Good deduplication, easy to scale, and has good support
iland Secure Cloud Backup is very scalable. If you ask them for more space, they provide you with the pricing, and they make the adjustments on their end. We just recently went from 10 TB to 15 TB and they also do a great job of deduplication, because we were only using 10 TB, even though our SAN is 20TB, we were using 11 TB of it and we have some physical servers that were we are backing up.

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have not identified any issues with this solution and we are very happy with it."
"The service itself wasn't bad."
"iland is excellent as far as the interface."
"The service itself wasn't bad."
"Their technical support is very good; I have contacted them a couple of times and I have never had a bad experience with them, and they are one of the better companies as far as their support."
"They have just implemented a Backup and Restore portal that we think is very good."
"I love the application, and it has become essential in my work."
"HPE Zerto Software has positively impacted our RTOs and RPOs by improving our recovery objectives and ensuring data is always available."
"The feature I appreciate the most about HPE Zerto Software is its fantastic replication and advanced problem-solving capabilities."
"Other solutions would take an entire workday to recover our core infrastructure, and with Zerto we are done within an hour for all our major systems."
"The speed of recovery with Zerto versus other disaster recovery solutions is vastly better."
"Compared to the previous DR replication solution, Zerto has decreased both RPO and RTO significantly."
"Its ease of use and the ability to have a reliable solution for disaster recovery has become invaluable to us."
"Before Zerto, it would take us four days to recover. Now, we're looking at a couple of hours."

Cons

"I would like to see a better method of backing up Exchange in the cloud."
"They don't support a more current version of VMware."
"This product did not help our organization."
"I would like to see a better method of backing up Exchange in the cloud."
"They don't support a more current version of VMware."
"The vendor needs to changes billing to work like every other business and stop charging people if they stop using your service."
"The backup solution needs to be improved. From our perspective, Veeam and Zerto were competing products. They both do very unique things that they're very good at. For instance, Veeam can do replication well. However, it's really a backup product."
"My only business complaint is the cost of the solution."
"The full site recovery is not up to SRM standards."
"The backup functions are in need of improvement."
"My only suggestion for how HPE Zerto Software could be improved would be to integrate with other virtualization platforms, as many organizations are moving off of VMware, so having options there would be beneficial."
"We do have some sites that are very low-bandwidth sites. Zerto is able to set throttling in the solution, but the throttling is set at a site-wide level. In those instances that have very low bandwidth, I can't reduce the throttling on that site. It would be nice if there were a way to control the throttling by the protection group for a specific workload."
"Analytics has a 90-day window, where it keeps data. It would be nice to have on-prem storage instead of cloud storage for that so we can keep the data for longer. Unless you discover the problem within three months, you don't know that you need the data. Then, it is gone by the time you realize there is an issue."
"I hope that in the future the product will offer integrated encryption functionalities, so that the VPN setup between protected and protection site can become optional."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Billing practices for iLand are monthly. If you are a business and would like a yearly rate, good luck."
"The licensing costs are approximately $12,000 annually."
"iland is affordable."
"As far as I know, the pricing is around $1,000 per VM, but Zerto is changing the pricing model to more of an enterprise-class license. I don't know if there are any additional costs or fees."
"All of my customers are happy with how this product works and they like it, but unfortunately, in the market that I represent, Zerto is expensive when compared with the competition."
"While conducting our proof of concept, I compared prices with just one other vendor. At the time, the price for Zerto was more favorable."
"I do not have anything to compare it to. It is expensive, but I am not going to squabble about the price when I bring the system up in a disaster. It is what it is."
"The solution is very cost-effective and very easy to set-up but does not compromise on features."
"The pricing is very reasonable."
"Pricing depends on your future growth. Start small and then scale up."
"It is not cheap, but it is reasonable for what it is offering. It gives me the peace of mind that my data is protected. It is worth the cost."
