What is most valuable?
The tool helps automate system recovery. The solution is most useful in scenarios involving restoration to a different environment. For instance, when migrating from a physical server to a virtual one, the tool facilitates conversion.
The disk imaging feature with Veritas System Recovery could potentially enhance our data protection strategy. However, currently, it's not widely adopted, especially for servers, due to factors such as pricing and licensing. While it could benefit desktop systems, none of our customers have opted for it.
What needs improvement?
The tool's deployment could be easier. The deployment itself isn't the issue; rather, the problem lies in configuring policies and testing everything before it's ready. We invest a significant amount of time in preparing for various scenarios. However, we often encounter situations where changes have occurred since our initial preparations. This can render the automation less valuable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Veritas System Recovery's scalability is not an issue.
How are customer service and support?
It's worth noting that Veritas has different support teams for different products, and the level of support can vary significantly between them. It used to be one of the best. Unfortunately, in recent years, we've observed a decline in the overall support quality across all Veritas products.
"In the past, as partners, we could easily reach higher-level technicians to solve issues quickly. But now, all cases start with level one support, which is slower. This change hasn't improved support quality.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
I rate the product's ease of deployment a five out of ten.
What other advice do I have?
The tool is a last resort. We primarily focus on preventing situations where its use becomes necessary. While we sell and test this tool, our customers don't frequently need to use it because it prevents such scenarios from occurring in the first place.
The feature most relied upon for our NetBackup customers differs. Generally, customers prefer having manual control over the recovery process rather than relying solely on automated solutions. None of our customers currently opt for the automated solution because they prefer maintaining control over the process.
I would recommend Veritas System Recovery to others. Overall, I would rate it an eight out of ten.
