What is our primary use case?
The main use cases for
QuickBooks currently involve applying taxes on orders, estimated and any kind of exemption that is applying on the orders. Our team is doing an API call with our server, and the response they are getting depends on what the requirement is and what rule they have applied on it.
I did not get a chance to utilize QuickBooks income tracking feature.
What is most valuable?
The main benefits I have seen from QuickBooks are that it helps our partners do their business impactfully with the help of QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks is a superior tool among all the ERPs. It is the most user-friendly platform where users can interact and interface with their team members through a chat option. Team members can interact, raise queries, and if someone is selling a product to customers, they can also raise queries.
What needs improvement?
Regarding improvements or enhancements in QuickBooks, there is limited customization that QuickBooks Online supports regarding reports. It's too rigid for complex financial analysis. Data visualization needs improvement, particularly in the dashboard and live monitoring tools. Multi-entity and multi-currency reporting can be cumbersome without a third-party tool. Users experience syncing errors or duplicate transactions with bank feed accuracy. Workflow automation in QuickBooks Online could expand beyond rules for transactions, such as automation approval and recurring journal entries; these are opportunities for improvement.
For how long have I used the solution?
I am currently working with
Avalara Technologies Private Limited, and we have our integrated partner QuickBooks. We provide API services to QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online and also extractor for QuickBooks.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Regarding stability, I have seen many crashes in QuickBooks Online with our integration services recently, particularly from September to November 2024. There were delay and latency issues, but now they're fixed. The software can show some issues at times, but I'm satisfied with how they resolve these issues with their partners.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I did not have a chance to explore much more of QuickBooks Desktop, but I have worked with it. QuickBooks Desktop is also effective, but the latest version, which is 2024 Enterprise, is not as consumer effective compared to 2023 Enterprise. Their functionality is much better, but vendors such as Right Network are not very satisfied with the services QuickBooks Desktop has provided. Therefore, we have suggested all our customers switch to QuickBooks Online because it is on the cloud.
How are customer service and support?
We are not authorized to reach out directly to Intuit regarding QuickBooks. We have a separate partner team in our organization that will reach out to QuickBooks partner support, and then they can collaborate and explain the issue. Sometimes it's our fault, and sometimes it's their fault, but they reply to our queries very quickly, and their team is very good. The help center articles and release notes are always up to date. I'm satisfied with QuickBooks support so far.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
I find QuickBooks straightforward and super easy, but because everyone is moving towards AI or machine learning, sometimes customers have to wait for the onboarding process or need to reach out to the implementation engineer to get it set up quickly. They are reachable, but if AI could be implemented in QuickBooks, it would allow users to buy the product and implement it on their own, guiding them through the process. That would greatly enhance the customer experience. Overall, I am satisfied with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing, setup cost, and licensing cost have different levels, including simple, basic, essential, plus, enterprise, or advanced. The advanced rate is $275 per month.
I find it cost-effective in some phases, but there are ERPs that are much cheaper. However, if your business has fairly simple bookkeeping, invoices, and managing expenses, then QuickBooks Online offers significant value, including cloud access, bank feed, built-in reports, and integrations. It's cost-effective, but not significantly more compared to other ERPs.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Regarding key differences, both pros and cons of QuickBooks in comparison to other competitors in the market, competitors such as NetSuite, Oracle NetSuite Basic, OneWorld, SuiteTax,
Salesforce Sales Cloud,
Salesforce Commerce, or
Salesforce CPQ have pricing that is much higher, but they provide full flexibility to do anything, with fully customized
ERP systems.
What other advice do I have?
I did not get a chance to utilize the reports or the reporting capabilities in QuickBooks. The tool and
ERP system are good. I have been in technical support for the last 10 years. I rate QuickBooks 8 out of 10.
