I'm an HRIS specialist in managing the portfolio of HR Related IT systems, projects, and changes within the corporate center area. I currently work for a manufacturing company with 10,000+ employees.
Do the big three, Workday, Oracle Cloud, and SuccessFactors, allow us to easily maintain the products ourselves, without developer skills, extensive training, and in-depth knowledge?
Thanks! I appreciate the help.
I implemented Workday in 2024 and without having previous Workday experience, it was very challenging. I spent most of 2025 putting out fires and cleaning up the business processes that came with launch express. I'm focusing 2026 on optimization and getting a return on our investment. I will say Workday will be a good HRIS for a company with over 10,000 employees. My best advice is not to go with launch express and do it right from the beginning rather than trying to save money. Workday can be very complicated and complex. We had to hire a consultant to help us with major issues that we couldn't figure out ourselves. Commit is an amazing resource. They have experts in every module. We did choose to use other vendors for global payroll (Deel), Greenhouse for recruiting and Lattice for performance and goals. I had tons of HIRS experience (over 20 years) with a variety of other providers. I thought how hard could it be? Well, it is pretty hard. You will need specialists in configuration and integrations to help, or you could have a nightmare on your hands. That is where Commit came in very helpfully. I highly recommend having all stakeholders in the meetings before a decision is made or contract signed. We had the entire HR team and finance & accounting team in all the meetings. We also hired a contractor as our Workday project manager to keep things on schedule because we all wear many hats and don't have an extra 20-30 hours per week to devote to managing the project while also gathering data and conducting testing. I hope this is helpful to you! Good luck!
