We use it for different applications in my company.

Stability and availability are the features I like the most in the solution. Transparent data encryption (TDE) is a feature I like the most in the product.

The product's price can be lower since it is a bit of an expensive solution.

Some engineers have the right skill set to resolve issues, but the support could be better.

I have been using Oracle Database for over ten years. I am an end user of the solution.

It is a stable solution.

The patching is an area that takes a long time, so we are trying to find another solution to minimize the downtime and do the patching.

Oracle Database is easier to scale up. The number of users using the solution in our organization depends on different applications normally, and it may be over a million being used by users for a customer.

The support from Oracle is okay. I rate the technical support a seven out of ten.

The product's installation is difficult compared with other solutions since it can't support other platforms making the installation complicated.

The PoC phase to deploy the tool on-premises will take at least one week.

The solution is deployed on an AWS cloud.

Around two or three people were needed for installation.

My company has opted for perpetual licensing. We only need to make payments toward the licensing of the product.

It is not very easy to maintain Oracle Database. We need nearly twenty people in India to maintain the solution.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

The primary use case is a stable relational database used to manage business applications with less downtime for the business. It seems to have the ability to scale up and down depending upon business needs. We needed a database with effective backup and recovery tools to protect the database against data loss and reconstruct the database quickly in case of any loss. The database addresses information security by providing cutting-edge security features to protect corporate assets and data critical to business.

Oracle Database is easy to install and set up. It has provided great stability and reliability to meet business requirements. The performance of the database is very good and is able to handle extensive workloads. It can run complex queries without any issues. 

Oracle Database offers great new features in every new release and these features provide more enhancements for running and developing smooth database operations. The database backup and recovery tools are easy to use to protect data from any failures.

Oracle Database offers performance, scalability, reliability, and security which are important for any business. 

The Oracle Data Guard helps with high availability, data protection, and disaster recovery for enterprise data. It also helps to survive disasters and data corruption while creating, maintaining, and managing one or most synchronized standby databases important to a business. 

The Recovery Manager (RMAN) is a great feature for backup and recovery which will enable to per perform cold, hot, and incremental database backups, as well as point-in-time recoveries to protect data. 

The high availability features are a little complex to set up and manage. I would like to see some improvements in this feature to make it easier to manage.

I would like to see generative AI services integration to help organizations automate business processes, enhance customer experience and collaboration, and improve decision-making. I'd also like to see increased performance.

Oracle comes with great new features with every new release. These new features help to facilitate and enhance smooth database operations.

I have been using the solution for 20+ years.

The product is very stable.

The solution has great scalability solutions.

The solution has good support. That said, it needs improvement.

The product is easy to set up - except for the high availability features, which are difficult to implement.

We did not implement the solution via a vendor.

The ROI I have witnessed has been good.

It's great product, however, it is a little pricy for the licensing costs. 

I did not previously evaluate other options. 

If you need a better product, then you need to plan the budget accordingly.

The tool's most valuable feature is data encryption. The security features are good. They include field-level security, role-level security, and easy access controls.

The tool is costly, and migration is hard. We need tools like Database Migration Assistant for Oracle to migrate data between databases. Sometimes, older versions of Oracle are no longer supported, making the transition even more difficult.

I have been using the product for ten years. 

I rate Oracle Database's stability an eight out of ten. 

The tool's scalability is fine. However, you need to pay for additional nodes. 
Scalability is an issue because expanding the system requires additional hardware and licenses for each node. There's no option for mirroring the initial license across different nodes, so each new node requires its license. My company has 300,000 users. We're planning to increase usage gradually, depending on customer demand and database growth, aiming for about a 10 to 20 percent increase annually.

I used Microsoft SQL Server before Oracle Database. 

Oracle Database's deployment is fine. The deployment process for the Oracle database involves considering hardware compatibility. Licensing costs may vary based on the server model used.

The licensing cost is not based on a yearly subscription but rather on the number of devices used annually.

I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten. Consider starting with an open-source database instead of Oracle Database, as the enterprise versions and licensing costs can be quite significant.

We use the Oracle Database for applications such as sensor data management, banking tools, e-commerce forms, and similar functionalities. It is a data warehouse.

We have used the database in different production and environments. It has good features for performance tuning. I am using multiple environments for the Oracle web. The main functions are high availability, scalability, load balancing, and data integration.

The price could be lower.

I have been using Oracle Database for 7 to 8 years.

Most customers use the stable version of the Oracle database. They should update it. Oracle V19 is the stable version.

Overall, I rate the solution a 7 out of 10.

We use the solution for ETL and real-time data analytics.

We use the solution for the ERP system, which utilizes dynamic APIs, SQL, and ETL processes.

The solution is easy to use. It also offers a Database Vault.

The pricing could be improved.

I have been using Oracle Database for five years.

The product is stable.

I rate the solution’s stability a ten out of ten.

Depending on where you deploy, Oracle is also scalable. Sixteen sites with 50 users each are using this solution.

I rate the solution’s scalability a ten out of ten.

The initial setup was straightforward and took a couple of weeks. You can set up a new instance, import/export databases, or a new blank database. For on-premise, we use Jenkins. We set it up for the cloud so we can receive alerts using Jenkins or any other suitable tool.

Deployment was done in-house.

The solution is very expensive.

We had an annual subscription, but Oracle only recognizes certain VMs. Eventually, we had to migrate to Oracle Linux and allocate a specific number of CPUs to a product to reduce the price.

Four people are required to maintain the solution.

Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

I use Oracle Database to support the customized Java ERP setup that I currently have.

Oracle Database has improved how we do our administrative backups. The solution has a smaller footprint than 11g, it's more efficient on the resources for the users. It has a smoother user experience with the ERP and fewer field transactions.

Oracle Database is running on the same old hardware that I had the 11g version on and it is operating faster. It seems to be really good. It's fast even when the workload is heavy, easy to do backups and other administrative tasks with the Enterprise Manager. 

Oracle Database can automatically assign resources to threads that are heavy. We hardly notice when they are running a heavy query and it is better at managing memory than the older 11g version. When we use the same amount of indexes when migrating to 19c, I didn't have to do any other modification and we have increased usage on the ERP. The Oracle Database is handling everything very well.

Oracle Database could improve by having a better-integrated view of the containerized databases. The Enterprise Manager is great at that, but if there was a centralized view of all the containers it would be a large benefit.

I have been using Oracle Database for approximately one year.

The reliability of the Oracle Database is excellent and the performance is very good. I have used MySQL for large transactions which have given me some problems, but in Oracle Database version 19c I have not had these issues. In the Oracle Database version 11g, sometimes I would have some lagging, but in the newer version, it has been fine.

The scalability of the solution is good.

We have approximately 70 users that are using the solution through the ERP.

The support I have received from Oracle Database has been very great. The response times have been good.

I have previously used MySQL.

The initial setup of Oracle Database is straightforward, it was easy. The migration from an older version was not a problem at all, and it took under one hour.

I did the implementation mostly myself, but because of the ERP setup, I had to have support from the vendor. It was a partnership setup.

I do the maintenance of the solution, we only require one person. I use the solution on a daily basis.

Oracle Database could make the documentation better around licensing. The way you have to access software from Oracle is difficult. You have to go through the licensing lawyer to understand what your reach is when you subscribe to one unit. I wish the documents were easier to understand for everyone. This is a problem I have always grappled with and it's not changed. Having clarity is even more important now that I'm thinking of having a hybrid setup for the database in the cloud for high availability.

The cost of the solution is reasonable. It costs approximately $4,000 with some extra features we have.

I would recommend this solution to others. However, it does depend on different organizations and their needs. If the resources are a little heavy, which makes for disaster recovery planning, a little bit tricky.  

I would advise people to explore how their workloads would be and if they can be containerized in the cloud. That would make it way easier for them to manage them. The scalability of Oracle Database is very easy to grow or shrink as the need.

I rate Oracle Database a nine out of ten.

We use the solution as a database, basically. We do not use it for the data warehouse. It's just a few databases.

We're satisfied with the solution. The performance is great.

We find the solution to be stable.

The scalability is very good. You can expand it if you need to.

We don't have any concerns with the data activity and recovery capabilities.

The initial setup is easy.

The cost of Oracle is far too high. They should work to make it less expensive. We're going to stop using it for this reason. 

They could improve the scalability a bit. There are other options that are more scalable, for example. 

I've been using the solution for almost 10 years now. It's been a decade. I've used it for a while. 

The stability is very good and it has very good performance. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable. 

We don't have an issue with the solution's scalability. It's expandable. 

What we see is Mongo and Cassandra, and many other databases that are extremely scalable and distributed. With Oracle, obviously, there are other types of databases that are performing better in this area. Obviously, they could improve scalability from a scalability perspective.

I've never contacted technical support. I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive they are. 

We are using DB2 on mainframes and we do have Microsoft SQL, and then we started using PostgreSQL as well.

We haven't had a problem with the initial setup. It's very simple and straightforward. 

I haven't installed it in recent times, however, from what I recall, the actual production upgrade took us probably less than four hours.

Currently, the database team is around 40 or more people from engineering and from operations. It's a full database engineering and operations team so it's covering other databases as well - such as DB2 and SQL and Cassandra and other databases. You can take three to six engineers and have them handle deployment and maintenance, although everyone works on other things.

We handled everything in-house. We did not need the assistance of integrators or consultants. 

It's CPU-based licensing. The cost is far too high. We're looking into other options to avoid having to pay so much. There are both licensing and support costs you need to consider. 

We have been looking at less expensive options such as Azure SQL and PostgreSQL.

We're a customer and an end-user.

We use both cloud-based and on-premises deployments. 

While I might have recommended Oracle in the past, due to the cost factor, it's hard to recommend it these days. 

I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten.

We are fine with the performance and everything they offer. 

They are the market leader, therefore we don't have any problems or complaints as of now.

The support is always very helpful and responsive. 

The solution is very flexible. It offers a variety of setups.

The stability is good. 

While we get some performance issues from time to time, we get very good support from the Oracle support team, and those issues are sorted out. 

The setup process can be a bit complex. You will want to have someone on-side that can help you navigate the process.

I've been working with the solution for 20 years. 

For the most part, the performance is good and it offers good stability. There aren't really bugs or glitches. it doesn't crash or freeze. 

It's a market leader in RDBMS. It is quite good, compared to other RDBMS such as Db2, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.

Technical support has been great. As part of operations, people just get some issues, sometimes, however, there might be different reasons for that that may not be related to Oracle itself. Overall we are fine with all the services it offers.

This is a very, very vast database, and it offers a lot of architecture. We can go for grid architecture or rack architecture. We can go for the long architecture or we can go with a simple standalone database. Depending on what an organization wants, we can adapt. However, the implementation also depends on what you want or your organization wants. If you're looking for very complex data centers, for example, having one of the primary databases running in London, and your secondary database or DR site running in Singapore, and both are running on a different rack, you can do that, however, the setup process will be unique to you. There isn't a standard time it takes. It offers a lot of flexibility. Obviously, if you go for the high scalability, high availability, all those features, which are provided by Oracle, then it becomes slightly complex, and we need a dedicated team to handle all those setups. 

If you have the requirement of RDBMS and if you're posting logs there, then, I would suggest that you should go for Oracle. It all depends on your organization's technology roadmap. If a company is more inclined towards Microsoft technology, and they're inclined to Azure cloud, then probably they should go with an SQL Server. However, if they're inclined towards AWS or if they don't have any such consent, and if their costing allows, then Oracle is the best bet.
