Manages virtual machine backups smoothly and simplifies restoration across environments
It is quite easy to manage AWS Backup's centralized console for multiple environments. The product's interface is intuitive. AWS Backup has a much higher price if you compare it with the snapshots. I have to pay for the whole environment by AWS. We have a backup solution with only virtual machines. The rest of it, we have a restore point.

Simplifies backup, restore, and clone management across disparate applications and infrastructures
It's a simple solution to use. It's simple to configure everything that you need — configure your backups. It gives you an option to backup to the cloud or backup to on-premise, or to backup to cloud storage. For example, if a customer is running on Azure NetApp files or on something cloud-based that they want to back up, they have the option of bringing their own licensing and cloud controls and NetApp will give them the storage to back up for as long as they want. When deleting backups, the controls are very intuitive so not just anyone can delete the backups, only the administrator is able to do that. Backing up and restoring is simple. It's easy. It's one click of a button. It's quite good, I like it.

"When I was using an on-premises backup, there was an external hard drive or something like that, and I had a backup server, but I had a few problems related to transfer when I had to restore something that I have deleted, as I had to wait for after-office hours to do something like that, but now I just have to send a mail and within one hour I have my restored file."
"Over the time that we have used it, NetApp SaaS was a good solution and it performed well."

Cons

"This backup tool does the full backup of the entire snapshot server. I would like to have the option to not do the full server backup."
"Only the price could be improved."
"If AWS could also add some hybrid cloud features to AWS Backup, that would be a significant improvement. For example, currently, AWS Backup only backs up to the S3 and Amazon Cloud, and you can only restore from the Amazon Cloud only. However, some people have hybrid environments. They have some workloads on-premises and some workloads in the cloud."
"The time it takes to complete the backups could be reduced."
"There are multiple enhancements needed in terms of compatibility with all database services, as AWS Backup is currently limited to specific ones."
"Regarding disadvantages of AWS Backup, it can be expensive and not particularly user-friendly."
"To create a plan and for all the configuration, one has to do multiple steps, which could be organized in a much simpler way, making the user experience better."
"The support people face some challenges in coming on for remote sessions. They always prefer giving some logs."
"For newcomers or people who have less experience, it's a complex solution that could be simplified somewhat."
"There are still a few things on SharePoint that they need to correct in terms of how they backup and restore."
"There are several things that cannot be backed up as a full system, but rather only as a shared file. It isn't compatible with all applications and databases."
"For newcomers or people who have less experience, it's a complex solution that could be simplified somewhat."
"The features need to be updated to support the latest hardware, as it changes every year."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"AWS Backup is a very cheap solution."
"The pricing is decent."
"It's a myth that Cloud is cheap. Cloud is cheap initially, but the cost over time can be equal to your own infrastructure if you consume a lot."
"There are no licensing costs for AWS Backup. You pay only for the amount of backup storage you use and then the data transferred between regions. Overall AWS Backup is priced reasonably."
"There is a lot of flexibility with the services and pricing. The price is reasonable when compared to other products. This is very good for us."
"The pricing is okay."
