in through another screen to handle the approval because the workflow engine they have is a separate product.

Manager at a computer software company with 501-1,000 employees
Stable, easy to install, and cost effective, but it needs better integration and data management
It needs better integration with other tools like Jira. Better reporting and better data management are also needed. I believe the way they're structured is the flat file. So it'd be better if they actually used a database for the data storage, and a more robust portal. I would like more flexible reporting.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Automation Anywhere has surely helped our organization to shape its Digital Journey - It was our first RPA tool which helped us to perform basic automation which created Point solutions but has added tremendous value at the early stage. We were able to scale-up fast using Automation Anywhere due to its user-friendly AI and later on IQ Bots provided the required edge to handle the unstructured data."
"It is an easy product. It is easier and less complex than any other RPA tool in the market. It is a popular product."
"The ease of access and deployment are the most valuable features."
"There are a lot of savings in terms of effort and time as well as costs."
"Object Cloning is the most valuable feature I have found for automating a website or a process that includes multiple mouse clicks."
"The integrations with the OCR engines in Automation Anywhere are quite powerful, and they have helped us in many projects."
"We have benefitted a lot now, but expect that we will benefit even more in the future as we get better at using intelligence."
"The feature I appreciate the most about Automation Anywhere is the interface."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to easily create service catalogues for our customers, something that we didn't have previously with the other tool we were using, which was SDM."
"Improved the effectiveness of my Service Desk Team and improved the SLA timing."
"The solution is a highly mature product, and because of this, it can stand up to any other product on the market."
"The ability to add Additional Information Screens on the fly."
"CA Technologies support is excellent."
"The support is pretty good, the follow up is great; it is 24 hours, so that’s been useful, and it has a good escalation path, which is essential."
"The most valuable features for me are scalable architecture, customization potential where the UI, background, and data movement allow you to tailor to the nitty gritty details of what you might need in your environment, and advanced workflow management."
"It’s provided self-service and automation, notifications, and reporting, and it’s good on a day-to-day and macro perspective."
"Absolutely, we have seen a return on our investment."
"The two most valuable features are the portal and reporting."
"It is more flexible than our current solution."

Cons

"It is not able to use OCR effectively and has limited usability."
"For me at the very beginning when I started working with that, the technical setup was extremely complicated and extremely problematic, and we spent half a year to really make the software work."
"The regional distribution in Turkey can be improved."
"I would like better support. The technical support is mediocre. The support is sometimes really good, and sometimes it is really bad."
"I have seen that the South American support is not as good as it should be."
"Right now, we are using a VM with Automation Anywhere installed inside it, but it would be nice if the solution could be used on macOS."
"Automation Anywhere courses are a little bit complex to understand. You need a little bit more time, and accessibility is also a little bit of an issue."
"Automation Anywhere can be improved by integrating self-correction capabilities into the bots, particularly as we develop RPA, where changes in environment paths require additional redeveloping efforts."
"Few probes need improvement in their function and the way they get deployed for monitoring."
"The deployment was very difficult to handle. It's an unnecessarily difficult process that requires third-party assistance to do correctly."
"It loses points because it’s not GUI enough, too code-y."
"The solution needs to improve its reporting features. The user interface needs a lot of improvements."
"I would love to see better two-factor authentication as that would really help us and make a big difference."
"This is not appropriate for a small or even a medium-sized business. Too much overhead for a small company."
"Their service management application needs a lot of work."
"We have been seeing a little bit of latency here and there, but we haven't been able to identify it."
"It's a very cost-effective solution, but it's not robust."
"It needs better integration with other tools like Jira."
"Yes. Major system issues and outages during our implementation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Price is where I'm least satisfied. Other vendors are more willing to offer discounts."
"I am not sure about the costs, but two Bot Runners and four Bot Creators may cost approximately 1CR."
"As our team size increases, we may get some more licenses for the tool."
"We have seen a return of investment because it takes less time to market in our current process. I would estimate a times savings between 20 to 30 percent."
"The enterprise version is expensive for small businesses and individual users."
"I would like them to have better license management."
"It looks like it will be right around $115,000, not counting IQ Bot, which we won't renew until later."
"The price is a little bit high but the support is good."
Information not available
"The price is approximately $70 per agent, per month."
