What is CA CEM [EOL]?

CA Customer Experience Manager (CA CEM) is a product within the Application Performance Management solution that measures web application performance for each individual customer. CA CEM measures the performance and quality of customer transactions, identifies defects and variance, and quantifies the impact on customers and the business. CA CEM lets you monitor real user activities -- including login, account update, or purchase transactions -- at the business service level. By proactively detecting trends in degraded customer transaction response times and providing various actionable reports, CA CEM lets you act before problems occur or SLAs are out of compliance. It provides a powerful network analysis both with individual transactions and general network performance. We've had lots of hardware issues with the MPMs.

What is most valuable?



It provides a powerful network analysis both with individual transactions and general network performance.



How has it helped my organization?



We've found that it really helps managers in measuring application SLAs and viewing historical performance data.



What needs improvement?



We've had lots of hardware issues with the MPMs. It's difficult to segregate the metrics coming from the integration.



For how long have I used the solution?



I've used it for 18 months.



What was my experience with deployment of the solution?



We haven't had issues with the deployment.



What do I think about the stability of the solution?



Some appliances which supply data to CEM have never been fully functional.



What do I think about the scalability of the solution?



We've had no issues scaling it for our needs.



How are customer service and technical support?



In our experience, technical support has been slow. We’ve been plagued with hardware issues, which have been on-going for a long time and which is going through CA to a separate partner, who then needs to deal with another local partner company for hardware.



Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?



The company has used different solutions, but I haven’t personally.



How was the initial setup?



The initial setup is complex. It’s a large suite of products that need to fit into a large, complex organization.



What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?



This is not something I deal with, but off-hand comments seem to indicate that it is more expensive than expected.



Which other solutions did I evaluate?



Dynatrace and a few others were looked at by my team. I wasn’t involved in the evaluation however.
