While it’s superior to my previous solution, I'm concerned about its high cost and limited local support. |
| Cosultant at Kadaster | 3.5 | I work with Proofpoint for email security and backup, noting its flexibility and strong European presence. However, it struggles with European compliance and there's uncertainty around future licensing costs. Barracuda's Active Directory feature remains a notable competitor. |

We just implemented this solution around a couple of months ago.
With the help of machine learning and artificial intelligence, and additionally with their huge Threat Intelligence, most of the signatures and artifacts are available to categorize what is a false positive and what is actual. We are not getting any false positives as of now.
Proofpoint Email Data Loss Prevention (DLP) can be scaled up and scaled out however needed.
With Fortra, there was a lot of challenge related to the support we realized. No local support was available from India, or if it was available, it was not easily accessible. Most of the time our team has to conduct conference calls or Teams calls with support staff located in Australia and elsewhere. The technical support rating is nine out of ten.
Fortra was the previous solution used. Fortra was an on-premise solution where everything had to be managed by us. Proofpoint Email Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is a cloud solution that we are using as a SaaS setup.
The overall deployment and management operation is better with Proofpoint Email Data Loss Prevention (DLP).

I know the portfolio of Proofpoint. I work with email backup and email security. Most of the time, I consult for various organizations about email and email security.
Proofpoint offers flexibility in licensing, accommodating various levels from small businesses to governments. The setup is straightforward, requiring just a few days. Proofpoint is effective for email communication needs and has a strong presence in the Dutch and European markets.
However, there are uncertainties about future licensing and pricing changes, especially given the differing market focuses.
It is difficult to meet the European security compliancy regulations using Proofpoint since it is very focused on the American market, differing significantly from European policies.
Additionally, there is uncertainty about the future level of license pricing because American organizations sometimes change their product offerings. Barracuda's Active Directory checking feature is one area where Proofpoint could improve.
In today's context, using a backup solution is necessary because Microsoft 365 does not come with standard backup and recovery anymore. Therefore, I have been working with Proofpoint's solution.
I have direct contact with some colleagues working at Proofpoint, which helps in getting in touch with their support. They are also building a European organization now, making direct contact easier.

The licenses for Proofpoint are effective, however, there is uncertainty about future pricing as American organizations might change their product, thereby altering the license. Microsoft has been known to do this.
The Barracuda solution is strong competition, particularly due to its Active Directory checking feature.
For the overall solution, I would rate Proofpoint a seven out of ten.

We have too many features included in the solution. These include third-party malware detection as a primary feature and a secondary feature focused on dealing with various security threats. Deployment depends on the size of the customer and their existing solution. Different customers utilize different exchanges and machinery. Therefore, deployment must align with the customer's environment, and we need to tailor our distribution accordingly. They offer both on-premises and cloud-based solutions, ensuring we meet customer requirements.
The initial implementation takes two to three days to configure. Other than that, tuning may take ten to fifteen days.
The product pricing is very high.
I rate the product’s pricing a twenty out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive.
They have a complete solution for DLP and a module dedicated to email DLP that detects prevention.
It's a very efficient solution for the customer. However, the main issue is that some customers do not have a sufficient budget for this solution, so they opt for another option based solely on pricing. While they feel confident in our solution, they encounter some problems.
Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.
