Reliable bot management with valuable traffic analytics and good delivery configuration
We are using Akamai Ion primarily for CDN services. It is more about delivery configuration, and for security, we use Akamai WAF security controls and Botman Akamai Ion helps protect us from DOS, SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and scraping tools. Real-time analytics are very helpful for…

Improvements are needed to address the issue of machines becoming unregistered, ensuring stability for end users. Troubleshooting with Citrix support can be challenging, so clearer diagnostics would be beneficial. As for global server load balancing, it works well on-premises, depending on user volume and service stability. Overall, it's satisfactory for us.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Akamai is easy to use and very effective."
"The most valuable feature is bot management."
"When our primary link goes down I can still get to my Cisco devices and the NetScaler devices on-prem because of the SDN solution. If the internet connection at one of the branches goes down, we can still route them, they still get internet based on the SDN solution through one of the other sites. They can carry on working."
"We use the product for load balancing and as a reverse proxy solution."
"The most valuable features are the VDA Delivery, Gateway Fort, and the load balancing."
"Content Switching provides flexibility for routing traffic as desired to designated real servers. It also provides good geo capabilities through its GSLB feature."
"This solution increases the backend network service performance, which is one of the things that we like the most."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is its load balancing."
"The flexibility in configuration options is impressive."
"It is the best product out there."

Cons

"Log management should display data for more than two months."
"The product must provide more flexibility."
"I would like to see them make it easier to do some of the more complex things. For example, a web re-direct requires two pieces to it. You have two ports and when people want to go to a web page, they just type in the webpage that on the backend it will redirect them to a secure link. The initial setup of that is cumbersome because you have to do it twice. There are things that can be replicated. The IP address, for example, is the same. This change would go a long way. Don't make me do it twice and don't make me have to read tons of documentation to figure out how to do it. Ease of configuration for some of the more complex processes would be a good improvement."
"Integration with other third party providers and third party applications could be better because it can be a bit complex at present."
"Overall the price of Citrix ADC could be more competitive."
"The setup was not simple."
"Technical support could be improved."
"An area for improvement in Citrix Web App and API Protection is for it to give real-time notifications and alerts. It would be practical if the solution warns you if there's an attack or if the load or traffic volume increases or decreases. An additional feature I'd like to see in Citrix Web App and API Protection is a prediction or artificial intelligence on what is happening, for example, attacks."
"They can improve the scalability and the multi-tenancy feature. We recently tried to configure an authentication, and we ran into some issues while using the web-based GUI. It was very slow when you log in with your credentials in the web-based GUI. Each time we clicked on the menu, it tried to do the authentication. It works properly in the console."
"Development team's response time could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is expensive."
"We have a yearly licencing fee, and there are no additional costs."
"We have been evaluating F5, Citrix, and other ADC products. Citrix is the most expense of all of them."
"The licensing costs for this solution vary depending on which model is being used."
"After deployment, Citrix Netscaler shifted to a subscription-based license scheme for support, which is slightly more expensive."
"Ninety day free trial makes it easy to try out this solution."
"I give the price of the solution a seven out of ten."
"Citrix ADC could improve the price and make it less expensive, other competitors have a better prices. This would allow Citrix ADC to keep dominating the market."
"This product is more expensive than some of the competitors."
