Oracle Multitenant Reviews

We use VPD, Virtual Private Database, for the multitenancy. We are selling products and using Oracle Multitenant for tenants, for building the product for our customers. We have many customers, actually thousands, and the main objective is to separate data from one customer to another.

The analytics part is what we find most valuable. The analytics tool, Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), is the main important component of this solution. We are currently evaluating OAC, the cloud version. In the analytics part, the VPD handles all the necessary functions effectively.

There are no improvements needed in Oracle Multitenant, but improvements could be made in the AI part. We feel that the server, OAS, the analytics server, is missing an AI component which exists in the cloud, in OAC.

We have been using this solution for almost 12 years.

The performance of the reports is satisfactory 95% of the time.

The solution is partially extendable. It is not very easy to scale. If we want to grow, we need additional servers, which is why we are considering the cloud.

Support is good, rating at 8.5 out of 10.

We have not used any previous solutions.

The installation process is acceptable. It was more complicated previously, but now it has improved.

Since we are not the DBAs, this would be a question for the database administrators.

We have not measured the return on investment.

We handle the administration, configurations, and related tasks internally. I would prefer to keep the company name anonymous. Based on our experience with this solution, I rate Oracle Multitenant a 9 out of 10.

We are still working with Oracle, specifically Oracle Database and Oracle Analytics. We have many customers, and we use the multitenant model. We use the on-premises deployment and not the local cloud, however, it is actually the same. 

We are integrators, mainly using VPD, the virtual private database, in terms of security of data between customers. We do not handle the installation side; that needs to be addressed by DBAs.

Our primary use of Oracle includes writing queries for retrieving data for customers without worrying about the customer ID, user ID, as it is automatically connected to each query. This ensures the right data is retrieved for each customer without involving wrong data. 

We use the VPD, which aligns with our data security needs across customers, though it is not easy to maintain. Despite the challenges, Oracle works well for us.

There are many functions where changes are not easy to implement, and we try to avoid modifying these areas due to security issues and the complexity of maintaining them. Also, support can be improved as it sometimes takes a long time to resolve complex issues.

It is stable and working well.

From my point of view, scalability is good; it is working well without limitations.

I would give Oracle Multitenant a nine. I would prefer to remain anonymous in this review. 

The overall product rating I would give is nine out of ten.

I use Oracle Multitenant for database operations, particularly in the banking system.

The modernization aspect of Oracle Multitenant is significant. It wasn't available previously in database technology, but now it is, enhancing database consolidation. The pluggable databases feature makes management and migration easier. These databases are easier to administer compared to traditional non-container databases.

I have not encountered challenges that require feedback for changes. Oracle Multitenant is quite stable and reliable. The only issue is that shared files for the main container affect all container databases if something happens to them.

I have been working with Oracle Multitenant since 2021.

From one to ten, I rate the stability of Oracle Multitenant between seven and eight. The product is stable, but I'm not giving it a higher score because issues with shared files can affect all container databases.

Oracle Multitenant is scalable. I rate it a nine in terms of scalability.

Oracle's technical support responds promptly to issues and queries. There are no delays, and they respond as quickly as needed.

I have worked with Microsoft SQL before. My switch to Oracle was due to a better employment opportunity rather than technological reasons.

The initial setup was straightforward as long as the provided documentation was followed.

I am part of the maintenance team for Oracle Multitenant. Our team consists of four engineers.

Oracle Multitenant reduces operational costs because it licenses the root container for multiple databases, costing less than traditional non-CDB databases. This results in financial savings for the company.

The pricing of Oracle Multitenant is a six or seven compared to other database providers. There are no extra expenses beyond the standard licensing fee, except for specific features like Active Data Guard and GoldenGate.

I recommend Oracle Multitenant to other companies. My overall rating for Oracle Multitenant is eight.

I use the solution in my company since queries and everything can be easily manipulated. All the data can be easily drawn out if we write simple queries. It is quite easy to access the database.

Everything is going well with the tool. From the scope of improvement, I would say that people are adopting new query options. Certain databases like MongoDB adopt new query options so that they can just pull the data. Using new query options, we can generate the data, which will be pretty helpful for those users who don't have any knowledge about databases. They also can face the data without learning to do some queries.

I have been using Oracle Multitenant for two years. I am a customer of Oracle.

It is quite stable. We have not faced any kind of instability in the database.

The tool can be used for multiple purposes. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

My company never reached out to the solution's technical support. I don't have any knowledge of how their support works.

The product's initial setup phase is handled by a specific team involved in bundling the data. I am not very familiar with the initial setup.

First of all, we all have to learn the language to face the data, but once we learn it, it will be pretty easy to use. One needs some experience in order to do it and some level of fundamentals to use the product.

From an ODP perspective, everything is fine.

I recommend the tool to others.

We have multiple customers on Oracle Multitenant, and each one needs to see their own data.

I have used Oracle Multitenant for 10 years.

Oracle Multitenant is stable and performs well. 

I rate Oracle Multitenant nine out of 10 for scalability. It can be complicated to scale up the solution, but it's scalable. We have 35,000 users. 

Oracle Multitenant is typical of most databases. The initial installation takes a few minutes. An in-house team of database engineers, admins, and developers handled the deployment. I wasn't involved. 

I rate Oracle Multitenant nine out of 10. I would recommend Oracle Multitenant to others. It's easy to use and works great, but it takes time to implement.

It's database software, so it's usually used for enterprise applications, for example, to ensure that you mostly use Oracle. In our country, it's mainly used by financial institutions.

I do like the security features and data recovery for features that were enabled there. With the right configurations, you can maintain an environment without retaining the risk of losing any kind of data. 

There's also a point in time recovery, et cetera. This is quite useful. 

The initial setup is simple. 

It is a stable product.

You can scale the solution as needed. 

It is very feature-rich.

Technical support could be faster. 

It's a nice product. It rarely disappoints anyone, but when it disappoints, support takes a lot, a bit of time before they sort you out. If they could improve that, then it'll be a very good experience using it.

I've been using the solution for three years.

The solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze. It is reliable. 

It's really scalable. The licensing is easy. As you continue having more workloads, you continue to license for more calls. It moves up with you.

We are a bank and we have many, many users. 

Technical support is okay.

With support, you have an issue where you find there are these prerequisites for procedures that take a lot of time. There are logs that they need and all that. There are prerequisite procedures they usually have that usually take some time which slows down resolutions.

I've used MySQL in the past. 

I didn't choose Oracle. After I got certified, I got a job in a place where they already use Oracle.

It is easy to set up the solution. 

There's a GUI pop-up. It's mostly clicking  next, next, next, unless where you just specify certain items in some configurations.

The deployment time depends on the setup. If it's one single use of a database, it can take a matter of just two to three hours.

I'd rate the setup a four out of five in terms of ease of setup. 

If you have a certified DBA, it can be done in-house.

I can't speak to the cost. I don't handle licensing. 

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. 

If well configured, it's a really nice. One should consider it. For databases, it's got very high transactions and is very low to tolerant on losing any kind of data.

We are currently migrating to Oracle's multitenant architecture and are in the process of moving databases over from the old architecture to use this as a multitenant database. We are customers of Oracle and integrators of this solution.

This is a cost-effective solution because we're using the free version and we receive three databases for the price of one. The DBAs now benefit from having more databases and nobody is negatively impacted. It's a good investment. 

Multitenant has a container database with many pluggable databases. A great feature is that you can upgrade the container to a more recent version and all the pluggable databases are automatically upgraded to that version. Previously it would have required an upgrade for each database. The second great feature is the clone which enables you to get the clone of pluggable databases with one command, as opposed to copying data from one place to another. 

I think a GUI for commands would improve the solution because it's currently managed with commands in the CLI.

I've been using this solution for seven years. 

This solution is stable. 

Multitenant is very scalable for the paid version. The free version is limited to three pluggable databases. If your requirements are greater than that, you'll need the paid version and then you can get thousands of databases, so it's very scalable. The extra resources required to add databases are very small. 

The Oracle Database support is not very good, unfortunately.

Negative

The setup is easy, but administering the new architecture is complex for DBAs.
The advantage is that, compared to the old architecture, it's totally transparent for developers and end-users. It has no impact on developers or end-users, so it's great for them. 

Migrating one environment from the old architecture to multitenant architecture can take approximately two days. It's important to plan because there can be some downtime. Unless it's a large company, one in-house DBA can deploy the solution. 

Like us, most customers use the free version. I believe that licensing for the paid version costs around €20,000 per year.

There are only benefits to using this solution. You get more databases for the same price and the same disk footprint. My advice to DBAs is to be aware that this product is more complex than it was with the old architecture and there's quite a lot to learn so don't neglect that aspect - it's the future.

I rate this solution 9 out of 10. 

We [my company] are in the consulting field. Use cases are based on customer needs. We do projects and implementations based on customer requirements and situations. 

Once you start using it and want to keep in touch with the latest version of Oracle, the latest versions are plugged into the database. There's no other choice.

For me, the best features are the level of separation and independence, the support of development processes, and the optimization of hardware resources.

Moreover, Oracle definitely works with AI, like other vendors. You can do AI projects in Oracle Cloud and all the databases. The most important thing about AI and Oracle is Oracle Cloud, where you can do AI projects or proof of concepts.

There is room for improvement in customer service and support.

I would rate the stability a ten out of ten. 

I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten. Our clients are mostly medium and enterprise businesses. 

Usually, the initial answers are not straight to the point. You get the right answer later. But it's not unstable. The levels are usually used as first-level support, second-level support.

Oracle currently has almost a thousand products. We deal with cloud, databases on-prem, and analytics.

I would rate my experience with the initial setup a nine out of ten, with ten being easy. 

Oracle's development and installation techniques follow best practices in terms of security.

The deployment takes a few hours. 

We are the implementors. 

In my opinion, the price is worth the quality. But, the general view of customers is that Oracle is expensive.

There are some cost-lowering benefits.

Our team considers it the best in database management systems overall.

Overall, I would rate it a ten out of ten. I would recommend using it. 

In our financial software for investment companies, we use Oracle Database. Oracle Multitenant simplifies management by consolidating multiple databases into one, optimizing resource use, ensuring security, and enabling rapid provisioning.

The best thing about Oracle Multitenant for us, as a software development company serving many clients, is its ability to consolidate multiple databases into one engine. This simplifies management and allows us to easily handle different client versions on our servers by creating copies of their databases.

While the product is overall excellent, it is quite expensive.

I have been working with Oracle Multitenant for two years.

I would rate the scalability of Oracle Multitenant as a ten out of ten. We have approximately 15 users at our company.

Technical support for Oracle is very good. They are fast and responsive.

The initial setup is not overly complex.

Oracle Multitenant is suitable mainly for large enterprises due to its high cost and resource demands. There are additional fees beyond standard licensing, which makes it expensive.

Before choosing Oracle Multitenant, evaluate your needs and Oracle Database compatibility carefully. It is great for efficient management and resource utilization, but ensure it suits your requirements and follows Oracle's recommendations.

Overall, I would rate Oracle Multitenant as a ten out of ten.
