Review summaries and opinions

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

ROI

Sentiment score
4.5
Organizations benefit from Workato's easy integration, automating tasks for efficiency and cost savings, despite some lacking quantified ROI results.
Sentiment score
6.1
Users experience benefits from Zapier's automation and cost savings, though calculating specific ROI can be challenging.
By replacing multiple legacy systems and teams with a single automated platform, organizations see significant cost savings and improved business operations.
For main recipes, there are charges, so by focusing on creating as many callable recipes as possible based on requirements, we can improve cost efficiency for the business.
In my experience, we have seen a return on investment, with results visible within a week.
In a scenario where employing three resources for three months might cost approximately $18,000 to $20,000, Zapier provides substantial cost savings.

Customer Service

Sentiment score
6.1
Workato's customer service is praised for responsiveness and effectiveness, though users suggest more 24/7 support options.
Sentiment score
7.0
Mixed experiences with Zapier support: praised for responsiveness and knowledge, yet some note delays and lack of chat.
Whenever we faced issues with data volume, the support team helped us by suggesting solutions like breaking the data into chunks.
I reach out to the professional services team or customer success team for technical support, and they provide immediate responses.
Workato's support is robust, featuring first and second-level support.
Their technical support is good; they respond promptly and are very helpful.
This can help if you need assistance, as you can communicate with the community and support system, and most issues are already resolved by AI.
Sometimes, in my early days, when I was stuck with something, they helped me solve these issues, and even helped me solve some of my automations.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
5.9
Workato effectively scales cloud operations, supports multi-region use, but faces challenges with high data volumes and transaction spikes.
Sentiment score
7.4
Zapier is ideal for small businesses prioritizing simple tasks, though costs and stability may concern larger organizations.
There are scalability limitations with Workato.
Allows dynamic connection switching at runtime.
Even when clients overutilize the product, Workato allows them to continue without interruption, charging accordingly rather than limiting usage.
Zapier is suitable for small or simpler automation but not for complex ones.
Scaling it gets quite expensive, and while I cannot evaluate it purely from a technology perspective, compared to Workato, I would give Zapier a seven for scalability.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
6.5
Workato is deemed reliable and stable, though some issues arise with high-volume data loads and deployments.
Sentiment score
6.7
Users find Zapier reliable, with minor issues often linked to third-party tools, and rate stability highly for varied needs.
Once deployed, solutions do not break, making it more reliable than other solutions like Microsoft Power Automate that often disconnect.
During the initial data loads with large volumes, Workato was unable to handle the data effectively, which indicates stability issues under high loads.
To handle more than 50,000 records, I use scripting actions like Python or JavaScript to process large data in chunks.
In my current company, we had significant challenges with Zapier regarding maintenance, as Zaps were often broken, not necessarily due to Zapier, but due to changes in the input variables.

Room For Improvement

Workato needs improved customization, debugging, API management, scalability, clear pricing, deployment options, data handling, CI/CD, and complex automation features.
Zapier users face issues with Google Sheets, insufficient integrations, complex workflows, high costs, and limited customization and support.
Workato struggles with scalability when handling high volumes of data, such as terabytes, requiring chunking for initial data loads.
One area for improvement is the CI/CD pipeline, which lacks a version control system similar to GitHub for easier deployment.
Currently, there's no way to set breakpoints to stop the process and debug an error as you can in other tools like webMethods.
The error message options in the dashboard should be improved. It should be user-friendly so that beginners or non-technical users can figure out the problems and solutions on their own.
You can build similar or dependent automations in one Zap, which helps with understanding the process without switching between different records.
I would appreciate if there would be a feature where we can use actions right after loops. Currently, you cannot use any other action after the loop. Everything needs to be within the loop.

Setup Cost

Workato offers a competitive, usage-dependent pricing model that is cost-effective for integration compared to other iPaaS solutions.
Enterprise buyers find Zapier cost-effective for its integrations, despite some viewing it as pricier than alternatives.
Higher volume is less expensive, but in general, it is kind of pricey.
While the upfront cost is high due to task-based pricing, the cost is relatively low in terms of development because Workato provides necessary connectors for integration use cases.
Compared to other iPaaS solutions like Boomi, Workato’s pricing model charges per connection step, which increases the cost.
The pricing is in accordance with market standards and even lower in some cases.
The pricing of Zapier is slightly higher compared to other market automation tools such as Pabbly, Make.com, and N8N, which have good features but are priced lower than Zapier.

Valuable Features

Workato offers a user-friendly, no-code platform with powerful automation, pre-built connectors, and efficient cloud-based integration for rapid deployment.
Zapier offers over 20,000 integrations, automating workflows without coding, enhancing productivity with user-friendly, drag-and-drop functionality.
It allows app-to-app and real-time integrations, which significantly enhance process efficiency.
It comes with pre-built connectors, eliminating the need to write APIs.
The platform's ease of use for connecting to different integrations, like Salesforce and NetSuite, is very beneficial because development isn't necessary, and everything is readily available.
They have approximately 7,000 connections.
Even a person with no technical knowledge can use Zapier to create automations.
The automation capabilities are impressive.

Integration support simplifies automation and reduces errors without existing frustrations
In Workato, I can see everything that goes behind the process. You can see how everything works, how the tool works in the background. If something goes bad and an error appears, I can see why it happened. The best features Workato offers, in my opinion, are the easy integration with many different types of tools. The Workato interface is so easy to use. Workato has impacted my organization positively by reducing errors, which is one of the most important improvements I can see, and one great thing is that in Workato I can do many things that the main BPA platform we use does not do. Error reduction has helped our team in Workato as we can see more details about the most common errors and what makes everything go bad. With this specific data, we can develop a new and better solution. Workato helped us to do this. We can see more details about the errors and solve them. Workato has improved a lot of my work because there I can develop many flows easier and faster. At this moment, I do not have anything that frustrates me.

Automation of simple tasks improves with user-friendly interface but needs enhancement in handling complex scenarios
In my opinion, what could be improved in Zapier is its UI, which operates as a one-line system. Compared to Make.com and other tools that have a drag-and-drop system, this is lacking. If the scenario or automation is complex, it becomes difficult to create and deploy because of various routes. For example, with 20 routes, it becomes really difficult to create them due to certain limits, and the UI is not conducive for viewing all the routes.
