Stable, easy and quick to install, good enterprise support but the Windows support needs improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "As a Microsoft Tester, I like enabling the Microsoft Hyper-V and running the Virtual Machines for testing purposes."
  • "If Microsoft could find a way to better manage updates and patches, that could be more useful for end users, which would be good."

What is most valuable?

As a Microsoft Tester, I like enabling the Microsoft Hyper-V and running the Virtual Machines for testing purposes.

I like Windows products.

What needs improvement?

Some time ago we had Windows Forms, but it did not perform well enough and Microsoft ended up terminating that area of the business.

I believe that it would be beneficial to introduce Windows Forms back into the solution to have a better experience transitioning from a desktop to a mobile version.

Currently, we are experiencing a lot of activities from hackers. People trying to break into the networks to access our data. This is an issue that is causing concern. I don't see a way of making it better or different. This became a large business for hackers.

It would be great to have a more secure interface, especially in a business environment of critical content. For example, our company has a very high level of governance and security procedures.

There are many updates on a monthly basis. I understand that is how Microsoft helps their customers to manage and be secure with regard to Cyberattacks that we may experience. From a user's perspective, it's not a good experience. From an IT perspective, I know how important those things are.

It should be something that runs more in the background where it is not seen and has less of an impact than they usually have.

When we roll out any Microsoft patch across the Network which is done every Thursday, it had not seen a few computers having issues. That's bringing us X amount of work because we need to remediate the user's issue and all those things.

If Microsoft could find a way to better manage updates and patches, that could be more useful for end users, which would be good.

From an IT perspective, I would like something similar to Splunk where it has some type of visibility, or provide the user with power, or something that we could enable. For example, if we were attacked, we could enable something or download something as a part of the Microsoft portfolio to provide us with more visibility about the threat that is floating around.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Windows 10 since it's been on the market.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My opinion is that Windows 10 is very stable.

How are customer service and support?

I have not had many opportunities to contact technical support but have a few times.

My last contact with them was regarding server versions, which involved Exchange 2013, and few other things, and also about Windows 10 support.

My experience with enterprise support was good and we didn't have any issues, but specifically with Windows 10, it's wasn't a good experience.

Microsoft should have the same level of service. I was expecting more from Microsoft.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are also working with all Microsoft operational systems, from Windows 10 to Windows Servers, Active Directory, and Office 365.

How was the initial setup?

I have worked with Windows since Windows 95 and it has changed a lot. It is very quick to deploy.

It is different when you analyze things and think in a more technical way, but even a non-technical person could install Windows from scratch with no issues.

What other advice do I have?

I am currently studying for Microsoft Administrator, but I don't have hands-on experience with Key Vault.

I would recommend Windows 10 to others who are interested in using it.

The Microsoft portfolio is quite large. It is difficult to think of what Microsoft hasn't already developed so far.

I would rate Windows 10 a seven out of ten.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

Stable, easy to install, and simple to use
Pros and Cons
  • "It's very simple to use."
  • "I would like to see the price reduced."

What is our primary use case?

We use Windows 10 for personal applications and for selections of networking for our clients.

What is most valuable?

It's very simple to use.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see the price reduced.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is a very stable product. We don't have any issues with the stability of this solution, now with the new patches that have been added.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

As Windows 10 is an operating system, there is no need to scale it.

We use Windows 10 for both technologies, personal and for clients.

We have approximately 2,000 users in our organization who are using this solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have not contacted technical support for Windows 10. We have not had the need to contact Windows technical support. We have not had any issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have always been using Windows. We have been upgrading as Windows evolves. We used Windows XP, then Windows created Windows 7, 8, and now 10.

How was the initial setup?

It was easy to install Windows 10. It took approximately 30 minutes to install.

We have a team of six administrators to maintain this solution.

What about the implementation team?

I completed the installation myself. I did not use the help of a consultant or integrator.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

They could provide better pricing for the licensing.

It's a one-time payment when you purchase the system.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend this solution to others.

I would rate Windows 10 an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to use, stable, but performance could improve
Pros and Cons
  • "Windows 10 is easier for people to learn than other alternative solutions. Microsoft has been doing a very good job recently with updates and integrations, such as the collaboration with Ubuntu."
  • "Windows 7 and Windows 10 are identical. However, Windows 10 is the slowest of all the variants. You need to use a solid-state drive if you are going to run Windows. Otherwise, once you install it, and give it some time it is going to slow your whole system down. Especially if you are using the internet, it is going to slow your system down fast. Additionally, it could be more secure as Windows 10 is more vulnerable to viruses."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is used as an operating system for running applications, such as email, spreadsheets, file sharing, and Oracle.

Additionally, we use Windows because it is a requirement of both applications and for many businesses. Windows is at the center of the application. We use it for the POS applications that run on Navision ERP from Microsoft.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 is easier for people to learn than other alternative solutions. Microsoft has been doing a very good job recently with updates and integrations, such as the collaboration with Ubuntu.

What needs improvement?

Windows 7 and Windows 10 are identical. However, Windows 10 is the slowest of all the variants. You need to use a solid-state drive if you are going to run Windows. Otherwise, once you install it, and give it some time it is going to slow your whole system down. Especially if you are using the internet, it is going to slow your system down fast. Additionally, it could be more secure as Windows 10 is more vulnerable to viruses.

This solution is very different from Linux where everything that you run is a process. Windows is not as fast as Linux, it is slower when you run processes, but Windows has something that attracts you to it and I think it is because of familiarity.

Microsoft monitors what you are doing. If they removed telemetry, Cortana, and other snooping tactics it would be a lot faster. The updates have to be watched because they can have some surprises related to the gathering of information.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for approximately five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have approximately 600 systems running Windows.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have not used support from Microsoft.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have previously used Windows 7, Windows Server, and Linux.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is easy and is very fast.

What about the implementation team?

We have a team of 20 that does the maintenance and deployment of this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a one-time license purchase for Windows 10.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have evaluated Windows 11.

What other advice do I have?

I would prefer Linux to Microsoft. However, Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 and they have made some great advancements. We will see in the near future the new features.

I rate Windows 10 a seven out of ten.

User friendly, easy to use, and straightforward installation
Pros and Cons
  • "Windows 10 is user-friendly and easy to use, these are the most valuable features."
  • "The security needs to improve."

What is our primary use case?

In my organization, we have developers using mostly Mac systems, for databases we use Linux systems, and everyone else is using Windows 10 systems. We are using Windows 10 as a general operating system.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 is user-friendly and easy to use, these are the most valuable features.

What needs improvement?

The security needs to improve.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Windows 10 for approximately nine years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of this solution depends on many variables, such as the type of usage. If you using it at a bare minimum you will not find any issues, but if you are installing multiple applications and running them at the same time you could run into some problems, such as system underperformance. However, it can depend on the hardware you have installed. You cannot specifically say how the operating system performing without having the other details about configuration and hardware, there are too many variables involved that might be unrelated to the operating system performance.

When comparing Windows 10 and Linux, Linux is more sophisticated when it comes to security and being stable, making it the ideal choice for many servers today.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have approximately 140 people using Windows 10 systems in my organization.

How are customer service and technical support?

We do not typically immediately reach out to contact Microsoft technical support. Most of the issues that we face can be solved online. There are quite a lot of articles and help material online where there are many people providing guidance or support for most issues that you encounter. This is not related to commercial technical support.

We have not experienced a lot of trouble with our desktop systems. We only contact technical support on the server level related to security.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were previously using Windows 7.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is straightforward. You can do it without knowing anything about the solution. However, the difficulty can also depend on the use cases. If someone wants to add features to it or maybe split the hardware's constraints it can get a little technical.

The full installation takes approximately 30 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

I did the implementation of the solution.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have evaluated Mac and Linux operating systems.

What other advice do I have?

In the market, we are limited to Microsoft, Linux, or Mac. Mac is only on Apple and all their propriety products and Linux is mostly for database servers. Microsoft is a market-leading company and provides a very user-friendly environment in Windows 10 and I would recommend this solution to others.

I rate Windows 10 a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A stable solution that has a good user interface and knowledgeable technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface is good."
  • "The on-premise product is costly."

What is our primary use case?

It is an operating system. I use it for browsing on Google. I use it for my work and personal reasons.

What is most valuable?

The user interface is good.

What needs improvement?

The on-premise product is costly. It would be good if the product’s price were reduced.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for a few years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the product’s scalability a seven out of ten. We have more than 100 users. We might increase the usage in the future.

How are customer service and support?

I have heard from my administrator that the support is knowledgeable. We can find everything in the documentation.

How was the initial setup?

The tool is easy to deploy. We need a separate license for Microsoft 365. The solution can be deployed on-premises and on the cloud.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment was done by a consultant.

What other advice do I have?

I will recommend the product to others. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

A stable and easy-to-deploy solution that is faster and much more advanced than other products
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is faster compared to other operating systems I have used."
  • "The product must reduce the number of updates."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for my daily work.

What is most valuable?

The solution is faster compared to other operating systems I have used. It is much more advanced than Windows 7 and Windows XP.

What needs improvement?

The product must reduce the number of updates. When a company uses an operating system, the employees must adapt it. It can release more versions instead of giving so many updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for the last four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability a nine out of ten. It has a lot of updates. We need to wait till the updates are completed.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am the only user.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Fedora. It's my favorite product. I switched to Windows 10 because of our company’s policy.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very straightforward. The deployment takes one hour. We just download the file, burn it into a disc, and boot the machine or the hard drive.

What about the implementation team?

I can deploy the product myself.

What other advice do I have?

I highly recommend the solution to others. Overall. I rate the product a nine out of ten.

A user-friendly interface with a variety of features and robust security but with significant update-related issues and forced system updates
Pros and Cons
  • "Among the most valuable aspects are the graphics tools and the integrated security features, with a notably effective firewall."
  • "Sometimes, upgrades may fail, leading to system crashes or other unexpected issues."

What is our primary use case?

We made the transition to Windows 11 for our daily use, and we've found it to be a more efficient and lighter operating system. It appears to offer improved security and flexibility.

What is most valuable?

Among the most valuable aspects are the graphics tools and the integrated security features, with a notably effective firewall. It's a stable system overall.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes, upgrades may fail, leading to system crashes or other unexpected issues. There have been instances of performance concerns and occasional hiccups when dealing with Huawei's customized version of Windows 10.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for four years.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate its support services eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It falls within the average price range; it's not particularly cheap or expensive.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate it seven out of ten.

Reliable and well-known, but licensing could be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "The usability is satisfactory."
  • "Windows explorer does not support two windows systems."

What is our primary use case?

While we use this solution, we also sell it.

We sell Windows, and we install it for our customers.

How has it helped my organization?

I don´t think that Windows 10 has improved our organization. In fact, Microsoft has reached a standard in nearly all branches to be the standard OS for the most common things. So nearly in every branch we sell PCs or sell maintenance we have to do it with Microsoft Software, especially with Microsoft OS.

What is most valuable?

It is well-known. I use it because everyone is using it.

The usability is satisfactory.

What needs improvement?

Windows explorer does not support two Windows systems. For example, in Mac OS, you can open tabs such as your windows browsers, and you can switch between devices or file systems. This can't be done in Windows Explorer. You have to open two separate windows and you can only do this when your monitor is large enough, or if you have more than one monitor.

The licensing should be more flexible.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 since it was released.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Windows 10 is now nearly also over eight years old. One of the main topics that help this OS to be so popular is, that most software that is written on this planet is working with, that nearly every device that has a USB connection could be recognized by your computer. Windows 10 is stable and has good scalability.

How are customer service and support?

We have not reached out to technical support. If Windows has a problem, we can usually fix it ourselves. We also rely on Google for assistance.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Negative

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In private, I use Mac OS, which I prefer to Windows 10.

I have used several operating systems, as well as Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Planner.

How was the initial setup?

I do not install this solution, my technical colleagues install it.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented the solution in-house.

What was our ROI?

As I mentioned above, Microsoft doesn´t give resellers the opportunity to gain real money with the product itself. Microsoft wants the partners to build themselves some solutions around their ecosystem. But Microsoft did not understand, that most resellers are not inevitably software programmers or designers. Most of the resellers are solution providers in a maybe "older" category of service.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing fees could be more flexible.

Some of the issues we're having are when your company wants a license or when we don't know if that license can be merged. It is extremely difficult for Microsoft as a company because Microsoft is based in the United States and we live in Germany. We also have other options available here. In this regard, Microsoft is very rigid and unforgiving.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

On the OS side, you have no choice. You are heavily connected to the facto standard from Microsoft. Also in the matter of email client systems, if you use an exchange, you can't use other email client systems with the same comfort. The same when it comes to office programs.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Windows 10 a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
