We have to use Fortinet for the data center. We filter all the entries and all the requests towards servers in the data center, so we've set up Fortinet to receive all the requests and check them before sending them to the servers.

The fact that Fortinet FortiGate IPS can prevent and log malicious intrusions, tries, and attempts is great. We can replace them and check the logs to see what happened.

The speed of the detection could be improved. The prevention mechanisms and implementation are not easy and could be better. In addition, filtering and IDS could be added.

We have used this solution at my organization for over ten years. The biggest version we have is the 500E. But we have 60E and a lot of mid-range SMB firewalls, including DC ones using 500E. It is deployed on-premises.

We have no issues with stability.

It is scalable. 

We escalated a lot of technical issues during the deployment. I rate the technical support a seven out of ten.

We completed the deployment by ourselves, and it took a lot of time to deal with the main data centres. The deployment took us more than nine months. We have 100 people using Fortinet FortiGate IPS in our organization, and our clients have more than 5000 users. It does not require a lot of maintenance.

We went with Fortinet FortiGate IPS because they're the best according to Gartner.

I rate this solution an eight out of ten. Regarding advice, prepare and ensure that the Fortinet product you choose is suitable for your situation and use case.

It's a great solution for security and a big solution when you consider the functionality and skills. It also has IPS and Secure Web Gateway embedded and we can spawn a lot of solutions in the same box because we use the on-premises version.

I prefer FortiGate because it has a lot of other solutions embedded within it and is the easiest for our technicians to operate. It also has strong security factors, and it comes with SD-WAN.

The price of the solution could be cheaper. 

I have been using this solution for about six years.

The solution is very stable. 

I think it is easily scalable. Our company has about 100 employees and 50% of them are technicians that work with this solution.

I'm located in Brazil and we have technical support available in Portuguese, which is our native language, so I think that the support is a good service.

It was easy to set up this solution. 

FortiGuard keeps the IPS up-to-date for new threats, so my main advice is to keep your license up-to-date because if you forget to update your license, the protection will not be very effective.

My advice to others is for them to research the installation mode to see if it will be transparent or not.

FortiGate is a firewall. It protects from viruses, malware, and other threats. We deploy it along with other Fortinet solutions, including the next-generation firewall, FortiClient, and FortiProxy.

FortiGate protects and secures our clients' networks. The security is solid, and it performs well. I think they use some artificial intelligence, so I think it's excellent equipment.

The graphical interface could be improved.

We've been a Fortinet partner for 15 years, and we're the sole distributor of Fortinet and other brands in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. 

FortiGate is stable.

Setting up FortiGate is straightforward and requires two engineers.

FortiGate's price is reasonable for this type of solution. It's competitive with other products. 

I rate FortiGate IPS nine out of 10. I like it, we have experience deploying Fortinet products. We know this product well and can explain how it works. They trust in us. FortiGate is a good appliance, and I recommend it.

Fortinet FortiGate IPS is a firewall that can be deployed on-premise, as an appliance, or you can be deployed on the private cloud as a VM or public clouds such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS. 

One use case is where traffic is coming in, and it is scanned because all traffic is untrusted, even within the network. You want to scan the traffic within your network. Most of the use-cases are internal networks and external networks.

The most useful features of Fortinet FortiGate IPS are you can create a virtual firewall within it, most other firewalls do not have this feature. You are able to manage your network and have network segmentation within your firewall. Additionally, you can create virtual switches within the firewall and have policy management, such as firewall and access policy.

Fortinet FortiGate IPS could improve the configuration. In some use cases, there can be some configuration conflicts.

I have found  Fortinet FortiGate IPS to be scalable.

The initial setup of Fortinet FortiGate IPS was not completely easy, it is in the medium range of difficulty.

I would rate the initial setup of Fortinet FortiGate IPS a seven out of ten.

The licensing policies need to be fixed because if our license expires for Fortinet FortiGate IPS then all the functionality and internet do not work. However, with other vendors when the license expires the internet continues to work but some functionality is limited. Once my license expired before I even knew it, I could not continue with my business functions. 

If you compare the price of Fortinet FortiGate IPS to other firewalls, Check Point is priced very high followed by Palo Alto and Sophos. Fortinet FortiGate IPS price is more reasonable.

I have evaluated other solutions, such as Check Point, Sophos, and Palo Alto.

I rate Fortinet FortiGate IPS a nine out of ten.

Fortinet protects us from web attacks. We also use it to connect our remote users. I'm the IT infrastructure lead. 

I think the overall security features and the performance routing is good.

The security features are good but I'd like to see additional security options. 

I've been using this solution for five years. 

It's a stable solution, yes.

The initial setup is simple and took us about half an hour. We have 50 users in the company. We have one person who deals with all our maintenance and deployment issues. 

We have a three-year license.

I recommend this solution and rate it eight out of 10. 

In an upcoming release, Fortinet FortiGate should add an SD-WAN feature.
