A collaborative tool with a good noise cancellation feature
We use it to conduct meetings because it is private.  The microphone's noise cancellation and static feature that record a human's voice are some of the most valuable features. The application also provides notices to everyone at the same time. You can easily use it on your phone, so it's a very…

A competitive solution that improves collaboration and productivity
Slack has been around for a long time, and it's an industry leader. Of course, Salesforce owns Slack now and is starting to integrate into it. I have attended Slack conferences and met with product and support managers. They're an excellent organization. Choosing Slack depends on the organization's size, so you need to plan your deployment and make sure you put some controls and standards in place and not just turn it on. If you're a Slack shop, you will have to have something like a Zoom or Microsoft Teams platform for when you need to do video conferencing internally or externally. Many shops have both products, but they use Slack for collaboration, chat, and so on, and use Teams for video and audio conferences. At the end of the day, Slack is missing those capabilities, so either you're going to be a Slack/Zoom shop or you're going to be a Microsoft Teams shop. I rate Slack an eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the solution for document sharing, video conferencing, instant messaging, and file sharing."
"The microphone's noise cancellation and static feature that record a human's voice are some of the most valuable features."
"The solution has a great user interface and functionalities. It has good features that we can use. We can integrate any third-party application with Slack so that it provides you with insights and updates in real-time on Slack itself."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is communication between team members."
"Slack is a collaboration tool where you can create specific topic-related channels and manage different threads on different talks so people can interact and maintain a chat."
"It's valuable for announcements and communicating between team members."
"The most valuable feature for me was the different channels."
"Overall, it is a good idea as it works better than most solutions out there."
"Nowadays, we don't need to visit an HR portal. Our marketing and human resources teams directly share details about birthdays, upcoming events, and important dates in Slack. Whether it's a training event, a company-wide gathering, or a social event, all the information is shared there. This keeps us all updated."
"The product gives the best user experience."

Cons

"The audio calling service needs to improve its quality."
"There were some additional features coming up, as they informed us through email. But we didn't get any update on them."
"Sometimes Slack behaves unexpectedly and shuts down without notification or support communication."
"We’d like it to have more capability for everyone to work on one doc in real time all at once."
"Sometimes, the servers are not available."
"Slack's screen sharing might also add the remote control feature, which is not there."
"Integrating Slack with calendar functions would be advantageous, allowing for the seamless scheduling of meetings within the platform."
"The way groups are created on slack could be improved. Once you create a group of people, you can't add additional people unless you convert it to a channel."
"Its capabilities to provide security features could be better for corporations."
"It could be more stable than one of its competitors."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license grants you a subscription and costs about $120. I am not aware of additional costs."
"The tool's pricing could be cheaper."
"It is an affordable solution."
"The pricing can range up to about twenty bucks a user. You can spend a lot of money, especially if you're talking about thousands of users. Generally speaking, Slack is less expensive than Teams. Slack doesn't include all the bells and whistles that Teams does. So you can go from a $6 license in Microsoft 365 to a $50 license per user per month, and there's a lot more you can do in the $50 license."
"Slack is not the cheapest solution, but that's okay."
"I would rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
"Slack is definitely worth the money."
"It's on the more expensive side."
"We use the free version that does not have a license."
