Automatic installation for complex deployments and environments, with good workflow support
I like that really complex deployments are possible with it. It's very good. You have everything you need. You can design your workflows for your needs. You can do so much more, it's not just an automatic installation tool. It's a real deployment tool. I can do the complete deployment with everything that is possible.

Real-time monitoring and seamless integration enhance deployment efficiency
The main disadvantage I see is the limited awareness of Nolio Release Automation in other organizations. It is a very nice tool, but its market presence is limited. I heard from the organization that the licensing cost was somewhat expensive. Perhaps focusing on marketing efforts would be beneficial. It is a really nice tool, and I am unsure why many organizations are not using Nolio Release Automation. It is one of the greatest tools for continuous deployment, yet its popularity remains limited. Some organizations are not aware of its existence. This might be an area worth researching and potentially developing new marketing strategies.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think on a day-to-day basis, it has increased the capacity to deploy."
"They have gained efficiency that they cannot achieve in any other way."
"I would say our headwind, or our time to market, is reduced considerably, we get more consistent results out of it, because you write one time and once it's automated you expect it to behave the same way every time, and it cut down a lot of re-work for us."
"You can automate everything you want."
"The main benefit is you can deploy everything with it."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to see which problems have been resolved from deployment."
"I think on a day-to-day basis, it has increased the capacity to deploy. We don't have to wait for someone to do something."
"The metrics gathered after deployment, for example, the rate of success versus the rate of failure."
"We have the repeatability, we have the confidence that it's doing the same thing each time the way we've set it up to do and just being able to have the expectation of knowing exactly what's going to happen in the order that our infrastructure needs it to happen."
"It is a very good product and can help the organizations in the long run, which will lead to higher customer satisfaction."
"The valuable features are: Ability to keep the map of different environments in a single tool, ability to design and manage DevOps activity from a graphical point of view, and ability to manage large installations with more than 5,000 servers due to its 100% scalable architecture."
"The technical support is excellent."
"The built-in action packs for different systems is the most valuable feature."
"It’s an enterprise-class continuous delivery solution that takes release automation to the next level, providing an agile and collaborative application delivery chain."
"We previously used a different solution, and CA Release Automation really makes life easier as follows: it has a large number of available actions, deployment pipeline and approval gateway features that increase security to the deployment flow, and it integrates with service desk tools."
"Ability to maintain the maps of different environments in a single tool."

Cons

"The dashboard should allow you to see the current state of packages in each environment, not only on an individual application basis, but across the entire application platform."
"GUI for mobile phones: Availability to approve and start deployment through mobile phones."
"There needs to be better error handling and error descriptions. It should be more clear what the errors are and what we can do to fix them."
"The dashboard should allow you to see the current state of packages in each environment, not only on an individual application basis, but across the entire application platform."
"If you have a technical problem and need development of the tool, the support team is terrible, because they cannot help with the technical details."
"The first time setup can be very complicated."
"We're a WebSphere shop so I would like to see more support for WebSphere, only because it's the platform that they seem to want to use the most."
"It would be very beneficial for us to see integrations into cloud environments, especially into the Google Cloud environment because we are heading towards cloud."
"I also think that the cost of this product is high."
"Scalability also got better over time. It was not scalable when we started with it."
"The level of abstraction in the VPL needs to improve."
"I would like to see improving the shared component features."
"In version 6.6, we faced numerous performance issues. This might be because it is a six-year-old version, and we are supporting nearly 1,500 applications and 15,000 to 16,000 agents."
"Initial setup cost is more expensive, but the day-to-day cost is only for maintenance, design and for people development."
"Tags are virtual snapshots of different deployment processes. Over time, if you often update your processes, it gets hard to track what exact changes were made between the different tags of the same process."
"A concern with CA Release Automation is that Automic was acquired by CA recently. We're a bit concerned that CA strategy is going with Automic, that CA Release Automation is dead. They are not investing in it too much... They do say, that in the next two or three years we don't need to worry. They will still provide support for CA Release Automation. But we're not sure how CA Release Automation will evolve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I can save time and money more quickly."
"Customers often complain about the price."
"We increased our quality and reduced our time costs."
"If you have a fixed contract, it has limits to spreading out. If you have a flexible enterprise license contract, then you have a lot of scalability for this tool."
"Nolio is a pretty much good tool, though its pricing is relatively high in the market. It's more expensive than other tools."
