Automatic installation for complex deployments and environments, with good workflow support
I like that really complex deployments are possible with it. It's very good. You have everything you need. You can design your workflows for your needs. You can do so much more, it's not just an automatic installation tool. It's a real deployment tool. I can do the complete deployment with everything that is possible.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the ability to see which problems have been resolved from deployment."
"I think on a day-to-day basis, it has increased the capacity to deploy."
"The measurement and the display functions make it easy to report all the statuses up to management, and it has helped our customers with their time, costs, and resources."
"I think on a day-to-day basis, it has increased the capacity to deploy. We don't have to wait for someone to do something."
"It gives us good feedback on visualizations and on how our processes have progressed."
"You can automate everything you want."
"It is an umbrella system that allows us to integrate many different systems into our heterogeneous environment."
"Gives people insight into what's happening during the deployment."
"The stability is good. I haven't experienced any issues."
"For DevOps, this tool is one of the best with all its integration capabilities for repositories and various systems."
"There are several most valuable features for us: Automation of deployment processes for all our projects, it's user-friendly enough for our development team to access and use on a daily basis, and the lead approval process is one of the unique features in it that can't be found in any other automation tool."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to create a deployment process visually and to see that process executing in real time, step by step, with access to log files and with a click of a button."
"Coming from where we were and getting to where we are was just never could have been done without uDeploy and it's just incredibly powerful for us."
"It was very easy to install and configure IBM UrbanCode Deploy and remotely deploy its agents."
"Customer Service: Perfect. IBM has one of the best customer services."
"The most valuable feature is the snapshot functionality, which allows us to access previous versions of the artifacts."

Cons

"The dashboard should allow you to see the current state of packages in each environment, not only on an individual application basis, but across the entire application platform."
"It would be very beneficial for us to see integrations into cloud environments, especially into the Google Cloud environment because we are heading towards cloud."
"If you have a technical problem and need development of the tool, the support team is terrible, because they cannot help with the technical details."
"There are some bugs. For example, during the design of a workflow, important information is lost, it vanishes."
"We're a WebSphere shop so I would like to see more support for WebSphere, only because it's the platform that they seem to want to use the most."
"Not a perfect ten because the user interface is brand new and it needs improvement."
"File transfer is not very efficient. It takes a bit longer than some other methods and when you send the file from one platform to another, especially from the mainframe, the results consumption is quite high compared to other methods."
"One of the biggest features I've been asked by my team to put in there is opening more scripting languages to be part of the platform."
"Technical support is bad."
"Upgrading an existing Urbancode Deploy server is unfortunately quite tricky, as many of the migration scripts for the database need patching and fixes based on the specific customer install."
"The scalability of this application needs improvement. Changes and variations in the application become bottlenecks as they need to be more seamless and comfortable."
"The resource tree is pretty bulky and slow; making a change to the resource tree manually is pretty difficult when size increases."
"Lack of technical expertise available in the market that forces us to rely solely on IBM Professional Services."
"There are also many bugs in UrbanCode Deploy."
"The technical support of the solution could definitely be improved as PMRs take a long to resolve."
"The interface allows access in a number of ways but that can be confusing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you have a fixed contract, it has limits to spreading out. If you have a flexible enterprise license contract, then you have a lot of scalability for this tool."
"I can save time and money more quickly."
"Customers often complain about the price."
"We increased our quality and reduced our time costs."
"The licensing fees for this solution are based on the number of servers that are being deployed and the number of agents that you have."
"The cost of the solution is high but it offers great ROI."
"Considering COVID-19, the price is too high."
