My main use cases for Nutanix Database Service are for SQL workloads and the cloning of lower-end environments.
There's been a positive impact. We're bringing in new applications and workloads and being able to clone and spin up other environments off of what we already have. It eases turnaround time. When the requests come in, we're able to fill them and get them back to the business, and make them available to the customer fast.
The feature I appreciate the most in Nutanix Database Service is the Time Machine. The simplicity of the Time Machine feature in Nutanix Database Service and being able to have a point in time that you can go back to at whatever your retention period is, is really great and helpful for us.
The Time Machine feature in Nutanix Database Service has definitely reduced turnaround time for when we need clones or other environments spun up off of our existing environment, such as for corruption. It has helped the workload significantly. We're a very small team of database administrators. It worked really effectively for them and helped the workflow much more than our previous solution.
Using Nutanix Database Service has reduced the time it takes to provision a database by 75%.
The efficiency gained by using Nutanix Database Service has led to a positive impact on our business as far as bringing in new applications and workloads. Being able to clone and spin up other environments off of what we already have in NDB eases turnaround time when requests come in, and we're able to fill them and get them back to the business and make them available to customers.
We've been able to automate DBA tasks. It simplifies turnaround time. Our DBA can deploy on how own and no longer waits for requests to be fulfilled.
Nutanix Database Service can be improved by enhancing logging; when we're trying to look for errors, one of the hiccups we always run into is that it's very hard to pinpoint and look through the logs. A better way to search and filter through that would be helpful.
To make Nutanix Database Service a perfect ten, it would require some GUI refreshes and resolving logging issues to make it easier to troubleshoot.
I have been using Nutanix Database Service for at least two years.
Once we overcame the initial issues with the deployment across multiple sites, Nutanix Database Service has been very stable. Everything is keeping up without delays or hiccups in far ends, backups and Time Machines.
Nutanix Database Service scales very effectively with the growing needs of my company so far.
The scaling of database deployments with Nutanix Database Service gives us definite peace of mind. We've been having multiple locations spread across our regions, and now we can have databases spun up and replicated for our different physical data centers.
Nutanix Database Service customer service and technical support are always great when we have to call in if we need to. We have a repertoire and a good relationship with several different support folks and engineers during our rollouts. When we call back in, they'll either see the ticket or take the call. They'll know our environment already, so they usually are very quick to resolve whatever comes up that we can't do ourselves.
I'd give Nutanix Database Service customer service and technical support a nine out of ten.
Positive
Before choosing Nutanix Database Service, we were using a previous competitor to handle snapshot cloning of databases. Once we were made aware of NDB, that was probably the feature that interested us the most out of anything else that might have been out there. It checked all of our immediate needs.
We had a few rollout hiccups initially. We tried to spread it out geographically to multiple sites. We had difficulty with distance and latency. The engineers from Nutanix helped us, and they were very responsive to our needs and requests and put a few things in place to meet our expectations.
I have seen a return on investment while using the Nutanix Database Service. It's more about time and efficiency, not necessarily profit-driven. We're able to complete other projects and tasks because we're spending less time creating databases.
In terms of efficiency improvement, when it comes to any database-related tasks that I'm involved with, we have achieved at least 50% efficiency when we're rolling out and supplying databases to our units.
My experience with the setup costs, licensing, and pricing of Nutanix Database Service feels pretty fair and straightforward. We had many talks with our reps prior to actually purchasing and diving in, along with demos and next conversations.
For database management, we really didn't evaluate any other products. We wanted to try and keep everything in the Nutanix umbrella. It was an easy decision for us to make at that time.
My developers do not use Nutanix Database Service to provision or refresh databases directly from their development environments yet. We still have to move all of our workloads over into NDB. Unfortunately, red tape and slow progress has kept us from being able to complete that. Once we get everything 100% in there and policies in place, then we plan to slowly roll that out for them.
I do not make use of Nutanix Database Service's support for EPAs or MariaDB Enterprise versions yet; we are only doing SQL right now.
I rate Nutanix Database Service eight out of ten.
My main use case for Nutanix Database Service is to provide faster deployment of databases to the business.
This has benefited my company by providing a faster turnaround time with quicker deployments. Instead of waiting one to two weeks for a new database service to be up and running, it takes only a couple of days. Our turnaround time has improved tremendously.
Our database administrators use the solution to provision or refresh databases directly from their development environment. The ability to provision databases themselves allows for faster execution. When the business users need new databases to be provisioned, they usually request the database team. There is a faster turnaround time through the portal interface and the automation behind the scenes.
It expedites the turnaround time, allowing us to be flexible. We are able to provide the business with a product that they need right away, and we're also able to scale it as their requirements change. We're also able to introduce recovery options that would have required more effort, but now the Nutanix Database Service allows for seamless integration, all fully automated. It doesn't overcomplicate the timeline process.
It has helped us to automate database admin tasks. This automation affects the types of tasks my DBAs are now able to do because they don't need to worry about waiting for the servers to be built and the applications to be installed, whether it's Oracle or SQL. They go right into the system. With a few clicks, they have something readily available. It then allows them to customize the database for the business or for the application, include indexes or any particular tasks that the business requires, and do custom coding for the actual development. They're able to work on that more quickly than waiting several days before the system is actually ready.
What I appreciate the most about Nutanix Database Service is the standardization and ease of deployment. It makes it easier for the database administrators to deploy without either the database administrator or the business needing all their staff and waiting a long period of time to have their request fulfilled.
Using Nutanix Database Service has reduced the time it takes to provision the database. It takes just a couple of days. When we plan a project, we typically define a few weeks for database server buildouts. That would entail the building, the initiation of the server builds, the deployment of the database application of choice, and then the customization of the database. With Nutanix Database Service, we're able to templatize these offerings. The deployment is a lot faster, which allows the DBAs to perform their tasks more quickly. Instead of waiting for weeks, it's just a matter of days for that turnaround.
One of the things that we've discovered specific to SQL is that the deployment options that are available do not match our company standards, so we have asked the Nutanix team if that is something that is customizable or if we need to adjust our deployment strategy. That's the only thing that we've discovered so far.
I have been using Nutanix Database Service for two weeks.
The stability and reliability of Nutanix Database Service are evident in its easy deployment and simple product design. We've tested the backup of the appliance with our backup technology. We're able to restore it, and so far, we haven't had any issues. It's not a redundant set of appliances; it's a single, simple standard appliance to deploy. Because of its simple nature, it's very easy to replicate and very easy to recover from backup if necessary.
Nutanix Database Service scales effectively. The product itself is a single appliance, but the usage will scale based on our business needs. As the business needs increase, it's very easy to just add more Nutanix clusters, and we would just define those clusters within Nutanix Database Service.
We've been working with the Nutanix professional services team, and they've been very helpful in deployment and use. They were able to provide great training to our database administrators so that they were comfortable using it. They explained how to use it with our Oracle databases and also provided training on how to use it with SQL. The support team was there to answer all the DBA questions on tweaking, scaling, and feature sets, so they've been great.
I would give them a ten out of ten.
Positive
We weren't aware of any other solutions before choosing Nutanix Database Service. As we started our Nutanix journey, this was showcased to us, and we really didn't know that this existed. It is available in the cloud, which helps mimic what we do today in the cloud and certain types of initiatives. We appreciate the speed and automation that the platform provides, allowing us to do the same on-premises. This is the first solution of its kind that we are using.
Deployment was very easy. We worked with the professional services team at Nutanix. They were able to assist in getting NDB up and running. It was very simple, very straightforward, and not complex at all. This makes the product even that much more valuable. It's easy to deploy, easy to configure, so it's not overly complicated, because sometimes when you have overly complicated solutions, they are hard to maintain and use. Nutanix Database Service has been very simple and straightforward from the beginning, from deployment to actual use cases. It has been great for us.
The biggest return on investment I've seen while using Nutanix Database Service is its flexibility on multiple database applications. We have the flexibility for Oracle, SQL, and some other databases that we currently do not support, but are being asked to support. Having Nutanix Database Service as our platform would allow us to adopt or deploy these new databases just as quickly, without having much of a learning curve.
Pricing wasn't a surprise. It was what we were expecting it to be.
I would rate Nutanix Database Service overall a ten out of ten, considering the simple nature of the solution, what it does, and is able to provide to the business. We can turn around and provide them a requirement faster than we were before. That's always been one of the issues for us within IT as we've grown in size. We're always scaling up and scaling out, but some of the processes didn't improve. This totally revamped our capabilities in provisioning databases. The business has been ecstatic over the quick turnaround time for any databases. So, it's been a great product.
My use cases for Nutanix Database Service are replicated databases between different data centers, and we use it to deploy and protect the databases.
The ability to provision databases themselves has positively affected developer productivity because they don't need to wait for more than a couple of hours; they can perform changes and evolve the product, installing the necessary database in the ecosystem, including Oracle and even PostgreSQL, which is faster than Oracle. It saves a lot of time.
We are currently using Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB. It's amazing because it saves a lot of time in terms of the backup and the patching process. It takes consistent backups while the database is running, and seamlessly with one click, you have the backup, meaning if something goes wrong, you just go back as a snapshot, saving a lot of time.
Nutanix Database Service helps us scale our database deployment. It allows us to add more resources to the database, expand the memory, CPU, and storage, all just by clicks, which is beneficial. It impacts our operations positively.
Nutanix Database Service has helped automate database admin tasks. Previously, everything was done manually. They no longer need to manually check if a particular patch is compatible with the database engine. It automatically checks compatibility and applies patches, providing a GUI for seeing all the patches installed and saving a lot of time.
Using Nutanix Database Service has definitely reduced the time it takes to provision a database. They don't have to do tasks one by one. They can do everything from the GUI. They can manage all the databases from the dashboard. They don't have to manually check each database. It saves a lot of time.
It allows the developers and DBAs to focus on the important aspects of the database, improving it, and analyzing queries. Even with high-quality hardware, improperly configured queries can collapse resources, so they can focus on those improvements.
What I appreciate the most about Nutanix Database Service is that it's simple; it's all in one bundle, and everything is pre-configured so that you can deploy your database and protect it. It's autonomous, needing a few clicks and a few pre-configurations.
It saves a lot of time. It also gives the capability to export JSON commands.
It has already saved me a lot of time, but it can still improve. In the past, there were built-in templates, and now, for some particular databases, I have to create my own templates and push them to NDB, so bringing back those templates would save more time.
I have been using Nutanix Database Service for one year.
There are zero problems regarding the stability and reliability of the platform.
Nutanix Database Service scales perfectly with the growing needs of my company. If we need to add more databases, we can manage it seamlessly, and it even integrates with another server in a different data center, replicating databases and allowing full management capabilities.
The technical support has been awesome. When we faced issues in the deployment, we opened a case, and the support team investigated deeply to resolve the problems. They also implemented fixes in new versions based on bugs we encountered.
Positive
We were using other vendors such as Veritas, which had powerful tools for replicating databases, but this solution has become the centerpiece of our projects because of everything being built in, with a single point of management in Prism Central.
It took a little bit of time to deploy the appliance. The marketplace is a lot more mature now than when we deployed it.
We haven't seen a tangible return on investment yet. The recommendation came from our partner, who studied our case and suggested this product. While initially there was some uncertainty, time savings have been the biggest return, which saves money.
It is amazing. The pricing compared to the time saved is nothing. It's worth the cost.
I would rate Nutanix Database Service a ten out of ten. It changed the way we deploy and maintain databases.
It makes it easy to deploy databases.
The features of Nutanix Database Service that I appreciate the most are that the provisioning is easy to implement.
The provisioning and other features of Nutanix Database Service have improved my company by making it easy to deploy the databases, and DBAs can just deploy what they need as needed instead of having to manually create VMs for them individually and install the databases and setting everything up with DBAs provisioning databases themselves.
The impact of Nutanix Database Service in general has been great time savings. If users need to deploy a database quickly, they can just reach out to the DBAs directly and then they set it up for them to go right away as opposed to having to wait for us to have time.
The ability to provision databases themselves has affected developer productivity. The developers, not the DBAs, can handle it, and the DBAs provision for them. Our developers use Nutanix Database Service to provision or refresh databases directly from their development environments.
Nutanix Database Service has helped automate database admin tasks.
This automation of database admin tasks has affected the type of tasks my DBAs are now able to do, and it saves them time as when a developer needs to have a database, they can do it themselves.
We can easily scale database deployment.
Nutanix Database Service could be improved by making it just a little bit less complex regarding the interface. That said, it's definitely in the right direction.
To make it a ten, they could make it a little more simplified; the console itself and some things seem complicated, and maybe it's due to the fact that I'm not a DBA or a systems admin, but the positive aspect is that they kept the look and feel pretty similar to other Nutanix or other main Nutanix platforms.
I've been using the solution for two years.
The stability and reliability of the Nutanix Database Service platform have been pretty good.
Nutanix Database Service scales perfectly with our growing needs as a company, and we can scale bigger; all we have to do is pay for the license.
The scaling of database deployment affects our operations and business by providing time savings as they can scale to what they need themselves as opposed to us setting up everything from scratch.
The customer service and technical support of the Nutanix Database Service platform have been pretty good with all the tech support.
Positive
The other solutions I considered in my company before choosing Nutanix Database Service were probably just the standard backup solutions, as that was the main reason they purchased it; they were concerned about large databases being backed up currently and being able to restore them in a timely manner.
I didn't do the deployment myself, however, it seems like the setup isn't too bad. It seems pretty straightforward. Provisioning has moved from a couple of days to a few hours. The amount of time and money saved has been substantial.
Days have been saved thanks to its provisioning utility. Using the solution has reduced the time it takes to provision a database from a couple of days to hours.
This has affected my business since it saves time, and saving time is saving money.
The biggest return on investment for me when using this product is that I don't have to worry about the database side of things, for example, making sure that the backups were picked up from the flat files and going to a backup system; I can just hand it all over to the DBAs, make sure it gets done, and for them, it can save them time too.
The pricing and setup for Nutanix Database Service wasn't too expensive.
Before choosing Nutanix Database Service, we also considered a few other solutions. We chose this solution since the databases were already Nutanix. We wanted to stay with the same brand.
I rate Nutanix Database Service a nine out of ten.
Our team is the infrastructure team, managing and deploying the database for the database team. We have a requirement for a large database that is very important in the environment, and the DBA team was concerned about losing data. That is the use case for which we purchased the product.
The cloning technology has been beneficial in reducing backup times. Over 6 or 7 terabytes of data takes several days, maybe a week. With the cloning technology in Nutanix Database Service, the time reduces to less than an hour, which is very useful.
As Nutanix Database Service has reduced the time it takes to provision databases, it gives us time to do other things rather than work on minute tasks. We can do things that really matter and help the customer in the long run. With everything nowadays becoming automated, this is definitely a solution we have enjoyed using.
When it comes to automation, Nutanix Database Service definitely makes patching easier because you can clone one and then use Time Machine. We can perform all those tasks via Nutanix Database Service instead of having to fail over manually, patch, and fail back.
I appreciate being able to provision a database quickly from our side. We provision it and hand it off. It makes work much easier. Previously, it would take a week or two to do the same in a traditional way, whereas now, it gets completed within about an hour.
Sometimes the DBAs provision it themselves, but they're not very well trained on it yet. They either don't want to do it or might be apprehensive, so they're not doing as much as they should be. However, they are getting more involved gradually. It may also be that the database we're using is really important, and they don't want to risk breaking anything.
It is fast to do the provisioning because everything is done from base templates. As long as you have a template that is updated periodically, it just creates a mirror.
I don't have a comprehensive answer because we're not utilizing it extensively. The only improvement I would suggest is making the template creation and updating process more straightforward and automated.
I have been using Nutanix Database Service for about two years.
Once you set it up correctly and know that it's there, as long as you're not trying to upgrade anything, it works as intended. We haven't had issues with it. The only times you may encounter something is if you're trying to upgrade with mismatches in software versions. Nutanix has features that provide pre-checks to help ensure what you're attempting is supported.
We haven't done much scaling out yet because there hasn't been much need, and we're still working with the initial implementations.
Overall, Nutanix support is fantastic, and I would rate it a nine out of ten. You might get one or two representatives who are hard to work with, but mostly, everybody is super helpful and fantastic. It is one of the better support teams in the industry.
With vendors of other technologies, it can take days, whereas with Nutanix, it usually takes hours.
Positive
There were a few challenges. We had to have a Nutanix engineer helping us with the engagement and going back and forth a few times. It had to do with the way it was provisioned initially. It was giving us a hard time because it wasn’t set up as per the recommendations.
The setup involved a two-week engagement with one of the Nutanix Database Service specialists, and it was good. In terms of management, that has helped tremendously because earlier, patching-wise, we were doing the manual work. We used to have a lot of sleepless nights because a lot of the work had to be done after hours, so we've saved time in that part as well.
The setup times have reduced from two weeks to maybe half a day.
I wasn't involved much with the pricing and setup costs and licenses. The pricing was as expected.
We didn't consider other solutions because this was something we recommended to our database team, and they immediately appreciated it. We're a big Nutanix shop, and when we recommended this to the DBA team, they accepted our recommendation. It was the only solution they saw, and they were impressed with it, resulting in a purchase a month later.
If money is not a factor, I would advise other companies to go for Nutanix Database Service because it's not inexpensive. It is a great solution.
I would rate Nutanix Database Service an eight out of ten. I'm sure there are things Nutanix can fix and is working on in the background, but we're not using it to its fullest capacity. It fits our use case.

Nutanix Database Service can be improved by implementing more AI capabilities.
I have worked with Nutanix Database Service for the last few years.
I rate technical support from Nutanix Database Service as 10 out of 10.
Positive
The initial setup of Nutanix Database Service is simple and easy.
I have seen a return on investment with Nutanix Database Service.
I have used Nutanix Database Service automation.
Nutanix Database Service is a scalable solution.
The pricing of Nutanix Database Service is fair.
On a scale of 1-10, I rate Nutanix Database Service a 9.
My clients primarily use the product to host their SQL servers.
As a reseller, the most positive aspect about the product is the ability to shift workloads from on-premise to cloud, being cloud-agnostic.
The benefit I see from the product in terms of its solution is that flexibility regarding where the workload runs is probably the biggest advantage with Nutanix Database Service.
With Nutanix Database Service specifically, it would be good to have wider support. There have been instances where clients have been using databases that are not supported by Nutanix Database Service, though I cannot recall which ones at the moment.
When considering challenges from a technical perspective or from the licensing part, cost is always a factor. I don't believe it's expensive nor cheap. Skilled resources are needed, but the training is pretty good.
I have been dealing with Nutanix Database Service for several years, though I cannot specify the exact duration.
I have not experienced any stability issues, glitches, or latency. Additional nodes can be added as needed.
The solution will scale without issues.
Technical support from the vendor is good based on our experience.
I would rate support a seven out of ten, where ten is the best. I give it a seven rather than a nine or ten because the issues we've had haven't been particularly challenging. If we had encountered a particularly challenging issue and it was resolved effectively, I would give them a higher score.
Positive
The installation complexity can be classified as medium.
We are starting to work more with HPE products, as HPE is gaining market share and traction. When we started working with Nutanix Database Service, they were very hardware-agnostic. They had their own appliances which they've continued to not market or promote. They had a partnership with HPE, which we are also partners with.
They also conducted partnership activities with Oracle and are quite visible in the market with Oracle, which caused us some concern. Meanwhile, HPE has continued to improve their offering.
When comparing Nutanix Database Service with HPE, Nutanix Database Service remains technically superior because that's their focus. Strategically, HPE is something we'll continue to explore, though we haven't done any real work with their virtualization platforms.
Nutanix Database Service is technically better based on our experience, considering the feature set, the way it runs, and their focus. Nutanix Database Service is a leader in what they do.
I am aware of the performance tuning capability, though I couldn't confirm whether clients are using it.
Regarding automation, I am not aware if clients work with this aspect. I am familiar with the automated updates feature.
Assessing the impact of these updates on operational efficiency, I find it positive without any negatives.
I rate Nutanix Database Service an eight out of ten.
I have 19 companies that have implemented S/4HANA, and I provide them with hosting services in two countries: Honduras and El Salvador.
Nutanix Database Service optimizes our virtual platforms, giving us higher availability. We have billing databases where we bill around 11 million transactions per month. We haven't fully implemented the solution, so we don't know how much it will reduce the time needed to provision a database, but 5 percent would be enough. By converging all my databases on a single platform, I can monitor everything with fewer resources.
I wanted a tool that offers enough monitoring for everything related to load balancing in my databases. This seems to be a highly valuable feature of Nutanix Database Service. We want our database admins to have greater control when monitoring so that the databases we use today are more flexible, and the storage capacities can also be monitored.
We only deployed it last month and haven't used it on a wider scale, but so far, it's perfect. Judging from the migration alone, Nutanix looks much faster than VMware. It has increased the uptime.
I migrated from VMware to Nutanix Database Service this month.
Nutanix Database Service is highly stable.
The scalability is excellent. Nutanix Database Service has everything I need.
I rate Nutanix customer service 10 out of 10. It's excellent.
Positive
We previously used VMware but switched to Nutanix due to the price.
We are being helped by a consultant called MTC from Venezuela.
The licensing model for Nutanix Database Service is excellent.
I rate Nutanix Database Service 10 out of 10.
We are a service provider for Nutanix using a cloud platform to deliver Database as a Service to our customers to compete with AWS and RDS.
We deliver databases as a service, so the Nutanix Database Service makes scaling and deployment simpler and more agile for our customers. It has reduced the time needed to provision a database by 40 percent.
The ability of Nutanix Database Service to automate database admin tasks has helped lower the cost of DBA operation through a simple and efficient deployment. Lower personnel costs mean lower operational costs of services and support. We also make a passive income with this product, so it affects us positively.
I like how easy it is to implement MySQL, SQL, and open-source database platforms. Our developers use Nutanix Database Service to refresh databases directly from their development environments. For instance, we can upload more than 500 databases with just twice the CPU load.
We use MariaDB enterprise versions. It has simplified our work and enabled us to deploy customers who use these solutions.
It would be helpful if Nutanix added a billing system for databases. We need to automate this with a separate solution. We are service providers, so it would be easier for our customers if there were a built-in system that we could use for billing.
We have used Nutanix Database Service for two years.
Nutanix Database Service is stable.
Nutanix Database Service is scalable.
I rate Nutanix support nine out of 10.
Positive
We have been Nutanix customers for eight years. It was a simple procedure since we have used Nutanix services for so long. We didn't use any specific strategy for deployment or any third party.
We make passive income using the Nutanix Database Service, so the financial return was very good for us.
I rate Nutanix Database Service nine out of 10. It isn't perfect and still requires some development.

Nutanix Era is used for multiple databases where there are a lot of compliance requirements, including backdated restore points for applications. This is particularly useful when the application team needs to be restored quickly. In normal scenarios, this setup would take a day. With Era, it takes minutes. Additionally, the solution simplifies the deployment of various supported databases for UAT service, easing the workload for infrastructure and database teams.
Nutanix Era significantly reduces operational overheads for the IT infrastructure team, backup team, and application team.
Nutanix Era effectively reduces operational overheads by streamlining the application team's implementation of multiple environments. The solution provides databases for audit or analytics services, which are crucial in operations. It supports fast database cloning, enabling quick responses from the application team for product launches without accessing production databases. Proper use reduces errors from infrastructure teams and improves time to market efficiently.
Era should be compatible with various environments, such as VMware and Red Hat, to be hypervisor agnostic. Due to increasing adoption among enterprise clients, integration with Kubernetes platforms is also needed. Furthermore, the product can benefit from improving its understanding of architectural setup and communicating its limitations to users and partners.
I have been working with Nutanix Era for more than four years.
With Nutanix on-premise, I rate the stability as eight out of ten. However, for hybrid platforms, I would rate it lower due to limited functionality.
Scalability is an inherent function of Nutanix Era and works well both on-cloud and on-premise, deserving a high mark.
Technical support from Nutanix has room for improvement. There seems to be a lack of understanding of system limitations and architectural specifics, resulting in deployment challenges.
Neutral
The initial setup of Nutanix Era is straightforward, maintaining Nutanix's reputation for simplicity and ease of installation.
The pricing for Nutanix products is on the higher side, and more flexibility in the licensing model, such as a GB-based license, would likely increase adoption.
I rate Nutanix Era five out of ten. The core-based licensing model is restrictive, and I would recommend that consideration is given to use-case-based license models to improve adoption. I have recommended Nutanix Era to others after increasing awareness of its functional limitations and support challenges.
