We have reached maximum capacity in our tier, and extending capacity has not been cost-effective from Splunk's perspective.
I did not find any Docker solution available with it, and a separate instance has to be installed.
We have tried it with a maximum of 500 concurrent users, and it provided all the required information.

Room For Improvement

The Splunk AppDynamics UI is complex, lacking mobile support and integration ease, with network visibility and documentation issues.
Splunk ITSI needs better integration, user interface, predictive analytics, machine learning, real-time alerting, automated response, and user support.
Splunk AppDynamics does not support the complete MELT framework, which includes metrics, events, logging, and tracing for the entire stack.
If AppDynamics could develop a means to monitor without an agent, it could significantly improve application performance and reduce potential problems.
It is lacking some documentation, which is why we are always with the AppDynamics team for support to get the details.

Setup Cost

AppDynamics is costly but valuable, requiring careful assessment and negotiation for better pricing compared to alternatives like Dynatrace or Datadog.
Splunk ITSI is a costly but comprehensive tool, valued for its observability despite complex licensing and high pricing.
Customers have to pay a premium price, however, they receive considerable value from the product.
We find its pricing reasonable and competitive.
All these solutions at the moment are cheap, but it is like paying for insurance; you pay insurance to avoid major damage.

Splunk AppDynamics users appreciate its easy interface and features for performance monitoring, real-time alerts, and detailed diagnostics.
Splunk IT Service Intelligence enhances incident management with agile data handling, advanced analytics, and effective troubleshooting features for quick issue resolution.
What I like the most about Splunk AppDynamics is the end-to-end observability for the application, along with traces.
I work with the AI-powered anomaly detection and root cause analysis for troubleshooting. Users can see the error and the message with the error on the dashboard, and they can see exactly what error they are encountering.
The feature that I appreciate in AppDynamics Browser Real-User Monitoring is the intuitive and user-friendly dynamic mapping it creates for workflows.

The transition tracing and user experience are good, but performance degrades past 3,000 or so agents
The Kubernetes cluster agent has not yet matured. That's one area that requires a lot of improvement. You have two options for implementing the Kubernetes agent. One is deployed in DocCloud, but you can't download those images from DocCloud for security reasons at most organizations, so this option isn't that useful. The installation for the second option isn't that user-friendly. Transition tracing for the Kubernetes application is challenging. You have to navigate to a new set of user interfaces in AppDynamics, so that's the pain point. There is an icon you need to click on to get a newer user interface.

Provides great end-to-end visibility into our network environment and helped us reduce alert noise
Our organization was looking for a security monitoring tool. I use Splunk ITSI as a monitoring and security tool. It helps me to protect data and prevent malware and hackers from accessing my environment. Splunk ITSI can be used to protect our role and infrastructure. It can also provide insights into how and what is helpful within our infrastructure. Splunk ITSI provides great end-to-end visibility into our network environment. It can identify the exact root cause of an issue without any additional troubleshooting on my part. Predictive analytics is valuable for preventing incidents before they occur because it allows me to see when the data stopped being indexed, which saves me time from having to investigate. Splunk ITSI makes it easier to secure our entire infrastructure. Before Splunk ITSI, our environment was chaotic. Splunk ITSI streamlines our incident management by providing a financial report of all applications in our environment. Splunk ITSI has helped us reduce alert noise. After configuring ITSI, we set certain parameters based on our alerts. These alerts are the conditions that ITSI uses to automatically reduce noise. Splunk ITSI helps to reduce our mean time to detect by monitoring key performance indicators such as CPU overload and the percentage of use revenue trend. On average the automation has reduced our mean time to detect by five minutes. Splunk ITSI significantly reduces our mean time to resolve because most of our time was previously spent troubleshooting. With ITSI, we don't have to troubleshoot at all. Splunk ITSI can help reduce downtime, but the extent of its effectiveness depends on how it is implemented.
