Automatic installation for complex deployments and environments, with good workflow support
I like that really complex deployments are possible with it. It's very good. You have everything you need. You can design your workflows for your needs. You can do so much more, it's not just an automatic installation tool. It's a real deployment tool. I can do the complete deployment with everything that is possible.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The event monitor is very good. You can monitor when the file is created so you can pick up the file once it's done."
"The IT process automation is the most valuable aspect of this solution."
"It is a very stable solution and we can rely on pressing a button to perform a full-stack automatic installation that reliably finishes in eight hours instead of a problematic three-week manual installation."
"At the end of the day, at the end of the year, CA offered the best package overall, and that wasn't just from a product standpoint but also a support standpoint."
"It provides a wonderful user interface which is easy to use."
"We have saved on our time costs and have seen more quality."
"In first pilot run, we achieved five times faster deployment without human work."
"The agents are one of the solution's most valuable features, and I like agents for file transfers so you can transfer the files from agent to agent on the different platforms."
"It has provided a platform for traceability across the whole release cycle for more than 700 diverse applications."
"Getting the deployments automated adds a lot of value."
"ROI is difficult to explain but it's provided huge savings."
"By standardizing the automated deployment application process, reducing the amount of errors due to manual steps and by providing visibility into the release cycles of various teams/applications, we've improved our global efficiency by at least 25% and still counting, since we've only used the product for a short period of time."
"This product is excellent for deploying components and running processes related to deployments."
"It is very easy to make a software release. It used to take us at least a couple of hours to make a release, now we went to production with a new one last night. This new release took me five minutes."
"With the usage of UrbanCode Release, we are able to save on efforts required to create a detailed, accurate implementation plan, and as it has direct connectivity with UrbanCode Deploy, we can schedule automatic deployments and hence save on time and cost of resources, so the overall release efficiency has improved multifold."
"Coming from where we were and getting to where we are was just never could have been done without uDeploy and it's just incredibly powerful for us."

Cons

"Stability-wise I think it still needs to be improved; performance-wise. It crashes from time to time."
"One of the biggest features I've been asked by my team to put in there is opening more scripting languages to be part of the platform. There is a little bit of a learning curve in learning how to code some of the workflows in Automic at this time. If widely used languages like Perl and Python were integrated, on top of what's already there, the proprietary language, it would make it easier to on-board new resources."
"One of the biggest features I've been asked by my team to put in there is opening more scripting languages to be part of the platform."
"At the moment, the version that we are using (version 12.0), the environment is complex with multiple installations. Therefore, the monitoring is not scalable, but this should be improved in 12.1 and 12.2."
"It would be very beneficial for us to see integrations into cloud environments, especially into the Google Cloud environment because we are heading towards cloud."
"If you have a technical problem and need development of the tool, the support team is terrible, because they cannot help with the technical details."
"File transfer is not very efficient. It takes a bit longer than some other methods and when you send the file from one platform to another, especially from the mainframe, the results consumption is quite high compared to other methods."
"GUI for mobile phones: Availability to approve and start deployment through mobile phones."
"There have been a lot of broken stoppages in uDeploy 6.1.2, particularly in the upgrade."
"Upgrading an existing Urbancode Deploy server is unfortunately quite tricky, as many of the migration scripts for the database need patching and fixes based on the specific customer install."
"This solution could be made more flexible with respect to deploying databases."
"In our implementation, we created 16 PMR for this product. 15 of them were solved."
"Sometimes the tool gets hung while running a plan."
"I think that the IBM support team needs to be more proactive in their responses to PMR tickets raised by customers."
"Technical support is bad."
"Licensing structure - pay per machine deployed to."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We increased our quality and reduced our time costs."
"Customers often complain about the price."
"I can save time and money more quickly."
"If you have a fixed contract, it has limits to spreading out. If you have a flexible enterprise license contract, then you have a lot of scalability for this tool."
"Considering COVID-19, the price is too high."
"The cost of the solution is high but it offers great ROI."
"The licensing fees for this solution are based on the number of servers that are being deployed and the number of agents that you have."
