BMC TrueSight Orchestration Reviews

We are using it for orchestration purposes. While orchestration, what I need is that if you want to automate an end-to-end process, it may process lots of automation. For orchestration, we perform a server solution from platforms. We perform the post-provision activities by using orchestration, like creating DNS, registering to a server, and installing to agents, which are three good steps inside an orchestration flow.

It has some building features that you can connect with other environments. So some built-in features like connections and more actions are some of its valuable features.

In BMC TrueSight Orchestration, login is just text-based, so it's really hard to find the problem. We cannot see the ongoing running jobs or interfere with them on an interface. So it's unavailable. There are some restrictions about the permissions, especially the level of the permissions, even though there is not very much there. It's a little bit hard to use clients' development tools, so the user experience may be improved. There is room for improvement for the local team.

I use BMC TrueSight Orchestration. I am a customer of the solution.

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Regarding scalability, the architecture does not allow you to add additional servers just able to use two application servers, so it's not scalable. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a five out of ten.

Around a thousand people in my organization use the solution.

The initial setup is easy. The deployment was done in an hour.

Regarding pricing, it comes with the package when you buy the server automation. But it's made depending on some agreements for companies, of which I don't know the clause.

I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.

BMC TrueSight is majorly used for database backup and auto remediation for the networks. It is also used for server provisioning. 

We currently operate in a banking domain. It helps to take daily backups of database. The BMC TrueSight helps in following the Reserve Bank guidelines and scheduling the back up as necessary. The solution creates a back-up and re-evaluates all the necessary information, alarming us in case there is a set of missing information. In case the backup fails, it also has an error handling mechanism is present, sending real-time messages and alerts in the form of emails to responsible teams.

We have minimized the L1 and L2 activities, currently allowing us to only deal with L3 activities. If there are any errors in terms of backup, the incident is directly raised to Level 3. This automation has helped us save about 5 million pounds. It is also capable of no-manual intervention, where onboarding can be done without any manual assistance. The GUI offered by this solution is currently not available in the market. Whenever the details of customers are entered in the GUI, the process is carried out smoothly in the background without any issues.

The automation helps in payment transactions through BHIM app. The BMC helps in smooth clearance of all payments without using MasterCard or Visa. The solution is ready to use, and there is no need for customization or resources. We can complete integration over cloud and on-premise, and even using mainframes. The automation are secure through BMC TrueSight Orchestration.

We are aiming for AI automation and look for support from BMC. The features are currently missing but we are hoping for some upgrade in this matter.

I have experience using BMC TrueSight Orchestration for 15 years.

It is very stable and we have optimization rate of 99.9%. There are no glitches but it depends on the Internet service provider too.

It is scalable up to the mark. The cloud version has limitless scalability, allowing the successful expansion of one million devices. The on-premise solution is always recommended to have horizontal scaling.  

It is straightforward process with proper instructions. The cloud version needs no manual assistance and can be easily integrated within the setup. The only requirement for cloud-based version is having a connection with mainframe.  

We need almost 40-50 managers for the maintenance.

The ROI is very satisfactory. We are saving almost 1.5k-1.2k behind each customer. 

Licensing is available in different ways and depends on data being consumed by users and nodes being operated. 

I would rate it 9.5 out of 10.

There are different types of client needs. I have seen the clients being happy with this solution. BMC offers flexibility based on different needs of the solution, providing the options of adding or removing features as per convenience.

We use the solution to read incoming emails or tickets in real-time. We can develop rules based on the description of the tickets. For example, if a server is down and the incident comes to the tool as a ticket, the tool will get the server name and the affected service name, connect the server from the back end and resolve the issue.

The product has a very good triggering mechanism. It also provides schedule-based triggers.

The solution is not user-friendly. The solution’s UI could be better.

The product should provide a real-time dashboard or report about the automation.

I have been using the solution for two years.

The product is pretty stable.

The solution is scalable enough. We can scale the solution based on the workload. I rate the scalability a nine out of ten.

When we face issues, we raise tickets to the support team, and they generally revert immediately within a day or a couple of hours.

The solution has a customer blog where a lot of other developers are available to solve our queries. If an organization is using BMC Remedy, it should also buy BMC TrueSight Orchestration. Overall, I rate the product a seven out of ten.

BMC TrueSight Orchestration does a lot of automation, so we are mainly using it for service fulfillment.

The best feature of BMC TrueSight Orchestration is the number of integrated mechanisms it provides. This provides a lot of flexibility when it comes to writing automation workflows.

BMC TrueSight Orchestration could improve by providing some visibility on how the workflows are progressing. We would like to have some kind of dashboard that would show the health of our workflows.

I have been using BMC TrueSight Orchestration for eight years.

The solution is stable.

BMC TrueSight Orchestration is a scalable product.

Overall, I would rate BMC's technical support a five out of five, they are good.

The initial setup of BMC TrueSight Orchestration is easy. Depending on the use case and the workflows that need to be developed, deployment can take anywhere from one to two weeks.

There are many other tools on the market, however, there is a huge cost saving with BMC TrueSight. 

If someone wanted to deploy BMC TrueSight Orchestration into their organization, I would recommend that they define their use case first to identify their integration points. Then they should decide on the technology that they wanted to use, then develop.

Overall, I would rate this product a nine out of ten. 

We use the solution for the compliance and integration of the operating systems for CMDB, Discovery, or Control-M. The use case is for deploying the software on the system and provisioning the operating system in the target. There are two methods. We can provision the target machine with the template or configure it with an ISO image.

We can implement compliance standards with the solution. You can also do patching so that the environment is compliant and secure from external threats and hacking. We can provision multiple systems with the help of predefined templates that the organization has forwarded us. The solution’s users can also integrate multiple products which can be either BMC or non-BMC. There are numerous possibilities that can be done with server automation.

The solution should move to the cloud. Every application from the BMC is on the container and moving to the cloud. There is also a number of limitations for the smart reporting feature of the TrueSight server which is not working in sync. We did not get any satisfactory reply from BMC on that note. We are not able to do the real-time sync between HSA and non-HSA service reporting tools and the actual application tools.

I would like to see better integration with both BMC and non-BMC applications. We need a new data set like TrueSight Orchestration. We need a prebuilt connector through which we can add data through TSSA.

I have been using the solution for six years.

I can give you a 100 percent guarantee TrueSight Orchestration is a stable product.

The solution can be scaled as per customer requirements. We can scale the operations of the application environment or add additional applications to manage productivity.

I would rate the support a seven and a half out of ten. The response gets delayed sometimes. We have contacted BMC’s support several times when we weren’t sure about the use cases or encountered some unknown elements.

The initial setup of the tool is easy. However, users need initial training to use the solution.

I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. It is a stable solution and integrates with other applications. You can also pull up data that you want to process from other applications. It connects to the latest technology with cloud applications. This helps you to collaborate and work.

My current company has found BMC a strong solution for their requirements. They are implementing compliance as well as vulnerability management with the help of the tool. The product has features like process automation, remediation as well as quality management. My organization has found the tool to be an efficient solution for their problems.

I would definitely recommend the tool for use cases like compliance and patching for vulnerability management. This solution helps to keep your environment safe and compliant as per your automation policy.

We use BMC Truesight for orchestration among multiple third-party and BMC products. We use TrueSight to integrate and perform the use cases when required. For example, we might use BMC Remedy or ServiceNow as our ticketing system or ITSM.

The company wants to integrate products with TrueSight Orchestration to manage tickets and changes once they're raised. We also have TrueSight server automation for patching and provisioning or executing scripts and installing applications. We use TrueSight to perform all these things. 

We can use TrueSight to automate the Ansible work playbooks with Ansible Tower integration. When we get a request from ServiceNow, it goes to TrueSight and triggers the associated playbook. 

The best thing about TrueSight is the user interface, which is intuitive and easy to use. It supports accessibility and exporting, so we can output to the format we require. We can use TrueSight to integrate nearly any other product. I can't think of another product that can match this functionality. We also have Microsoft Orchestrator, but it can't match BMC TrueSight Orchestration.

It would be helpful if TrueSight could log errors in a better format. I would also like to see more connector support. Let's say I have a third-party vendor that I need to integrate with Ansible. It would be helpful if BMC announced a specific connector for that. I've encountered situations where I need to work with scripts or find another way to integrate a particular product with TrueSight Orchestration. BMC already supports many products. For example, we have a connector for Ansible, but I think it needs to be improved some. 

I have used BMC TrueSight for nearly seven years.

TrueSight is stable. 

TrueSight is scalable.

I rate BMC support eight out of 10. I've only contacted BMC a couple of times for Orchestration, but I've contacted them multiple times about other BMC products. In the past, we raised some tickets with BMC customer support for issues with the LAP component. Once, we also needed help dealing with a bug we identified while integrating with ServiceNow.

Setting up TrueSight is easy if you follow the steps in BMC's documentation. It's easy to apply if you understand the architecture. You may run into some challenges when integrating non-BMC products, so you need to gather all the necessary information. Once you have that,  it's easy to implement and easy to work with TrueSight Orchestration.

I rate BMC TrueSight Orchestration nine out of 10. It supports most vendors. If you are considering TrueSight, it's crucial to understand your requirements. I recommend TrueSight Orchestration. It's one of the best orchestration tools in the market. 

We use this solution as an orchestration tool. This allows our customers to automate basic, routine tasks, such as resetting passwords or creating new accounts.

The automation function of this solution removes the need for system administration staff to spend their time on simple tasks, freeing them up to deal with more complex matters.

We particularly like the integration functionality of this solution. This product is open API, which means that it can be integrated with any solution from any other brand.

At present this solution is only available to be hosted on-premises, which can cause network issues when integration with cloud-based software is attempted.

We have been working with this solution for three years.

We have found this to be a stable solution during our time working with it.

This is a scalable solution, dependent on the hardware capacity that is available.

We have found the technical support team for this solution to be knowledgeable and helpful whenever we have contacted them.

The initial setup of this solution isn't hard, but it is time consuming and there is a lot of network preparation that needs to be carried out up-front.

We would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

We have some very big data centers. We use BMC TrueSight Orchestration to operate automation for our data center solutions. For example, we use it with Server Automation — we integrated those products. We perform solo pitching and monitor compliance checks.

We plan to increase our usage of this solution. We hope to have more than 10,000 agents in the near future. Within six month's time, we plan to increase the solution with a larger environment.

We have an operating team that manages and automates the data centers using this solution. BMC TrueSight Orchestration has made things much easier for them. 

I find the provisioning to be the most valuable. This is valuable to us as we have installed this solution on all of our servers. At the provisioning sites, we are installing software that all of our data centers require — it makes our lives easy.

BMC TrueSight Orchestration is difficult to understand. It's not very user-friendly.

TrueSight does not support containerized environments. They are using the classical ITM environment, but it's hard to automate Kubernetes and some other container-like systems with this solution.

We encountered a few bugs initially, but that's to be expected.

The technical support is quite responsive. 

We migrated from CA Automic to BMC TrueSight. We found a lot of flaws with the Roseburg automation tools.

The main reason we stopped using CA Automic was because of the cost of the product — it was too expensive. Also, TrueSight offers total automation. 

The initial setup is very easy. It's not complex at all.

We deployed it ourselves with one or two people. Installation took us about one day, but the whole project with all elements combined took us about three months — including customization. It really depends on how big your company is. 

This solution requires some maintenance. Our team is responsible for the application and configuration.

Licensing is per lot, or per agent — one agent is one license. I believe it's a yearly subscription. We haven't encountered any hidden costs.

You need to understand your environment and what you wish to automate. Make sure to perform a good analysis of the processes you wish to automate and the overall architecture of the solution. Without good planning, there will be trouble.

For server automation, you can run a Python script if Python is installed in the OS — I prefer to use Python 6.6 inside this solution.

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give BMC TrueSight Orchestration a rating of eight.

The primary use case of this solution is to monitor our server, internet, and networking.

I am currently looking for another solution.

The architecture of this solution needs improvement, it is very complicated. It creates a lot of problems in our environment. Most of the time I am trying to find and solve the problem.

I haven't been monitoring. I was told that because I am using advanced monitoring and alarm monitoring, it is causing a problem. However, it is my environment and I cannot change it.

I am now looking for better monitoring.

This solution has a lot of bugs. It is not stable, but again, our environment is very complicated.

This solution is scalable.

We have not contacted the Technical support directly. Instead, we have a company in Isreal for support.

Previously I was using IBM Fiberlink. I switched because of the price of Fiberlink.

The initial setup is straightforward.

We did not use a vendor or integrator to implement this solution, we did it ourselves.

We looked at other solutions but focused on Fiberlink and BMC Truesight Orchestration.

In my opinion, no one company can give you all of the abilities to monitor your environment when it is complicated.

It is better to look for a solution that suits the needs of your environment. You may even need more than one solution to do better monitoring.
