I work with Dell PowerProtect Data Manager and Data Domain, which are backup software solutions.

The features I appreciate about Dell PowerProtect Data Manager include the snapshot killer, which is a very good feature, and the ability to access the hypervisor directly to take backups from VMs. I find it most beneficial because of the ease and power of the core backup software. Dell created the backup software from scratch, so they incorporated the most powerful features found in other backup software in the field.

Dell PowerProtect Data Manager should add support for Hyper-V and Nutanix VMs, as well as Kubernetes. Additionally, they should support tape library backup capabilities.

I have been working with Dell PowerProtect Data Manager for almost one year.

Dell PowerProtect Data Manager is very stable.

It is scalable.

I have no experience with technical support from Dell because I have not deployed it before.

I have worked with Veeam, Veritas, and Commvault. All of them are great backup software.

I think the license for Dell PowerProtect Data Manager is the same as other backup software.

I work with a company called Global Brands, and one of their companies is called Direct, which is a Platinum Partner to Dell. I do not have any specific examples to share at the moment. I have hands-on experience on a demo website and I purchase through Dell. I give this product a review rating of 8 because it is a very good backup solution.

For virtual environments using VMware, when customers want to purchase a separate recovery solution from Dell, I recommend Dell PowerProtect Data Manager as the backup software.

We use the solution to back up and protect the data for telecom customers.

The solution's most valuable feature is providing the latest technology platform for container data protection.

They should include a feature similar to S3 bucket. Presently, PPDM offers integration with data domain and power protection appliances. At times, customers demand a simple bucket instead of multiple integrations. In that case, we have to suggest other vendors like ECS to them. 

We have been using the solution for more than a year.

It is a stable solution. I rate its stability as an eight.

Our customers are enterprise businesses. For customers with a perpetual license, the licensing requirements grow every time the data size grows. In this case, we can renew the license as per the maintenance and support contract. Thus, the solution's scalability works fine; I rate it as a seven out of ten.

The solution's tech support team responds depending on the criticality of the problem. For a very critical issue, support is available 24/7.

The solution's initial setup is straightforward. I rate the process as an eight. The deployment takes six to eight weeks to complete it. During the process, we have to deal with the approved backup policy whenever it's a cutover between the previous and new solutions. While migrating for storage technologies, the customers decide how many years of data they want to retain. The last solution stays on that, and the current solution takes the new policy and the backup retention.

The deployment of the solution requires a team of two to five people. The team includes L1 and L2 engineers and one design specialist.

The solution is affordable as compared to other vendors in the market. I rate its pricing as a six.

The solution needs two or three desk operators for maintenance at regular intervals. I advise others to make their buying decision based on the use cases. They should understand the technology. Also, they should learn ways to improve their resources by adopting new technology such as PPDM.

I rate the solution as an eight.

I'm using Dell PowerProtect Data Manager to manage cloud-native applications, such as those running on OpenShift or other container orchestration platforms. PPDM ensures data stability within container nodes and ports, including persistent volumes. It offers features similar to Valero, facilitating backups for Kubernetes environments. Additionally, PPDM supports virtualization platforms.

One notable feature is its robust backup support for Kubernetes and container environments. Additionally, PPDM stands out for its ease of deployment and management compared to other backup solutions. It is highly user-friendly, allowing users to quickly learn and implement backup and restore processes within a week. PPDM represents the next generation of backup software and is comparable to offerings from other vendors. Furthermore, PPDM prioritizes security with various access controls, such as user and database access controls. Its deployment tool is also known for its simplicity.

PPDM requires further development. It is primarily integrated with DevOps systems. However, given the rapid growth and introduction of various technologies in the marketplace, PPDM needs to expand its compatibility and integration with a broader range of technologies. While it can handle backups with technologies like Elasticsearch, there may be a need for better integration with standard DevOps tools for smoother backup processes.

I've been using Dell PowerProtect Data Manager for a few years.

The solution's stability is good. I rate the stability a ten out of ten.

There is no restriction to scale it. It's very easy because GPDM only supports it for virtualization platforms.

The initial setup is straightforward. You can install PPDM in one day. The deployment process depends on your cloud provider. You'll start by accessing their site. You'll need a bundled setup file to initiate deployment. You can deploy this on vCenter, where it will access your files from either your local computer or your data store. This process usually takes around one to four hours to implement and configure the platform. Once deployed, you only need to define your network and some hosted datastore configurations.

PPDM is very helpful in providing numerous high-quality services for the entire platform. It's crucial to use PPDM for all components and hypervisor systems.

The pricing is very competitive. Additionally, it's pretty feasible to acquire the DTS platform.

The licensing for Dell PowerProtect Data Manager depends on your specific environment. You can obtain pricing based on your front desk capacity or the socket license. For instance, if you have multiple products requiring backup or are running five hosts on the hypervisor platform, two licensing options are available. Each option aims to be more cost-efficient for the customer, and the decision is made in collaboration with Dell. 

I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten, where ten is the highest and one is the lowest.

We are using PPDM to manage our banking customers' data. Additionally, we leverage our private financial cloud infrastructure. PPDM is compatible with and meets the regulations set by banking supervisors and government systems.

Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Our company's backup team uses the solution for backups and data recovery. We plan to increase usage in the future. 

The solution is adequate for data storage. 

Management is difficult and it is hard to determine when things aren't working properly.

The solution is not as intuitive as other products so it requires a certain expertise to keep things up and running.

It is important to understand your company's priorities and adjust your backup needs accordingly. 

I rate the solution a three out of ten. 

The tool is meant for everyone because we get a very flexible system, so we can use the tool at an enterprise level.

I recommend the tool to bigger companies because of the pricing factor and the knowledge you have to acquire after the installation phase.

The most valuable feature of the solution is its integrated approach.

The tool's scalability has certain shortcomings, making it an area where improvements are required.

The market and technology-driven factors will let the market know of any requirements of the users, based on which the product can add new features.

I have experience using Dell PowerProtect Data Manager. I recommend the tool to my company's customers.

It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a six or seven out of ten.

I have not worked with products similar to Dell PowerProtect Data Manager.

If you do not have experience, the product's implementation phase will be a bit complex, but I cannot be sure about it since I operate at a low level, and that is what I feel from my perspective. Sometimes, I meet people, including IT professionals, who have limited knowledge that I built for them. It could not be that easy.

I recommend the tool to others because it is one of the solutions that can be integrated well. It's very easy to integrate the tool with other Dell products, so it works well in an ecosystem.

The tool is easy to integrate with other products and third-party solutions.

When it comes to data management tasks, it is one solution you can use to cover a few other areas. It is better to have one interface rather than a few of them.

I don't see that non-technical people can use this because, you know, at some point, you have to have some knowledge about the server. Non-technical needs to know that it is a tool that is a server-oriented solution. We talk about Dell PowerProtect Data Manager as a kind of service.

I rate the tool a seven out of ten.

We use it for virtual environments and those using boutique managed products.

It's the perfect solution for virtual and container directives.

The data reduction feature works well, and we haven't had any issues.

You need to use additional software to back up entire environments. It will be good if they could support entire tape libraries.

If the duplication feature is added to Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, it will be very useful for virtual environments.

We have been working with this solution for about two to three years. It's a cloud solution.

It's a stable product.

It is a scalable solution.

From my perspective as a vendor, the technical support has been fine.

The initial setup is straightforward and takes 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

For the deployment and maintenance, one person is enough.

We offer monthly or yearly subscriptions. The price could be cheaper.

I recommend Dell PowerProtect Data Manager to a lot of customers and would give a rating of eight out of ten.

We are using Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager to back up our customer's VMware environmental data domain.

Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager is a good cost-effective tool to back up your infrastructure and restore the data when needed. We can also integrate it with the cloud.

Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager is user-friendly and easy to use. it does what it needs to do.

The Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager reports could improve. There should be different kinds of reports on failures, such as dashboards that we can submit to top management or auditors.

I have been using Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager for approximately three years.

I have found the solution to be stable.

The technical support is okay but they can work on the response time. The last time we had an issue it took a while to receive the proper support.

We have a team of engineers that did the implementation of the solution. We did not need to involve the engineers of Dell.

The price of Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager is reasonable.

I rate Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager an eight out of ten.

Our primary use case for this solution is for backup and deduplication. 

The deduplication is the most valuable feature because it helps to control the overhead. 

There is always room for improvement. The compression ratio should be improved as well as the efficiency.

I have been using PowerProtect for about two years. 

It's a good tool. We don't have any major problems with it. It has good documentation to figure out how to run it. 

It is easy to scale within the scope of the applications we have. 

We haven't needed to contacted customer support because there is good documentation online. 

As long as there is support for how to use it, nothing is complex. The time it takes to deploy depends on the environment and who handles it. The average time it takes to deploy is around a day. 

I would rate it an eight out of ten. I would recommend it. There is nothing that needs improvement at the moment. So far all of the features have been good.
