I use Katalon Studio to check my applications.

Katalon Studio is an expensive tool. The price of Katalon Studio is an area of concern where improvement is required.

I have experience with Katalon Studio for around a month.

I don't know about the product's stability.

Though I know about Katalon Studio's scalability, I can't comment much since I have not used the tool much.

I am the only person who was involved in the use of Katalon Studio in my company.

The initial setup of Katalon Studio was easy. The initial setup of TestProject was easier than Katalon Studio's setup phase.

Understanding Katalon Studio and deploying the tool takes half an hour.

For Katalon Studio's deployment to happen, you need to download an EXE file for installation, after which you need to open the application and check whether it is a product compatible with your IT environment. After following the aforementioned steps in my company during the solution's deployment phase, we realized that Katalon Studio was not the specific tool we wanted, causing us to consider TestProject.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

Katalon Studio is an expensive tool.

I recommended Selenium to my company. I have a bit of coding experience. After using TestProject, I had suggested my company consider using Selenium. My company plans to use Selenium, where we can write codes specifically to record scripts and our applications.

In my experience, Katalon Studio is a complex tool. People from a non-coding background might find Katalon Studio a bit hard to understand. After using Katalon Studio for a month in our company, we realized that it was not the most appropriate tool for us, so we switched to TestProject.

I recommend those who plan to use Katalon Studio consider the other tools that are available in the market.

I rate the overall product a five out of ten.

The product provides ease of automation for the cloud. There is no need for coding experience. It is quite easy for a non-technical person to start with automation in two to three days of training sessions.

The product’s regression testing time could be reduced. The dashboards also take too much time to load. Additionally, its licenses are expensive. We have to purchase two licenses, including an enterprise license and a KRE license.

We have been using Katalon Studio for four to five months.

It is a stable platform.

It is an easy-to-scale platform.

I have contacted the product’s technical support team regarding CI/CD queries twice or thrice. Their services are good.

Positive

For Selenium, we need to have quite a good programming knowledge to automate any project. We have to write code for the entire configuration. Katalon has a good interface and is already configured.

It is easy to install. It takes five minutes to complete and requires two people for installation. The complexity of maintenance depends on the automation framework.

The product is expensive. We have purchased its monthly basis license.

I recommend the product to customers willing to pay for the licenses. But, if the company has good programming knowledge, I recommend Selenium.

Katalon Studio is easy to use and maintain. I rate it a nine out of ten.

Katalon Studio is used for supporting multiple technology platforms, such as BGTs, and web clients.

The most valuable feature of Katalon Studio is that everything can be managed from one platform.

Katalon Studio should improve its usability, it still needs some improvement where users can easily use it to build their automation suite. It requires some initial work to set it up. There should be more keywords in the library to limit the coding requirements, this will allow a non-technical person easily start using it, which would be better.

There are a couple of areas, such as test data and service virtualization, that should be integrated into this one, it would be an entrance solution for automation testing.

I have been using Katalon Studio for approximately one year.

When I used Katalon Studio initially there were some stability issues. However, I did a POC and it is very stable. It has been stable for the past four to five years. 

The scalability of Katalon Studio is good.

I'm a part of a centralized team where I have approximately nine different tools. Wherever the requirements are in the project we use the solution, we do not use it on a day-to-day basis.

The support we have received has been good.

I used multiple different solutions previously, such as TestComplete, Selenium, and Micro Focus UFT.  Katalon Studio is similar to Micro Focus UFT in supporting multiple platforms.

The full deployment of Katalon Studio can be heavy. If we have to install the complete Android Studio, it takes a lot of space on the system. Otherwise, the setup is not that complex. They have improved over the years, it is much easier, but space is one constraint it has. Once you install Android Studio completely, it would impact the performance of your machine. 

I did the implementation of Katalon Studio myself.

I have seen a return on investment from using Katalon Studio. After approximately 10 cycles we can see a good return. We have seen a 30 to 40 percent cost savings.

The cost of Katalon Studio is expensive but it is less than some of the other solutions, such as Micro Focus UFT or SmartBear TestComplete. The cost is the main reason we are using Katalon Studio.

I advise others to try this solution if they're looking for a different technology stack of applications, this is one solution they can use instead of using multiple solutions.

Katalon Studio is an integrated platform for multiple technologies in one place, you will receive all many features, such as web applications and mobile.

I rate Katalon Studio a seven out of ten.

Katalon Studio helps my company because it has made our automation process and automation of test cases faster. Earlier, when my company was using open-source tools like Selenium, we were able to manage around three to four test cases per day. With Katalon Studio's use in some projects, my company manages around ten cases per day, fastening our processes.

In Katalon Studio, the record and play feature is valuable as it has reduced the need for my company to do coding and scripting. Katalon Studio serves as a tool meant to make everything codeless, so my company does not have to write too much code, something we like about Katalon Studio as it makes our process faster. Another valuable feature of Katalon Studio is its integration with various other project management and test management tools, like Azure DevOps, TestRail, Jira, etc. In general, integration is also a good feature of Katalon Studio.

Speaking of the improvement required in Katalon Studio, I can say that in my company, we struggle a lot with iOS automation. For iOS apps, in my company, we struggle a lot since we set it all up on Mac, an area that can be improved. If Katalon Studio allows for more integrations with other test management and project management tools, it would be great since, right now, its integration capabilities are very limited.

If I talk about the free version of Katalon Studio, my company has been using it for a few years. My company has been using Katalon Studio's paid version for less than a year.

Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Katalon Studio as a product has been scaling up on a day-to-day basis. Whenever I speak to the support team of Katalon Studio, I learn that some new features will be included in the product. It is a scalable product. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Considering Katalon Studio's paid and free versions, ten people in my company use the product.

My company plans to increase the use of Katalon Studio in our environment, and we are also trying to enter into a partnership program with Katalon so that my company receives more offerings from the product side. For now, my company has purchased Katalon Studio to use on a project-to-project basis.

The solution's technical support is very good. I rate the technical support a nine out of ten.

The product's initial setup is not at all difficult.

For Katalon Studio's deployment, you can easily just download the ZIP file and install it on your system, and it's all set to go. Nowadays, there is an EXE file, which you download and double-click on to install it on your system, making it very easy to install and set up. Probably, the setup phase of the tool with integrations may take some time, but it is very easy to use. There is a beautiful UI and UX that Katalon Studio provides its users. With Katalon Studio, you can easily just provide the URL of your project management or test management tool, and then you can verify it, link it, and then you can do one-to-one mapping of your test cases as well.

I rate the normal setup phase of Katalon Studio a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy. For iOS specifically, Katalon Studio's setup phase was difficult.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

Just one person can deploy the solution in a couple of hours.

Price-wise, Katalon Studio is a costly product. Considering what the solution provides its users with, I can say that price-wise, Katalon Studio is an okay product.

Those planning to use Katalon Studio need to identify their purpose for the tool. It is pretty easy to use if someone wants to use Katalon Studio for web and API testing and maybe for use cases concerning just mobile phones or Android. For iOS, Katalon Studio's users might face challenges. It takes a lot of time to set it up, and you will need Mac or Apple to specifically set it up, and then other things, like Mac Apple ID, etc, along with some linkage with Katalon WebDriver. Currently, iOS is something that could be a challenge, but otherwise, for the rest of the things, Katalon Studio is pretty easy to use.

I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.

My use cases were focused on the fintech industry.

It enabled us to automate numerous tests that were previously done manually.

The most valuable feature is its automation security capabilities. It also allows integration with other solutions such as Jira and Slack.

The integration process with Jira should be enhanced and facilitated.

I have used it for one year and a half.

It is a very stable solution. I would rate it nine out of ten.

I would rate its scalability nine out of ten.

It saved us a lot of time, so we were really satisfied with it.

The pricing is good. It is the market average.

I am highly satisfied with Katalon Studio and would recommend it to others. I would rate it nine out of ten.

We use the tool to automate our web regression. 

The tool is easy to use. The product gives me the flexibility to use Selenium. I can also use my Java capabilities in the solution. 

The tool's maintenance is very difficult since they do not follow call by value or call by reference. Due to this, any change happening is not reflected throughout all the test cases. There are some issues with data parameterization as well. 

I have been working with the solution for two and a half years. 

The tool is stable. I would rate its stability a seven out of ten. The solution takes time to load the test cases. 

The tool is scalable. I would rate the tool's scalability an eight out of ten. We use around 28-30 licenses. 

The tool's tech support needs to improve. Most of the issues that we have raised, they consider as feature enhancements. However, they are trying to work very closely with us. 

I have used Selenium, Appium, and Micro Focus UFT. If we wanted to use Selenium or Appium, then we would require to build their framework which Katalon didn't require. Also, pricing was a factor in the decision-making process. 

The tool's setup is straightforward. You can just download and use it. I would rate the solution's setup a nine out of ten. The tool is hosted on the Katalon server. 

The tool's pricing is cheap compared to other alternatives. I would rate the tool's pricing a three out of ten. 

I would rate the overall tool a seven out of ten. You should use this solution if cost is your criteria and don't want to build a framework for yourself. I would suggest using the community edition first for a year and then moving ahead with the enterprise version. 

We have migrated our Selenium IDE script to Katalon.

The most valuable feature of Katalon Studio is the ease of use of the solution. In particular, scripting for a new user is easy.

Katalon Studio's support and service need to improve. They reply late and do not provide clear guidance, or a clear transition plan.

The solution can be further improved with better loading time.

In future releases, I would like to see the feature offered by their competitor included in Katalon. The competitors have image testing that captures a certain object on our website. Katalon would benefit by adding this feature.

I have been using Katalon Studio for less than one month.

It is too early to tell how stable the solution is. We have not tested the tool with the volume that we are expected to have. Currently, we have less than 10 scripts in my team, and they are purely for integrating and navigating.

We have seven users of the product in our organization, which includes six engineers and one manager.

Our company has a success plan that gives us direct access to their technical support and customer success manager. The one problem we are encountering is the language barrier. The support team speaks Vietnamese, making it difficult for them to relay what they are trying to say in English. However, they do know the solution.

The other concern we have with Katalon's customer service and support is that it takes them too long to solve the problem. It can take a day before hearing from them, and often times I need to follow up. 

I would rate their service a four out of five overall because they have the knowledge, it is just unorganized and the response time is too slow.

Prior to using Katalon Studio, we were using Tricentis. We switched because it is a free tool and currently, they are unable to maintain it.

In terms of features, the usability of Tricentis is okay. It has unlimited executions and storage. They have community support, which I don't believe Katalon has, as they resolve concerns primarily through ticketing.

The initial setup of Katalon Studio is easy. It took less than 15 minutes to deploy the product.

The implementation of the product was done through our in-house team.

It is too soon for me to recommend Katalon Studio to other users because we have not used the product long enough to provide feedback. However, my first week with Katalon was disappointing because of the support. 

Overall, I would rate Katalon Studio a five out of ten.

I am the manager of a team that provides testing services to clients and we use Kalaton Studio for test automation (mainly for web applications) as well as Jira which we use for test management.

Most of our Katalon Studio deployments are based on a private cloud because we work with companies that have particular concerns about security and they prefer to use either private cloud or on-premises infrastructure with machines internal to the company.

Being based in Portugal, our team size isn't that big compared with other countries like Germany, UK, or the United States. Thus, we are not officially partners with Katalon, but sometimes our clients ask us to facilitate the reselling of Katalon Studio.

Katalon Studio's biggest advantage is its price. It's a good tool for the price, albeit with some limitations when you compare it with tools like Tricentis Tosca. However, these tools are in completely differently leagues, just like in football where you have the National league and the Championship league. For specific needs, given its price, Katalon Studio is a good solution.

One aspect that can be improved is testing for desktop applications. I would like to see them support more technologies in this area. For example, Tosca, in contrast to Katalon Studio, has support for more than 150 different technologies.

I have been working with Katalon Studio for about 18 months. 

It is a stable product.

We have previously used Micro Focus UFT One and Tosca, and we also have experience using Selenium and Cypress in specific situations.

It's tricky to say whether the setup is easy or not in an absolute sense. In some cases, it's very straightforward, and in general it is easy to set up. We usually take a few days for the installation of Katalon Studio.

We implement Katalon Studio as part of a comprehensive solution that we provide as a service for clients, and it is just one piece of the whole solution. The number of people involved in the initial deployment is completely dependent on the size of the project and the stringency of the security required, but it usually only takes one or two people.

We have seen return on investment, but it depends on the application that you need to test. It's like a car; if you buy an expensive car that supports hundreds of thousands of kilometers without expensive repairs in the garage, you get the payback on that investment. And if you buy an expensive car and you only want to use the car on weekends, e.g. 100 kilometers per weekend, you might die before you get return on that investment. So it all depends.

In terms of pricing, Katalon, Selenium, and Cypress all represent a similar level of investment. The software for these tools are either true open source or almost open source (because they charge a small fee), so pricing is a neutral point for me. The price isn't a problem. It's all about compatibility with the application undergoing testing.

If you took twice as many hours to finish something that in another tool you could finish in half the time, then it represents an unnecessary cost. What you don't spend in license fees, you may be spending in the service itself, or in people to support it. These are costs that may become evident later.

Other test automation tools that we evaluated are products that we have used previously such as Micro Focus UFT One and open source tools like Selenium and Cypress.

When it comes to Selenium, it is more of a scripting language, while Katalon is a keyword-driven solution in which you can use visual programming.

The biggest piece of advice I can give to others is to first analyze whether the tool is compatible with the application to undergo testing.
