Effective product tracking and monitoring enhances daily operations despite needing documentation improvement
The documentation part of Workspace ONE UEM can be confusing. The documentation is not comprehensive compared to other VMware solutions or Microsoft documentation. Most people struggle to connect the dots when looking at the documentation. Even the training material and PowerPoint slide decks that trainers use are sometimes too confusing or overwhelming, with too much content but not enough clarity. The support side has recently become weaker compared to what it used to be with VMware. This is another area that needs improvement. Since working with Workspace ONE UEM from when it was AirWatch, it has improved significantly over the last five years. However, there are still some gray areas and scope for improvement, especially in documentation and workflow between different aspects of the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has enabled us to package and deploy enterprise mobile apps."
"In my previous implementation, we rolled out device management and security policies for 5000+ devices in a week's time."
"I would recommend this product for small and large scale projects to achieve greater results."
"Afaria provides us with much greater control over this essential function, which is important from both a workflow and business perspective."
"It helped our organization in securing our enterprise data on mobile devices."
"SAP Support is excellent with their support of this product."
"The most valuable feature is that it supports all mobile platforms -- Android, iOS, etc."
"After installation of the product, it is very easy to use; it's user friendly and the operation and performance is very high."
"We decided to go with it and stick with it; it served the purpose in my previous organization and is also serving the purpose in this organization."
"We can impose cybersecurity requirements."
"Sometimes, we face an issue and raise a ticket. The technical support team is fantastic and resolves the issue."
"When we publish the applications, getting the credentials to log in and keep the application up or running is easy."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it enables us to remotely manage the devices, which is its purpose, and to push applications to the mobile devices from the portal."
"Basically, the data containerization and the ability to publish and consistently push apps is the most valuable aspect of the product."
"For me, the integration of AirWatch with various enterprise components is something I like. The way they are partnering with various services, like security services, or some of the big guys like Google, Android, Apple, and including Microsoft; that's really awesome. And the way they look at providing functionality to create self-service and automation, that's really usefully and beneficial. That's where I see they differentiate themselves."
"Workspace ONE adds a lot of value compared to Microsoft because Microsoft is a late entry into the market, and they're still developing their product from an end-user perspective. Workspace ONE has a slight edge because of AirWatch. VMware has developed its product over a longer period of time, so they have better integrations as a whole solution."

Cons

"There were issues with Afaria not having as many features as MobileIron or AirWatch."
"Parity of features/config settings across mobile platforms can be improved in the next release."
"Customer service is poor. Technical support is poor."
"It should be one shot! But in the current state, you have to set-up at least five components, and if you have more than one server (we have one master plus four slaves and two relay servers) it means about 25 installations (about 100 next, OK, finish, cancel)."
"It needs compatibility with multiple platforms and databases."
"SCEP-based authentication deployment for Android devices has great flaws."
"Improvement is required in term of nesting the groups and objects, we have faced difficulties in applying correct rules/policies."
"The installation is very complex and the price is very high compared to other MDM's."
"I'd like to see more integration capabilities in future releases."
"It hasn’t always been good, but getting better."
"Pricing is the only challenge right now. The licensing fee should be simplified a little bit. They have kept too many products as add ons. These need to be bundled with the low-cost, standard version. This will help customers in adopting this technology at a faster pace."
"The portal is not user-friendly."
"For the purpose that this solution is designed for it works great, but it doesn't compare well with other solutions."
"It's not accurate enough when it comes to sending items to end-users."
"it's very dependent on an active directory"
"The security features could always use improvement, although there has already been a huge improvement from years ago."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution can be costly when the customer is dealing with multiple platforms. If a customer is only dealing with iOS, Windows, and Android then Intune is the better choice because there are free licenses."
"The solution is more expensive than Intune."
"Workspace ONE is on the higher end of the pricing band when compared to other players in the market."
"We pay approximately $6.50 per user for the standard version. If you are paying for an enterprise license that includes VDI then it will cost approximately $25 per user on a monthly basis."
"The tool is expensive."
"For big users, it's around $500."
"If you purchase it for one year, it is very expensive. If you get it for three years or up to five years, then you can bargain a better price."
"For the moment, we have a multi-year contract, meaning that we cannot go with a different solution at this time even if the price should prove more favorable."
